    I have a similar fellow that comes to my bird feeder. He is a Goldfinch and his mate comes too. They are so delightful!

  7. You are so lucky to see these birds. I’ve only seen them up here on Vancouver Island twice and they are just passing through, not sure to where.
    Beautiful birds, nicely photographed.

      1. They do, but this year I worried because there were so few songbirds. Then two days ago, in time for the first signs of long-awaited warmer weather, three bird types showed up: house finches, Swainson’s thrushes, and swallows. They are all usually here much earlier and in greater numbers.

    We used to have yellow birdies come to our old place. We called them “wild canaries.” They were probably like an oriole. Happy June!

    Clever…and sadly true! It’s hard to trust humans. Thank goodness for wonderful ones like you, Cindy! 💓 My husband saw an immature male Orchard Oriole today and he was reminded of how much they look like adult male Hooded Orioles. 😀

    2. Orioles are really tough identifiers especially when you consider the immature variations. There is an Altimara Oriole that is now in California that makes identification even more tricky ꨄ︎

          1. We had a large birdbath, until the roofers broke it, and there would be four or five Hawks at one time out drinking and bathing. It was magical. Hubby didn’t think about the size and bought a much smaller one. Now I only see one at a time getting a drink.

            1. That is astonishing. I have only read of this. The hawks fly low here when I water, but even when I point the spray upwards to them, they won’t get the water they clearly need because I am there.

  37. It’s always a pleasure to see birds in the wild.

    On a similar note, a rabbit in the backyard has been coming onto the deck a few times, and just yesterday, it came right up to the sliding glass door. You could say it was watching, too.
