Herbert at The Holler~

Herbert the cat,

is quite content in quarantine.

He watches the Holler burst in bloom! Rock Roses show off.

Bearded Iris,

and Matijila Poppies,

reach for the sky.

Cactus flowers are everywhere,

while Mexican Evening Primrose blanket the slopes.

Southern California Wild Grape vines are producing bumper crops.

Cheers to you from The Blooming Holler~

  1. Cindy,
I am a cat person and a flower person. I was thinking about having a late lunch
when I came to this post, but having found it and savored it, I feel as if I have
just had a sumptuous meal. O! what contentment! Thank you!! Sarah

  2. A lovely quarantine indeed. It’s a bit of a conundrum to call anything a lovely quarantine I know – but when your eyes, heart and spirit see all that yours does while in the midst of it, the outcome of it to my eyes, heart and spirit seems lovely. 💖

P.S. The flowers are absolutely stunning, they left me in aw … and Herbert is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve got 2 (cats not flowers hehe) that look exactly like him though with differently coloring – and of course my dog Jozie, who’s large and looks nothing like them 😋).

  3. Timothy Price

Fantastic portraits of Herbert. Your copper iris is beautiful also. Lots of pretty desert flowers.

      1. Hey Cindy, Might be safe in here….but not so much when outside. Got hit by a car while biking on Monday. No broken bones that God! Mostly cuts and scrapes and muscle trauma. Wrote about it in my last 2 blogs.

  4. Whe earth has awakened – spring has come and summer will soon be here. It is a great comfort to know that the world continues to breath and to bring beauty of our lives, even though humanity has entered into solitude. May we use this time to reflect upon our connection to earth, to the creatures who walk, fly, run with us. Hugs coming your way.

  6. Okay Cindy!

    Great shots…
However, you must pet, kiss, hug, stroke, feed, kiss again, hug more and tell Herbert he is the most gorgeous living creature on earth! (That would be from aunty Resa. He won’t know it …but I will)
No cats are watching as I type this.
    Could you imagine the envy?

    1. Herbert truly believes in his own superiority and is utterly disinterested in any alternate opinions, so he heartily agrees with your good judgement. In other words, Herbert is a totally typical wonderful cattius! Hugs to Aunty Resa from Herbert and his human დ

  7. The ‘life’ of Herbert should be our destination Cindy. Laid back, serene, at peace with the world (well, until dinnertime anyway). And all those lovely naps to celebrate it all 😀
    Great pictures dear lady, a pleasure to view 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

    1. Exactly. Herbert (and the wombat) are my inspirations. According to both of them, there are few things a nap won’t improve! 😉 Thank you Mark and stay well my friend დ

    1. Yes, especially now. After years of drought, we had this late season deluge that didn’t stop. All of the plants are so happy. Around 8-10 years ago, I planted those copper iris bulbs. They never grew. I assumed they died underground. Then, lo and behold, they bloomed this year, reminding me, that hope is patient and grows. Stay well Eliza დ

    1. Yes he is. So surprised and pleased you remember! Thank you. We adopted him as a kitten from a feral cat rescue organization. He grew up behind a dumpster in Los Angeles with his feral mama. დ

  8. Herbert is gorgeous! I’ve been wondering how he’s doing; really well, judging by his photos. And the flowers are lovely. Some of them are native to your region, I’m guessing.

    1. I love that you remember and wondered about Herbert. Thank you for caring. He is, like all cats, simply amazing, and he is a super important member of our family. He knows it too, which is best of all დ
