I want to go back to the Christmas Market to shop and eat. I would buy some of these aromatic dried fruit and spice hangars for myself and my friends. They smell and look divine. I couldn’t buy any because there was no room in my suitcase.
They also have soap and bath salt hangars that would make your bath smell heavenly.
Eating is the principal reason I want to go back to the Christmas Market! The hot off the grill lokse or potato pancakes were ridiculously good.
The piping hot langos, which are garlic fried potato flatbread, were out of this world.
Top it off with a cup of hot, spiced, mulled wine, in a variety of flavors, and you can see why I want to beam back there right now! That was my cup of spiced red wine you are looking at.
They had all sorts of fabulous foods and I would like to have time to try them all!
The ice rink in the old town center was getting readied for holiday skating.
Bratislava is a browsers paradise,
with quaint streets, wonderful shops,
and delicious restaurants.
There is beautiful architecture,
and fascinating history to keep your mind occupied.

Oh, yes, beam me back to the Christmas markets. I always tried to manage my work (before I married Tom) to spend as many Nov-Dec in Europe as possible. Little did I know, Tom was in many of the same places I was – we just didn’t know each other then. We so wanted to travel Europe together + many other places.
Isn’t that a funny thing! Jim and I were on the same ski lift in Jackson Hole Wyomming in the late 1970’s. I was taking a private lesson and he remembers my conversation about my boyfriend who was skiing like a madman down the mountain. We wouldn’t meet for another two decades and I married the skiing madman first. Life is amazing isn’t it? I wonder how often this happens?
I know of several instances in the military community but always thought we were a ‘different’ environment. However, my oldest brother married and had 15 year marriages with 2 wives before he bumped into his highschool girlfriend in Europe and they were married for 9 years or so until she passed. I liked her the best of the lot!

Actually a pharmacy museum and that is a European crayfish!!! Go figure…..Stay cool!
One honking crayfish. The ones I use to catch in the summer where smaller than my finger! But then I have watched some cooking shows that crayfish is featured in the main meal.
We have crawfish all over The Holler creek. I can’t imagine trying to catch, cook and eat one!

I saw a lot for sale in Wurzburg and they looked divine. I think the combination of dried fruit and spice is healthy and pleasing for multiple senses, taste, smell and visual appeal. How synchronistic! You will love Slovakia. Be sure and savor the countryside and the nearby Carpathian Mountains. Bratislava is a wonderful surprise. It is not as hyped as much of Europe but it has the history, culture and food to make it high on my list of fascinating places. I have Eastern European blood (Slavic) and have only begun to penetrate Eastern Europe, Slovakia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary so far. I wish to see Poland, Bulgaria, The Dalmation Coast.
