These pics are superb and amazingly beautiful. It’s not easy to find such plants for picturing. You captured the greatest moments. Loved it. Have a nice day.
Oh wow! How amazing Cindy! These are incredible. Who knew cacti could be painful, awesome, and beautiful at the same time! 🌵🌺🌵 Thanks so much for sharing! 🥰
You’re right, Cindy. These are totally captivating and a sight most people never see. Who would guess that cacti could be so varied and beautiful? Glad you showed us the answer!
I can never get over the cacti that have these beautiful bundles of flowers Cindy, like in your picture, from something that will bite so painfully. I know it is a great protection…but to draw us to it so strongly, then bite? Is that where narcissism comes from? Prickly personification…but don’t touch? 😂❤️🙏🏽
Just 20 min. ride from there and yes Prickly variety does 🙂 I thought a garden club member was kidding when I bought a piece from her at a fellow club’s plant sale but 3 years now mine is growing.
Some friends of mine have cactuses at home and they do not impress me at all – just a briery plant. I believe they look like that because they are not at the natural environment. Looking at your pictures I understand that only being at the place of origin everything and everybody appear in all beauty.
What beautiful blossoms!… I confess, when I read “Prickly Pears” I had to think of bear Balu’s song “Look for the bare necessities” in Disney’s wonderful Jungle Book. 😉
Have a fine weekend, and stay safe, dear Cindy!
I am struck by how much beauty comes from the prickly thorns.
How much this reminds me of life.
Out of our thorniest moments can come the blooms of love and kindness.
Thank you, my friend. You never disappoint.

I love how cactus and other spiky plants have such beautiful and interesting flowers Cindy
They plod along defensive and spiky, and then spring comes and voila! დ
Beautiful! Perfect contrast.
Savage beauty. Delicate blooms amid vicious thorns დ
Cactus flowers are so magical… !!!
Yes. They are special დ

What fascinating observations Mark. The narcissism of savage beauty is seductive but dangerous დ

I also have a prickly pear here in zone 6 of NH and it gives me the prettiest yellow flowers. Hope you are well.
How amazing is that! How on earth do they survive the NH winter? დ
I know right lol it gets very cold sometimes with more than a week below zero, so they are indeed hardy.
My parents lived in Dover. I can’t imagine a cactus surviving the winter there.
Just 20 min. ride from there and yes Prickly variety does 🙂 I thought a garden club member was kidding when I bought a piece from her at a fellow club’s plant sale but 3 years now mine is growing.
Wonderful! დდ
Hello Cindy. Great plants. I wonder if the flesh of any of them is edible.
Oh yes they are edible and quite good fried. Prickly pear, barrel, cholla, and saguaro are all consumable. I have only eaten prickly pear დ

Yes. Cacti are surprising plants. So defensive and formidable, but when in bloom, so delicate and beautiful დ
What beautiful blossoms!… I confess, when I read “Prickly Pears” I had to think of bear Balu’s song “Look for the bare necessities” in Disney’s wonderful Jungle Book. 😉
Have a fine weekend, and stay safe, dear Cindy!
Now I am hearing the song and seeing Baloo & smiling დ
Cacti blooms are so gorgeous. They are the epitome of “look but don’t touch”!
Kinda like a cranky cat! დ
Haha! Love it 🙂
დდ
Lovely blossoms and close-up details Cindy. Cheers! 🌷
Happy you enjoyed Brad & thank you დ
🙂
Truly a treat to see these cacti flowers, Cindy, thank you.
You are so welcome. Hope all is well with you დ
Beautiful! It’s amazing how something so ugly otherwise can produce such stunning beauty.
Yes! Exactly. Beauty hidden in the beast დ
Simply wonderful!
Grazie mille Luisa დ

Yes! So beautifully expressed Sheila. Cacti are like life and people, beautiful but prickly. დ
