Beautiful captures Cindy, of a very beautiful bird. We do not have wood peckers here, I think our hardwood trees might be too much of a challenge for them 🙂

That’s amazing how they remember their winter stashes. I have been studying bird intelligence and behaviour some of the recent research is fascinating Cindy.

Great pictures ! I am keeping an old tree on the land as the same kind
of woodpecker as yours comes yearly and makes a home there. Great sound.

How kind of you to leave some grape jelly out for the woodpecker! We have one in the orchard across the road, I love hearing him in the morning.
We have woodpecker alarm clocks too! Great Horned Owls & frogs for night symphony and woodpeckers for our morning wake up call! Love it too დ

We have two types of wodpeckers here and they are so fun to watch, and I love seeing them with the babies. 🙂
I have never found a nest. I would love too. They nest here by the oak groves lining the sides of the creek and the nests are too high to see დ
I haven’t seen babies that small, I’m talking when they first come out and the parents are feeding them.
I would love to see this too!

the varieties of woodpeckers up here, are loving a bird product we have up here called butter icing*, I smear it on the bark.. they watch me, and as soon as I back away, they are dropping over to inspect and dine. (the other mfg. calls it nut butter) I do it only in the winter/late fall …
I will check out the butter icing. Amazing we both do the same thing with the trees! Small world დ

Great portrait shots! When I put my hummingbird feeders out they have to share with the woodpeckers so I am not surprised that they like grape jelly.
How interesting. I have never seen a woodpecker on the hummingbirds feeders. Interesting how bird behavior varies by locale. Happy you enjoyed & cheers to you დ
