Lerwick is located 123 miles off the coast of Scotland,
and is the most northerly town in the UK.
It is the main town in The Shetland Islands,
and 7000 souls call Lerwick home.
Evidence of human settlement here dates back 3000 years!
Lerwick is a natural treasure,
with abundant sea life and birds.

Sounds great, it’s a long way away, I’ve yet to fly out of Australia, but I am going to China on a little 10 day tourist trip, I’m going to see The Wall, and hopefully I’ll be in America just after Easter next year. 😊

Oh I would so love too! Unfortunately we are staying ono the islands this trip. The closest we get to the mainland is Oban.
well that’s no bad thing – time on the islands is always so special. You will just have to come back and do the mainland another time!! x

Definitely! I saw this in Finland and Sweden too. It is so charming.
Yet again, we pass each other by. We had a Shetland adventure the end of April. What a wonderful week it was – just as the daffodils were blooming. I love traveling between the island on ferries, following the craft trail, discovering the story of the boats and crofters. Your photos are magnificent, as always.

I loved seeing those pictures. I did a portrait of a fellow there, feel it is the best thing I have done and have it hanging on our dining room wall. But these photos bring many more memories back.
Shetland is on my itinerary for an extended journey, including Iceland and the British Isles. Won’t be until 2021-2, though.
We are heading to Iceland next, so I well appreicate your itinerary.
