Beautiful Maui,

has beautiful critters. (Red Crested Cardinal)

Did you know? (Spotted Dove)

Birds are close relatives, (Myna Bird)

to turtles?

I certainly didn’t know, and neither does this baby myna!

Turtles seem to know everything, (Green Sea Turtle)

so this friendly guy,

who swam right up to me, probably wouldn’t be surprised.
We even have a colony of green sea turtles living in San Diego Bay. Check them out, they’re beautiful.

Swimming hole coastal Maui. (Click/tap to enlarge).
We are flying off soon to Canada, but it is still:
Cheers to you from Maui~

This Red crested Cardinal was such a great poser.
He’s what you call a natural born model! π
Wow! Wow! Wonderful photos! Love the crested cardinal and the turtle.
Thank’s for share, Cindy.
Have a lovely week!

Very beautiful photos as always, Cindy! β€οΈβΊοΈ
Awww, thanks much John & cheers α
I had no idea that birds are closely related to turtles! I love the friendly fella who came right up to you.
He was extremely friendly, and I didn’t even offer him any algae to eat! π
π
Thanks for the link; I didnβt know about the relationship. Such gorgeous photos, Cindy. π
I didn’t know either. The evolutionary interrelationships between species on this planet are fascinating α
Agreed.
αα
Lovely photos of the birds and sea turtles, Cindy. I hope youβve enjoyed Maui, Cindy. I love watching the Cardinals when we visit each year.
They come into the house and are so unafraid. It’s lovely α
I had no idea!
Wonderful photos, all. Turtles are fascinating, aren’t they?
Yes they are, especially when they weigh over 300 pounds! α
That’s so fascinating! I had to go look it up. And, also, great photos! π
Thank you Teresa. There is so little we actually know about life on this little blue planet α
Great shots Cindy ! Love your Red-crested Cardinal, have not seen one of these on here. The Spotted Dove and Common (Indian) Myna are also found here, but the latter is a introduced pest they have tried unsiccessfully to eradicate. Love your turtle pics.
I love Cardinals too. I so rarely see them, Once in my life before seeing them on two trips in the last year which was thrilling α
I didnβt know about the green sea turtles π’ here in San Diego. I will want to go check them out! Thank you.
I hope you do go. You will enjoy your visit. Here is a link to find out more: https://www.thelivingcoast.org/
Thanks very much! I emailed the link to my husband and we will add it to our βgoing for itβ list. My daughter will love it. She has different types of turtles at her preschool. This will be a wonderful little trip.
Yes, it will be a wonderful little trip. I took my son and daughter here with their cousin when they were all under five years old. They still remember it. They got to pet sharks.
Awesome photos.
Grazie mille Michael α
Welcome.
In Italian π.
In Maltese we say Grazzi hafna π
Are you from Malta? If so, this may partially explain your incredible global talent.
I am π. Truly humbled π
αα
Nice captures of the birds and their detailed features! I rarely get any shots of birds like this…like never really. lol Have a great start to a new week and take care. π
Thank you so much & I am very happy you enjoyed the birdies. Cheers to you α
Yes, I did! Take care and hope you are doing good. π
ααα
As usual, beautiful images but turtle image stands out Cindy!
That makes me happy Narayan. Thank you α
I didn’t know. That Mynah bird’s eye is amazing. Enjoy your next trip
I was fascinated by the circle of lights in the Mynah’s eyes too. I have photographed them before, but I have never seen this α
All beautiful images but I am intrigued by the spotted dove. Must be a close relative to the turtle dove.
All beautiful images but I am intrigued by the spotted dove. Must be a close relative to the turtle dove.
Lovely little doves aren’t they. They are native to Southeast Asia, but like many birds, have branched to other vacation destinations! Smart little birdies α
Lucky wildlife, to have you as their portrait photographer π
Awww…. You just touched my heart. Thank you sincerely Margaret α
It is a beautiful land Cindy, as are its resident animals. I’ve not heard before that Trump wanted to repeal existing environmental and vulnerable species protections that were in place during his time. I shake my head, why would anyone remove them, of what could they possibly gain? Maybe we should do the same to any who want those removed, we’ll see how they like no protection, I know many who would treat them accordingly π
I agree Mark, it is hard to understand human beings who are in favor of environmental and species destruction α
Did you go to the part of the island that is so windy you almost fall over? I love Maui.
Yes! Love it. I like going to the windward side of all the islands α
I have a photo of me hanging onto my hair at that location. It’s been since 1999 but it seems like there was a chapel there.
Amazing! I know exactly what you are referring too. I took photos of that little old chapel. Such simple powerful beauty. So off the overly beaten tourist track. You have to be careful there, the wind can blow you off the cliffs. Amazing you remember this and told me. Synchronicity is beauty revealed. Take good care.
I thought is would carry me away but it was worth it. So quite, we were the only ones there.
αα
wow, beautiful indeed
Merci beaucoup mon Ami Beth α
Another amazing collection of beautiful birds and scenery Cindy…. Thank YOU <3
Thank you more Sue for your very kind appreciation α

Hi. Didnβt know that about birds and turtles. Gorgeous pictures!
Thank you Jessica. I didn’t know either. Quite surprising isn’t it α
Beautiful photos Cindy. I sure didn’t know that birds are cousins to turtles! And how fun to have a colony of turtles in San Diego. Happy Travels!
Thank you Brad. It is wonderful to have these gorgeous turtles thriving in San Diego waters α
Gorgeous photos, Cindy. Up close and personal. Maui is my favorite Hawaiian Island!
Thank you very much. Maui is unique and varied α
Great photos!! Maui wowee for sure.

Turtles and birds are related?? I didn’t know that, Cindy! Gee, it’s amazing what a person can learn by reading interesting blog posts, isn’t it?!
Absolutely! I read so many blogs daily and I am must better informed because of it α
Thanks for the info about these birds and the turtle Cindy. Beautiful pictures.
You are most welcome & I am very happy you enjoyed α
I love the colourful birds. Thank you for sharing Cindy.
.
Thank you for loving the birds my friend & hope all is well with you α
Incredible…a spotted dove. I love all of them. So beautiful, now if only turtles could fly.
I love them all too. Turtles can fly under water, but if they could fly in the sky too, they would be safer from harmful humans α

Beautiful birds and shots, Cindy!
Slaughtering turtles. Sigh! I’m glad they escaped.
I hate that man kills so indiscriminately.
We both are complete agreement about human destroyers Resa α

It’s like these animals just stopped what they were doing and posed for you, Cindy. Beautiful, up-close photos.
Wild animals definitely seem to do this sometimes and it is a joy when they do α
I loved my trip to Maui 12 years ago, these photos brought back wonderful memories. Such gorgeous photos of the wildlife as well.
Happy you experienced it all first hand Carla & thank you! α

Amazing shots. That sea turtle! <3
He was so wonderful! And so were all his friends. Cheers to you DG & thank you too αα
Beautiful!!
The dino must be the common link.
The coastal swimming hole, Maui … they are better known as blowholes over there. Get too close, or into them, that’s make sure your life insurance is paid up.
There was a blow hole near the swimming hole. I had seen it before. There was one in La Jolla where I grew up. It has quite a current pulling you into it when the surf is up α
Beautiful pictures and that’s so interesting about the sea turtles in San Diego Bay! Have fun in Canada!
Thank you Kathy. I love that we have endangered sea turtles in San Diego Bay α
Gorgeous
