Simply magnificent Cindy! I love how much thought went into the architecture and design – to have all that ambient light pouring in from above and accenting the gold and various shapes. The day I visit these places, they’re going to have a hard time getting me to leave!

You get goosebumps and often feel this transendant wonderful peace over come you. Sometimes if you’re lucky, the organist will come to practice, or the choir will practice. When this happens I just sit, listen and cry. It is almost too beautiful to bear.

Amazing architectural artists. We don’t see that so much in the modern world. Just beautiful.
When I look at these big glass and concrete box buildings and huge electronic flashing signs, I get sad and wonder what happened to us? Why did we lose this cultivation of beauty that we obviously had in the past?
I suppose its too simple to say its all about money and profit…or perhaps that we don’t support the arts like we used to. I’m glad these places still exist. A feast for the eyes 🙂

Many years ago I had the chance to visit Budapest and I did not take it…and have regretted it ever since. The third shot you have is simply majestic, shows incredible talent, beauty and for me a history that I would have love to have seen. Travel can be such fun and rewarding, and even when not actually visiting but instead seeing your pics and reading your words is almost just as good 🙂
I think a true traveler is always traveling in their minds. Looking at photos of other people trips and experiences just keeps the mental dialogue and imagery going. Our imagination is the ultimate traveler and photos keep us ever exploring. Happy New Year Randall~

Dear Cindy, did you also do the art Nouveau and Art Deco trip and visited the peculiar Art Deco museum? I do hope you also went to take a tea-time at the big art Nouveau bookstore’s third floor where we spend ‘hours’ looking at the decorations, enjoying very nice cakes and coffee.
It is an amazing city isn’t it? So much to see and explore on both sides of the river. We didn’t visit this museum, but we stayed in the Art Deco section of the city and explore so many glorious Deco buildings, like the Lyst Academy pictured here. We stayed in the Art Deco hotel that was the inspiration for the movie The Grand Hotel Budapest. It is an Deco tour de force. Gorgeous, historic, old city. Did you visit St Stephens Basilica? Stunning.
A pity we had no time to go in St Stephens Basilica. But next time we shall visit the city it will be on our list. We made plans to return again to that beautiful city to stay there for at least three days.
