Herbert the cat,

is quite content in quarantine.

He watches the Holler burst in bloom! Rock Roses show off.

Bearded Iris,

and Matijila Poppies,

reach for the sky.

Cactus flowers are everywhere,

while Mexican Evening Primrose blanket the slopes.

Southern California Wild Grape vines are producing bumper crops.
Cheers to you from The Blooming Holler~

Thank you very much & all the best to you დ
Thanks
დ
Gorgeous flowers! Nice portrait of the cat!
Thanks my friend & hope you are doing well დ
So wonderful flowers! And Herbert is quite a handsome fellow. <3
Herbert is getting so many compliments. I won’t tell him. I don’t want him to develop more of a catitude! 😉
First picture of the cat is wunderfull!
Herbert agrees with you and I thank you!! 😉
Beautiful 😉
Merci beaucoup mon ami დ
Cindy,
I am a cat person and a flower person. I was thinking about having a late lunch
when I came to this post, but having found it and savored it, I feel as if I have
just had a sumptuous meal. O! what contentment! Thank you!! Sarah
Cats and flowers work for me everytime. Cat people are good people. Thank you Sarah for such lovely thoughts & stay well my friend დ
A lovely quarantine indeed. It’s a bit of a conundrum to call anything a lovely quarantine I know – but when your eyes, heart and spirit see all that yours does while in the midst of it, the outcome of it to my eyes, heart and spirit seems lovely. 💖
P.S. The flowers are absolutely stunning, they left me in aw … and Herbert is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve got 2 (cats not flowers hehe) that look exactly like him though with differently coloring – and of course my dog Jozie, who’s large and looks nothing like them 😋).
Your wonderful thoughts are such a pleasure to read. Thank you Kimberly for brightening my day & cheers to you დ
You’re welcome Cindy and right backatcha. Thank you for the honor of brightening your day. Cheers! 🥂🌞💖
დ <3
Gorgeous composition.
Much appreciated Jim. Thank you & be well დ
Oh my goodness Cindy, I forgot to tell you how enchanting the story put together with the pictures. ✨ So enjoyed this. I hope you’re well, safe and well. 💗 Kimberly
Your oh so thoughtful comments make my <3 smile! Thank you Kimberly & cheers to you დ
I love Herbert!! My dad’s name was Herbert and he was as friendly as your cat looks! Such cheerful flowers too. xo
Oh, I love it! Makes me smile. It’s the two Herberts! Both purely pawesome დ
Gorgeous photos…Herbert is a show stopper. LOL
I’ll tell him you said so, but it will go to his head! 😉 დ
Beautiful. 🙂
Grazie mille დ
What a gorgeous cat Cindy. Your flower are really coming along.
Leslie xoxo
Herbert thinks you have excellent taste! 😉 დ
😉
Herbert has it good 🙂 Love the poppies!
Herbert is master of all he surveys!!! Cheers to you Jacquie დ
Fantastic portraits of Herbert. Your copper iris is beautiful also. Lots of pretty desert flowers.
Quite amazing that we both grew and photographed copper iris at the same time! დ
The year of the copper iris.
The Holler seems like a wonderful place to live.
Thank you. It is especially nice during quarantine as we have room to move and breathe with no people about დ
What a visual delight this post is!
Thank you Anne. I am happy to return the favor to you since you enrich my life with your wonderful images დ
Really beautiful.
I’ve never been a ‘cat person,’ but Master Herbert is quite regal. 😊
Yep! 🙂🐱
<3 დ
He is The King of The Holler, which is especially nice since he was a feral kitten, living behind a dumpster! დ
Awww, thank you & cheers! დ
🙂🌎
Oh so gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you more for your kind appreciation დ
What a good looking cat you have. The flowers are exquisite. 😍
Awww, thanks! Herbert was a feral kitten with a feral mom living in LA. He has adapted well to being Lord of The Holler დ
Great pics! The ones of your cat are awesome and your flowers are flourishing !
Thank you Gary & hope you are enjoying staying safe in your new condo! დ
Hey Cindy, Might be safe in here….but not so much when outside. Got hit by a car while biking on Monday. No broken bones that God! Mostly cuts and scrapes and muscle trauma. Wrote about it in my last 2 blogs.
Herbert is a heart throb.. Look at those gorgeous eyes.. 🙂 Love the flowers too, but Herbert stole the show Cindy 🙂
Thank you Sue! Herbert the heartbreaker!! He was a feral kitten raised behind a dumpster. Like all cats, he is awesome. დ
As a cat lover and one who has been owned by cats.. I can see how his heart caught yours.. 🙂 and why he found you..
How handsome is your kitty! And the flowers are a perfect thing to see on this cloudy day here where I am. 🙂
Whe earth has awakened – spring has come and summer will soon be here. It is a great comfort to know that the world continues to breath and to bring beauty of our lives, even though humanity has entered into solitude. May we use this time to reflect upon our connection to earth, to the creatures who walk, fly, run with us. Hugs coming your way.
All photos are of outstanding quality, especially image two with the cat protrait.
Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated Peter. Thank you for noticing and letting me know დ
😎 Cool dude. Nice flowers, too!
Thanks John. Herbert, like all cats, is a very cool dude 😉
Like Herbert, I’m mesmerized by the beauty!
Awww, cheers to you & thank you too! დ
Thank you Cindy. 🙂
დ
Oh yeah – now that’s what I’m talkin about, Herbert!
Quarantine Heaven!!
Herbert makes everyday Caturday! Hugs to you my friend & cheers to you from Herbert and I დ
What a lovely cat! Beautiful photos.
Thank you very much! I will tell Herbert what you said 😉
Incredibly beautiful.
Herbert thinks you are a human of refined and discerning taste! (So does his human 😉

Hugs & cheers to you my friend დ
Herbert is so handsome! Love all of your flowers in bloom! Stay safe and well, my friend! 🙂
Thank you Linda and you and your family stay safe as well. These are scary days for all of us დ
Your usual wonderful sharp images. The lighting on the cat is so subtle.
Like them all but especially the orange iris.
Thank you Diana for noticing & cheers to you my friend დ
Okay Cindy!
Great shots…
However, you must pet, kiss, hug, stroke, feed, kiss again, hug more and tell Herbert he is the most gorgeous living creature on earth! (That would be from aunty Resa. He won’t know it …but I will)
No cats are watching as I type this.
Could you imagine the envy?
Herbert truly believes in his own superiority and is utterly disinterested in any alternate opinions, so he heartily agrees with your good judgement. In other words, Herbert is a totally typical wonderful cattius! Hugs to Aunty Resa from Herbert and his human დ
Oooo! Niiice !
დ
The ‘life’ of Herbert should be our destination Cindy. Laid back, serene, at peace with the world (well, until dinnertime anyway). And all those lovely naps to celebrate it all 😀
Great pictures dear lady, a pleasure to view 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
Exactly. Herbert (and the wombat) are my inspirations. According to both of them, there are few things a nap won’t improve! 😉 Thank you Mark and stay well my friend დ
Great combination – a handsome cat and all those pretty flowers!
They prove that at least some things are right in this world! დ
Yes, a LOT of things, in fact, but we get preoccupied by the negatives in times like this.
Reblogged this on Echoes in the Mist.
Herbert and I sincerely appreciate you and your advocacy my friend. Cheers & thank you! დ
Stunning photos, as always. -waves at Herbert-
Grazie! Herbert and I send cheers & best wishes დ
Ta muchly. 🙂
The cat is gorgeous but it seems to me this is the dangerous birds hunter. Isn’t it? 🙂
Well hello Herbert !
He did look up briefly from licking his front paws to acknowledge you. If you were here, you would be his friend დ
<3
Handsome Herbert! And beautiful flowers, too. Spring at the Holler = paradise! <3
Yes, especially now. After years of drought, we had this late season deluge that didn’t stop. All of the plants are so happy. Around 8-10 years ago, I planted those copper iris bulbs. They never grew. I assumed they died underground. Then, lo and behold, they bloomed this year, reminding me, that hope is patient and grows. Stay well Eliza დ
Love the saturation on the photos, Cindy. Great closeups on the flowers.
Thank you for noticing and telling me დ
Such beautiful blooms! Is Herbert the cat we met earlier on your blog? His portrait is striking.
Yes he is. So surprised and pleased you remember! Thank you. We adopted him as a kitten from a feral cat rescue organization. He grew up behind a dumpster in Los Angeles with his feral mama. დ
Yes, I remember the Herbert post well!
This touches my heart Liz. დ
Gorgeous kitty and flowers! ♥.
Awww, Herbert & I thank you დ
=) ♥.
beautiful pictures!
Thank you very much დ
My pleasure 🙂
Gorgeous photos Cindy. Especially love the ones of Herbert.
Alison
Herbert is dumpster born, feral kitten, proof, that beauty is everywhere. Be well Alison. დ
Ooh, if Herbert could talk, the stories he might tell!….love the flowers, too.🌻
Herbert does talk all the time, but unfortunately we are cat illiterate. Thankfully, this does not prevent long conversations 😉
Herbert is gorgeous! I’ve been wondering how he’s doing; really well, judging by his photos. And the flowers are lovely. Some of them are native to your region, I’m guessing.
I love that you remember and wondered about Herbert. Thank you for caring. He is, like all cats, simply amazing, and he is a super important member of our family. He knows it too, which is best of all დ
I’m a catless cat person now, and I remembered your post when Herbert joined your household. It’s always good to read about a happy cat.
COVID may have put a damper on our lives, but this spring has been good for the gardens (and our fur friends!).
Yes, the rain in SoCal made those bearded iris bulbs I planted eight years ago finally bloom. Nature is patient დ
