In a world chock-full of beautiful birds,

Inca Terns have to be some of the most stunning,

and unique.

Their looks are matched by their winsome personalities.

Inca Terns are the only member of their genus, Larosterna.

They are restricted to areas enriched by The Humboldt Current, off the coasts of Peru and Chile.

They are a near threatened species.

Cheers to you from the always wonderful to find, Inca Terns~

What a fascinating bird. Wonderful bits of color pop so much.
A monochromatic background does make colors pop. Mother Nature rocks artistry <3
So true. She has good taste!

Love the second photo down, Cindy. What a face. –Curt
Thank you Curt. They are sweet birds on top of being striking.
From blue feet to red feet and a white, handlebar mustache. LOL! Beautiful.
All testaments to a highly creative creator!
They are another beautiful design by nature! Strange but really beautiful!

Beautiful photos, Cindy!
Muchas gracias mi amiga!
Absolutely stunning birds! What a blessing to see!
Yes, seeing them on two trips to their habitat has been a thrill each time.
I believe this is the second species you’ve highlighted whose range is restricted to the Humboldt Current? If I’m not mistake, I believe that current carries cold waters from near Antarctica up to the coasts of South America? I hope that the melting of Antarctica doesn’t impact the current too much…
It brings nutrient rich waters along the coast of South America, you are correct. I imagine arctic melting is negatively influencing everything as we speak.
Yea, I’m sure many of the ocean currents will be affected by the warming waters…
Sad.
The colors are quite striking.

I agree with RH. Couldn’t have said it any better. Except to add, you have a way with birds. They like hanging out with you.
Ahhh, thank you so much, means a lot. I think they may sense how utterly besotted I am with them. They are such pure creatures.
Such gorgeous photos – thank you for introducing me to such a beautiful bird!

Beautiful birds. I hope they stay around for a long time. We need nature.
Thank you. Yes. We need nature because we are inseparable from it.
