Check out Jim at The New Wave!

The New Wave is a more subtle,

mostly unknown,

and far less traveled,

version of the hugely popular and overcrowded Wave.

It is located near Page Arizona,

in The Glen Canyon Recreation Area. (Where’s Jim? He is in this photo too!)

The formations of previously molten rock,

are made of Navajo Sandstone.

We hiked here entirely alone all day!
Cheers to you from The New Wave~
(Note: We are heading out of wifi range, so I will touch base when I can).
Very nice clips. Nature is amazing .🌹
Nature rocks!!! 😉
🌻🌹🙏
Good to know. We’ve never been successful and won the draw to see the wave. This seems like a good second option.
Even if you win, you have to queue up and go in with scores of people. Not my idea of wilderness. There is a second wave here too, that I hear might be even better დ
Brilliant shots, Cindy! Loved the title as well.
Thank you. Smiling. I forgot the title!!! დ
That is beautiful red rock country, Cindy and Jim!
Thank you Lavinia. It is gorgeous here, with lots of wave like rock formations დ
Gorgeous landscape! Is this a recent trip because hubby was remarking that Glen Canyon doesn’t exist anymore due to Lake Powell?
We are here now. Lake Powell flooded lots of it, but it still is here, and stretches from Lee’s Ferry into Utah. There is much to explore here. Lake Powell itself is shrinking extensively due to drought დ
That’s wonderful that there are still unflooded areas there…but not so wonderful about the drought. Glad you can enjoy that beautiful vista! 😍
Stay safe & well my friend დ
I visited there many years ago. So spare and entirely beautiful. Such gorgeous pictures, Cindy.
It is wonderful here and completely uncrowded! Paradise დ
Splendid photographs Cindy, quite impressive indeed! 😊
Honored you think so. Thank you very much დ
You’re very welcome Cindy, it’s always delight and a pleasure to see your beautiful photography. Cheers and a lovely weekend to you! 🌹
Visa versa 2UX2!
Absolutely fabulous! Great to hear you managed to get far from the Madding crowds…
Paradise indeed! 😊
Thanks so much Gunta. Our cabin is over 9000 ft in elevation and I just got a satellite signal!!! Cheers to you დ
I sometimes wonder how much more I might accomplish without a satellite signal available… but then I’d never be able to post or visit… Yep! I think I’m addicted. 😂
If there is any thing that can take breath!
I was so surprised by how wonderful this relatively unknown and unheralded place is დ
I may be headed up there this fall… I am going to try for tickets but this seems like a wonderful option… or addition. ! hope the crowds stay away!
How wonderful! I look forward to seeing your photos and hearing about your experience დ
It’s amazing! I can’t imagine how it feels to hike there! 🙂
And we had it all to ourselves. It was so surprising and wonderful. Thank you for sensing this & be well დ
Here’s to not following the herd!!!
Amen to that! I was allergic to crowds long before covid. დ
Cool geology! Looks an interesting place to visit. Thank you for sharing. Safe travels.
You are most welcome Michele! Stay safe & well my friend დ
These are awesome photographs – and I spotted Jim 🙂
You have a photographers eye Anne! Thank you & cheers დ
Utterly captivating.
So pleased you think so Jim & thank you დ
No see Jim. Keep having fun!
Era buena onda!
Y nada de tiburones! Gracias Resa y cuídate mucho დ
Beautiful sculpted landscape.
Yes, it is a fascinating place დ
I love the shots Cindy as well as the geology! I disagree with whoever placed all those stones in a line. Why did they do that? Only humans try to add to something already perfect!
Thanks Wayne. The stones were placed by some unknown volunteer to mark a safe path through the canyon, safe for hikers and for the formations დ
Love how the divine artist’s sculptures Cindy. It is always a special time together when it is just the both of you, as well know. Beautiful captures of an interesting place 😊
Agreed. Time alone in nature’s splendor is precious beyond words დ
Amazing. I had to enlarge the puzzle picture to find him
Hi Derrick! You have good eyes my friend! დ
I am not anonymous – Derrick
You definitely are not anonymous to me!
Marvellous! Nature has the upper hand here. No humans visible – to me … Enjoy being out of range of the dreaded WiFi 😉
Here we are above 9000 ft, off grid in Colorado, and the satellite just smiled down on me so I could say hello to you! Love being away from humans and in the arms of Mother Nature. Bits and pieces of intermittent wifi, perfection!!! 😉
Fabulous photos, Cindy. Love, love very much your “New wave”.
So happy you do Isabel y obrigada mi amiga დ
Absolutely fabulous photos. Thanks so much for sharing/ Congrats.
So appreciated Jane! Cheers to you and thank you დ
Pleasure, as ever. Have a fab week xx
Visa versa 2UX2!

What stunning pictures! What a strange landscape! Wow!
Have a fine weekend, and stay safe, dear Cindy!
Vielen Dank mein lieber Freund. Ich freue mich, dass dir die Fotos gefallen haben. Pass gut auf dich auf und bleib sicher und gesund დ
Dear Cindy
We love this monochrome Navajo Sandstone pictures. It’s like from a geology textbook.
Thanks for sharing.
We wish you a happy weekend
The Fab Four of Cley
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Happy New Week to you Fab Four & thank you very much! Stay safe and well დ
WOW! These rock formations are incredible. I’ve never seen anything like them.
They are truly special. Happy you enjoyed Liz დ
wow, other worldly
Yes. Much prettier than the surface of Mars! (Don’t tell Elon). 😉
Great landscape photos, Cindy!
Honored. Thank you Peter დ
It’s another beautiful world to me. Thanks for sharing. ♥
You are most welcome my friend. I am happy you enjoyed დ
Wonderful to be able to visit such a landscape.
Yes indeed, especially all to ourselves დ
I looked and looked and was about to reply, no he’s not there when I found him. Beautiful. I have never seen anything like it.
The wave not Jim. LOL
Laughing……. Just read this to Jim!! 😉
The one looks like angel wings, Cindy!
Love that you see angel wings! Rorschach in rock დ
I see Rorschach everywhere, Cindy! Even in my granite kitchen countertop. There’s totally a genie coming out of a bottle next to my kitchen sink!😂😂😂
I do the same with my tile floors. There are dolphins swimming everywhere!! 😉
Gorgeous formations and that red sandstone is fantastic!
It makes the most beautiful, soft, sand. It would be stunning in landscaping or on beaches, but needs to be left just as it is. Perfect დ
Amazing and beautiful rock forms, Cindy! ❤️
So pleased you enjoyed & cheers to you John დ
Saw some wonderful rock formations like these at Arches last year!
Arches is amazing! დ
I love this terrain. your photos are amazing, as always.
Your kindness is so appreciated Darlene! დ
Absolutely beautiful, I must visit this magical place!
Thank you Tiffany & I hope you do! დ
The path looks scary, but I know only brave humans will take the risk of walking on this brown earth. 🙂
It wasn’t scary because the rock was not slippery and tended to stick to you boots giving great traction for the steeper parts დ
Thank you Cindy for telling us about the New Wave! It seems more doable than the original Wave, and has no lottery to compete for.
Exactly! And you are most welcome დ
This is on my Bucket List. Thanks for sharing your photos. Have fun!
You will enjoy yourself immensely. There is another wave next to this one that is said to be even better. both are mostly unknown, so you will have privacy. The hikes originate near The Beehive Campground in Page დ
How fun to discover and explore this gem by yourselves Cindy. I love the colors and formations
We had a really fun day in a truly stunning place! დ
Is the rock soft in places, Cindy? It looks almost like sand.
Yes. There is lots of truly beautiful soft red sand დ
Awesome, Cindy! No greater sculpture than Mother Nature herself!
Mother Nature is the penultimate sculptress! დ
So beautiful! Nature is amazing!
Nature’s wonders never cease! დ
Wow that is incredibly beautiful
It is a vast and stunning region დ
Utterly amazing, Cindy! I’ve never even heard of this, but I will remember it now. Good for you and Jim to make this journey
together!
P.S. And a welcome break from the grandsons??!!
So pleased you enjoyed Sheila & I miss my grandsons! დ
Beautiful rockstar 🪨 rocks. 👏👏👏
Rockstar waves! დ
wow! great images!
Thank you Hank! დ
What an amazing experience to be alone with such grandeur. I would have trouble leaving at day’s end!
We felt exactly like that! There is another one, said to be even better nearby that we will visit in the future დ
Stunning! Mother Nature is an artist.
She is indeed, the world’s artist extraordinaire! დ
Very nice “hard” waves 🙂
Rock waves! 😉
Spectacular rock formations, Cindy. I enjoyed your skills in photographing it, too, gave us a splendid overview of the wavy textures and the immensity.
Thanks so much & very happy you enjoyed დ
Wow! Such beautiful rock formations! The colour is splendid.
We visited a second one two. So gorgeous and totally empty! დ
WOW!.. spectacular scenes… Here’s Waving at You!….. take care off grid.. 🙂
Waving back to you! Loving being off the grid. Once in a while the satellite actually works!! 😉
Lol, nothing beats an off grid location. Make the most of nature’s space, and freedom to be… Enjoy… 🥰
Yes. We are still here and loving the solitude, with satellite wifi too!
Fantastic…. idyllic, and peaceful. Long may it last 🙂
Amen.
Such a stark countryside … way different from our flat corn and bean fields! Enjoy your travels, Cindy!
Thanks much Debbie & stay safe and well my friend დ
wonderful
Grazie mille დ
fascinating and intriguing formations
Merci beaucoup mon Ami Diana დ
I have not seen that part of Arizona but that’s a stunning view! Wow. I’m up in the Moggollon Rim in the White Mountains. It’s pretty but nothing like that.
So beautiful where you are. Enjoy yourself Marlene! Our off grid cabin is over 9000 ft in elevation and wifi signal just popped in from the satellite, so I can say hello to you დ
Cindy, thank you so much for these beautiful photographs!
Thank you very much more Charles for your thoughtful friendship. Stay safe & well დდ
Reblogged this on charles french words reading and writing and commented:

“La Nouvelle Vague”?
Précisément! დ
These are great, Cindy! We’ve been talking about heading out west to explore. Now we have another destination on our list 🙂
Wonderful. I hope you do! დ
They do look like waves. 💖 I wonder how they got that way?
I think they were molten rock that cooled like cake batter დ
Magnificent wave images, Cindy! That is a lot of hiking. 🙂
Thank you Amy! It was wonderful as we had the place to ourselves დ
What amazing formations and patterns!
Yes, they were fascinating and beautiful დ
Wow, nature’s beauty at its best! <3
Yes, thank you. It was stunning and special. Hope all is well with you დ
I would love to do a hike like this! Beautiful!
It was so amazing to have it all to ourselves all day! დ
I bet it was! 😍
Wow! What a fabulous trip that must have been, Cindy. I’m so glad you got to go — and that you virtually took us along. Hugs on the wing!
You are awesome to travel with Teagan! დ
