Arizona Koi,
are friendly fish.
They aren’t afraid of getting hooked,
but do expect some tasty treats!
I had no fishy food,
but still they followed me,
around the ponds,
like swimming puppy dogs!

Swimming puppy dogs…. perfect! I’m never going to see koi again without thinking of that! (And of course, your pics are wonderful, as usual.)
One could name one’s koi, Spot, which is quite fitting for a spotted one, and they call him, “Here Spot!” I don’t think sit and fetch would work though 😉

Beautiful koi, they never miss a trick for a handout. 🙂 Folks can’t keep them outside around here because of the herons, so I rarely see them.
I am seeing lots of Canadian Geese, cormorants, ducks, swans, but so far no herons in Arizona. I don’t know how they are protected from predators. დ

Imagine one of those coming up to you for a feed as you sit by the river. I’m amazed at their ability to breathe for up to 3 or 4 days out of water with that special chamber next to their gills. So many amazing things we don’t know in this world, but your sharing them thank you 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

There are too many predators at The Holler. Years ago, I came upon a natural creek near where I lived full of juvenile koi. who must have been released. I was sorely tempted to build a pond and bring them home დ
