It’s November, and one must open one’s windows in order to cool an overheated room. This is when the uniqueness of Amsterdam wafts in, making me think back a lot of years, “Is that incense I’m smelling?”
“Wait no, that’s pot.”
Amsterdam sure is aromatic.
I can see why they have so many incredible pastry shops, and people eating in them all night long!
I mean they even have cannabis lollipops. I never liked pot when I was young, but breathing deeply in my room now, inadvertently of course, as I type this, does bring up the possibility that this might be more medicinal to me in my soon to be descending senior years. I seem to be feeling really relaxed……
Amsterdam is unapologetic about pot. Here you can see oodles of it growing inside this historic old house boat in the UNESCO World Heritage Area.
In Kinderdjik Holland one finds idyllic scenes like these windmills built in the 1700’s and still in use today.
Holland is justifiably famous for its flowers,
Holland, and I~

Good piece, Cindy. I enjoyed the pictures. —- Suzanne
So pleased you did and thank you!
Ahh. At first I thought you were talking about Amsterdam, Colorado. My bad. 🙂
Now we really know what John Denver meant by a Colorado Rocky Mountain High…..
The older I get the more attractive Amsterdam becomes. Lollipops!
Lollipops. Go ahead have two lollipop twins. It’s like Oz here…..
Oh yes, ahhhhhhhhhhhh Amsterdam 🙂
Cracking up, why am I finding this so funny, and why am I craving chocolate? 😉 😉
HA, HA, keep on ….
That was as enjoyable as the first time. No worries.
Are you certain that you’re in Europe and not Denver?
You could get high just walking around …..have some chocolate….
I think that happened everyday!!! Laughing…..Ahhhhh, Amsterdam! 😉
Amsterdam is on my list, especially now that I see lollipops!
I must admit the lollipops seemed to be quite the go buy items! 😉
A delightful post for so much you share with us
Awww thank you my friend!
Mellow sounds very good to me!! Beautiful photos!!
Holland is incredibly scenic even without a rosy pot glow!
LOL! You can get high off the land 🙂 Thanks for letting me travel with you!!
Love having you along!
Have a good time there, Cindy. I’m not at all surprised about the pot popularity there from the things I’ve read of Amsterdam’s youth and lifestyle there. That part is a sad reality. I’ve never tried pop and don’t ever plan to, but am very disappointed in my own state (Colorado) for being the first one in our country to make it legal since I am a native here and wish it had never been legalized. But, times are changing. 🙁 Anyway, with all the beautiful photos of their flowers, tulips, and scenery; those always make great memorable pictures of an interesting and I’m sure, beautiful country.
You would love Holland, the beauty, the flowers, the windmills. It is so picturesque .
Oh, yes. I know I would. I love the pics of their tulips when I see those. All their scenery and site there to visit. And the history of Anne Frank whose book I have, etc. So much rich history.
Seeing those windmills comes to my mind the famous Don Quijote of La Mancha. 🙂 Gorgeous photos, gorgeous city 🙂
Poor Quijote never vaniquished his windmills! <3
Sorry for my typo above (pop). 🙂 I meant to say ‘pot’ I had not tried. I do love ‘soda pop’ however. 🙂 (There is no editing button on these comment sections like on Facebook). 🙂
No worries, I’m more of a pop person too~
LOL! I think I’m part of the 1% of the US population who has never tried pot! I enjoyed Amsterdam, though (back in 1986, I don’t think the pot element was quite as obvious). Love the canal and the Anne Frank Museum. I also miss the windmills. Thanks for bringing back fond memories!
And as I start to have more mysterious aches and pains in my old age, I’m also thinking that pot might not be such a bad thing to have around…LOL!
Laughing, never say never, right!!! I did have this sense of well being the whole time I was in Amsterdam! I also seemed to laugh a lot….laughing more!
Well, if it makes you happy, then why not, right? 😀
Wow, nothing says Amsterdam like pot lollipops… You left out the red light district… Were my eyes deceiving me but I thought I saw two red dots on the first picture of the windmills…. A low low flying plane.?
I have no idea what was up with those red dots! I thought maybe I was seeing things due to the errrrrrrr, air quality! 😉 😉
Far out! Have you visited a cheese factory? Havarti a good time…
Beautiful and funny images of our beloved neighbour country, Cindy! 🙂 Amsterdam ist GREAT!
It has happened to me on a few occasions that the my posts didn’t turn up in the reader. Although I didn’t time it to be posted at a specific time, I sometimes happens. Then you have to readjust the time to make it appear in your reader. Otherwise it may appear as posted 2 days ago, previous to your latest post etc. And your followers won’t notice …
Holland is such a wonderful country and I love the Dutch. This is why we keep coming back here! This is our second visit this year. We were in the Rotterdam area in the spring.
You must put Leiden on your list, my favourite. I’m sure you’ll love it. 😊
I couldn’t recognize those locales here in Cannabis Oregon….lovely images!!
Laughing. I love Oregon Almost moved there!
Ah Amsterdam, a city where I worked. I didn’t get high though! 🙂
Good for you! It would have made it even harder to resist the pastry which is hard for me to do fully sober!
Great post, Cindy! Won’t be long for more of the US. Love your images.
Yes, making things like marijuana criminal, just gives money to criminals.
Ahhhhhhh you make me want to go back! Gorgeous pics, especially the last one.
There are still fall colors in Holland so we get he darker, almost winter colors. So pleased you enjoyed them Alison~
Beautiful photos, Cindy! I haven’t been Amsterdam. Your photos made me want to go. 🙂
I bet you would love all of Holland. They make fabulous cookies too!
Have a few extra cookies for me. 🙂
Holy smoke! Great pics!
Holy Ganga Batman!
As always, Cindy, beautiful photos. However, for those back in the states, beware. The big pharmaceuticals don’t like competition… The first time I visited Holland, I was uninitiated and it took me a moment (only) to realise the type of café I was in. The menus were clearly marked and in more than one language. Cindy you could always go for the ‘herbal’ brownies! 😉
No thanks. I am terrified of the munchies. I have them even when fully sober! 😉
Ah, they were very popular years ago when I was working at a foundation for people with AIDS. Everyone knew when Brownie Mary would stop by! 😉
Sounds like you’re having a HIGHly wonderful time. 😉
And that’s no dope!
My grandparents lived just outside Amsterdam and I spent quite a few vacations in Holland (1960’s and 70’s). Long before pot was available everywhere. It’s a beautiful country with so much to see. Your photos brought back fond memories 🙂
It is an incredibly beautiful country, with lovely people and something like 3million bicycles!!!
You have some great shots here…I really want to visit someday.
I hope you do visit. It is a fabulous country with wonderful people. You, like me, will want to come back!
LOL, beautiful post! Enjoy!
aww, cheers to you!
The colour levels of the pictures become suspiciously brighter as the post proceeds. What have you been up to ? 😀
Wait till you see the next post!
I am afraid that you are a subversive influence. I am too young. 😀
Cover one virginal eye Graham…… 😉
The Netherlands….., Cindy, you’re in the world of my mother’s ancestors. Such a wonderful place to explore. Who could not love the windmills, the canals, boats, architecture, and so much more. Have a great time and tell us all about it. 🙂 🙂
Such a beautiful country and lovely people. You can be very proud.
Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in the world … and you captured beautiful images. I won’t hesitate to return, but would also want to see the countryside.
The countryside is lovely!
Love the windmills. And the flowers. The pot? Not so much! I think I’d hate living where I had to smell that all the time.
Now I’m in Cologne for Carnival and this makes Amsterdam look tame!
Beautiful photos and funny experiences 🙂
I was pretty amused by it all!
I love that they have starter kits! I wanted to go years ago but I couldn’t afford the overnight ferry. Some day I’ll get there. But for now I’ll enjoy your photos.
The overnight ferry would be fun!
I thought so but on a student budget it wasn’t doable. As it was the plan was to stay up all night when we were there because we couldn’t afford the hotel. That was the first clue we shouldn’t do it. 🙂
I love your priorities!
Ik hou van Amsterdam. Ik hou van tulpen. En ik hou van haar mooie en poëtische vrouwen! 🙂
Welcome to Europe, Cindy 🙂 🙂
Love it all!
Nice photo’s and great to see your in my country… But it’s not all marihuana that rings the bell here… but great you enjoy the relax feelings. You’ll e need it in that busy, hectic… Amsterdam 😉
The countryside is definitely more my speed!
Wish I was there!!! 🙂
I believe you!!
Glorious, Cindy! Is the entire country so pretty?
I like pot just before bed. 😉
Yes, everywhere is beautiful, even in November!
Great post, Cindy. Amsterdam is one of my favorite European cities. The first couple of photos could have been taken in Colorado!
That’s what I’ve been hearing!
Great photos Cindy….stunning scenery!! Enjoy!!
Thanks much and cheers!
Beautiful pictures from the places and the description of your experience with the pot. I am wondering they also use the plant in food of some form?
I wouldn’t be at all surprised!
Wow, it’s a whole different world there huh? I know someone who would’ve thought he’d died and gone to heaven if he visited. As for me, I haven’t had a pleasant experience with MJ. One time I felt like I was immobilized in jello (though it’s funny that I’d even describe the experience so specifically since I’ve never been trapped in jello before, hahaha!). Hope you’re having a great time there but don’t mellow out too much that you never come back to us! 😀 <3 ~Lynn
My brain seems to lack marijuana pleasure receptors too! I wish I lacked chocolate pleasure receptors!
Oh my gosh… another thing we share in common then! Yeah, I wish I lacked chocolate pleasure receptors too! 😀
I think very HIGHLY of this post! 🙂
I tried some cannabis cookies while there, but wasn’t impressed with the smokey flavour….. only could eat them when dunking in my tea. Amsterdam is an amazing and beautiful place.
You are adventurous!
I would love to have some lollipops! ◟(◔ั₀◔ั )◞ ༘♡
My husband of course went to a Shuman concert while I tramped around Amsterdam. He saw this post and was annoyed I didn’t buy him a lollipop! 😉
It’s so interesting to see fall photos in this beautiful country. Love those windmills and as for the ‘Mary Jane’ – cool man☺️.
Amsterdam definitely wins first place as the world’s coolest city! At least if you like lollipops.
Reblogged this on Jo Robinson.
You are very thoughtful Jo, thank you and cheers!
Lollipops? Well travel allows one to experience all sorts of new things. Lovely photos!
Jim seems a tad disappointed I didn’t purchase one!
Thanks for the pics, Cindy. I’ve been at Amsterdam airport for a transfer but never set foot there. Must try harder!
Yes, it is a most relaxing experience!
Oh, what a beautiful time of year to visit the Netherlands. Fewer crowds, cooler weather. Lollipops? I assume they aren’t for kids!
You are right on both counts and I sure hope the lollipops are not for kids!
Last weekend, we spent a hour or so strolling through the Dutch and Flemish rooms at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Lots of tavern scenes. No pot painted in the 16th and 17th centuries. Enjoy your travels.
No potheads in the 16-17th centuries eh!! 🙂
Don’t apologize. I didn’t see it the first time around. Wonderful photos.
Thank you that makes me feel better.
I see there´s actually other type of plants in that country that are not marijuana !!….
Well, technically that is correct. Lots of em!!! 😉 😉
Gorgeous photos and I think being unapologetic about pot is the way everyone should be. Glad you’re having a mellow time! 😉
You are a cool retiree! <3
Quite an interesting time you are having Cindy, so mellow and laid back.
Send Jack over here right now, especially for the next post!!!
Just between you and me Cindy he sampled NZ’s finest!!!! He was a very happy chappie….
I knewwwwwwww IT!! 😉 😉
Beautiful Amsterdam images and memories, Cindy.
Awwww, so pleased to have triggered them!
Cindy, great shots. It looks like these people are having fun! Hugs! Veraiconica
Cindy, I just love to walk around in Amsterdam. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. Hugs! Veraiconica
I wish I could have walked with you in Amsterdam my friend!
yes Cindy, I would have liked that. You are so observant . HugsVeraiconica
The windmills’ photos are so beautiful.Lovely!
So very pleased you like them!
Those windmills look really cool! Have a fun and safe trip! Hugz Lisa and Bear
Thanks and hugs back to you guys!
Who needs pot when there is so much beauty to see?
That is the honest truth!
Hey, that looks a really cool, like, place, with er, like, water & colours &, like, other stuff, quite literally mind-blowing but, erm, kind of peaceful & things, it sort of transcends everything all around in a kind of way like music does, in your head, sort of trippy and (drones on for hours…) RH
Craaaaaacking way up! Wait, whaaaaat did you say????? 😉 😉 😉
It would be a hilarious to write a faux stoned post. I think you have a nack for it. Pretty please!!!!!! 😉 😉
Another favorite city. I never had a good excuse to work there but after Tom and I married, he went to Amsterdam once a year to buy diamonds. For whatever reason, I have a lot of photos of windows when we were in Holland – crazy!
Diamonds????? I hope he bought you some!!! 😉
Hey, my line was, “I always claim the first born.” Tom’s regular clients would put their orders in for whatever they planned to have made the following year. And, because the stones were of the highest quality and best price, Tom always tried to estimate his use for the coming year. It was a heady trip when the diamond district was open and jewelers from all over the world were competing for the best of the best.
Oh my God! It must have been incredible!
I’ll shamefully admit it was nice. A girl can get used to bling in a hurry. Almost every time we go out anywhere I receive compliments on something Tom made. His eye for design and his need for perfection make each piece exquisite.
You are so funny! Now take a deep breath and chill. “-)
Okaaaaay, where’s the chocolate??????
Dutch treat! Lol.
cindy, where you maybe smoking some of that you know what?
I swear to you ocifer, I wadn’t……..
These are really some great shots of autumn with a great feel of the Old World, simply beautiful ~ and also nice to know you will not go hungry with all the pastry shops around…and so many herbs for you to try and enjoy. Cheers ~
Herbs really are the spice of life aren’t they! 😉 😉 Although I prefer the cooking kind! 😉
Amsterdam, is definitely a place of liberations! Fantastic photos and commentary Cindy. It’s not every day of the week that I see pot so openly available!
Me neither! So happy you enjoyed and cheers to you~
I loved your recent German photographs. These Holland photos capture my imagination and enchant me with fairy tale colirs and thoughts. Thank you, Cindy. ♡
How lovely! Makes me so glad I posted them~
I think the pot helps bring the artist in a lot of what is seen in Amsterdam. LOL 😉
Nice – colorful images!
Thanks for sharing this. I always wanted to see Amsterdam.
It is definitely worth the effort!
I dream of it.
I hope you go!
Cindy, your photos beautifully captured all the things I think of when I imagine Holland.
Ahhhh, that is so nice. I am going to do more on amazing Holland next so stay tuned & Happy New Year!
Thank you, Cindy. Have a happy and an especially SAFE New Year. ;o)
Cheers to you & thank you too!
