“What could be said about me…a man to whom only his painting matters? And of course his
garden and his flowers as well.” ~ Monet
These photos were taken at Orchard Hill Country Inn in Julian California in June 2013.
Brilliant pictures.
Ronnie.
Merci beau coup!
Lovely! Even before I saw your title I thought of Giverny!
I love your photos of Giverny! So beautiful. Did you know Monet had an unhappy childhood, was prone to depression, and turned to gardening as a remedy? Interesting what people can do with adversity. Cheers to you Rebecca~
The most heartbreaking quote was when Claude Monet said, “My life has been nothing but a failure, and all that’s left for me to do is to destroy my paintings before I disappear.”
Yes! Oh, I missed this response from you. The man whose paintings make everyone relax, found peace only sporadically, in his garden, not his paintings. His was tortured by his complusion to paint. What a confounding world.
The lily pads are gorgeous!!
Yes I was pretty blown away with the aquatic plants too! Thank you~
The pictures do the garden justice! As beautiful as the garden was and all the casement windows opening out, Monet hung only Japanese drawings and paintings in this home! Such a lovely day……Namaste. . .. Anne
Yes!! I have so much Asian Art. I gravitate towards it naturally and my grandfather collected it. When you think of how much Japanese art depicts flowers, nature, gardens, birds, koi, it all makes perfect sense. Thank you for noticing and commenting~
Oh the beautiful flowers I just adore them,Cindy, thank you for making me a part of your post!
Ranu
Thank you my friend for your appreciation and sensitive comments!
Really it is a dreamy land
Oh God unfurl divine lotuses of knowledge in my tinny dreamy world

What beautiful prose! Did you write this? Regards and appreciation back to you~

I read your post Dreamy Giveaway! I wondered what could it be… indeed the photos are! 😀
Beautiful, lovely Monet. He speaks an international language~
This is photographic Monet–all the way. I swear, the lily pads look like swirls of oil!! And Julian, CA–is that the “apple cider” place, down SD way (ish)…? I’ve been there! On a date with a fellow named “JR” (from Dallas, haha)…anyway. ‘Hadn’t thought of him in years!! 🙂
One in the same…..Apple pie, and this wonderful, tasteful, romantic inn. I thought I had lost the photos, but the computer mis-filed them~
Just stunning!
I thought the aquatic plants were just glorious as well! Glad you agree!
Once again, stunning photography.
You are very kind my friend and your kindness is much appreciated~
Monet was what I thought of, since I think someone mentioned that Master for some of your other photos. Somehow I don’t think you’ll find an otter in those waters…
I thought it strange to find an otter in my creek. To quick for photos. But I thin he is comfortable living amid the willow roots that tap into the creek and stick out of the creek bank.
Thanks for your vistis.
Oh river otters are beyond marvelous and so rare!! I would so love to see him~
These bold colors really jump out! Stunning photos. I kept going back and back to enjoy them.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Oh that makes me happy that you keep going back and enjoy them! This makes it all so rewarding! Thank you~
Ooooh! To take a nice chilling dip amongst them! 🙂
The heat wave!! Poor Wolfie & you!!!
Brings memories of the trip to Monet Garden in France. Beautiful shots.
Yes. He was so proud of it. When he bought it there was only shrubs and an outbuilding. He created his own personal paradise. He was prone to depression and found happiness in his garden. Interesting that most of the poetry written about flowers is written by males~
The pictures represent the dream garden indeed.
Essense of tranquility. Running water and water lillies~
Absolutely stunning. Very well done!
So honored and appreciative! Thank you~
Monet is one of my favorite painter! Great photographs!
He is divine and I am not surprised you like him. Your love of nature is evident in your life’s work and your photographs. Thank you~
Very picturesque, so beautiful 🙂
So glad you enjoyed them as I did!
These pictures of the gorgeous 🙂 lilies are so beautiful that you nothing else would like to see than these !
I agree with you. I think it’s the fact that they meld so perfectly in the water, like a ballet of water and flower! Thank you my friend~
Wonderful work Cindy and pretty post.
I have told you before Eunice, you are a peach!
🙂 Maybe a Pear or fat Orange lol
Nope, a peach~
These are sensational! Thank you
I am so glad you like them. Makes me happy! Merci beau coup~
Stunning brilliantly colorful photos and such a beautiful Blog!
So kind & so appreciated! Thank you~

Oh I hope so. He was such a harsh critic of himself. He turned to gardening and painting due to unhappiness that plagued him starting in childhood. His paintings bring us such peace, but both tormented and comforted him. He said, “I am very depressed and deeply disgusted with painting. It is really a continual torture.” (Claude Monet)
Hard to grasp, but then, how many geniuses are (were) tortured?
He wasn’t any easier on Manet or Renior. He thought Renior was a hack!
He left an outstanding legacy. So very sad that his life was laced with unhappiness.
“Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love.”
Claude Monet
I find him fascinating. This will not surprise you, but the vast amount of poetry written about flowers, is written by men.
Interesting, isn’t it?
How beautiful!! I love Monet!
Goes well with Bach and a nice beaujolais! 🙂
I love what you’ve done with the place! Beautiful! 🙂
It is lovely isn’t it? I need to send the post to the Inn owners so they can see the appreication it is receiving~
As I get older and “Try to look after my Garden” and I am thinking of adding a small pool with a rockery above it with water trickling down “I have the plans in my mind” lol
I notice I am starting to like blogs this more often..
X x
Oh good!! I grow on you, like flowers!! lol~
ha ha ,,,On my main room window, on the window outside, we have 3 massive “empty” concrete box things.. lol.
They are for planting flower (You can tell I am not a Gardner yeah) 🙂
So I keep mean to ask a friend who is a Gardner to come over and plant stuff…
As they are just 3 big empty concrete things…
You may have inspired me to do it quicker..
Saying that with the heat here in the UK and everyone dying and roads melting, I may leave it till next year 🙂
xx
gorgeous Cindy, they would make wonderful paintings if you are so inclined.
We would need an impressionist painter which sadly, I am not!
My instant thought was of Monet’s “Water Lilies”, Cindy. These photos are wonderful reminders of his art. Monet is one of my favorites, closely followed by Renoir, and Rembrandt. …and my cuz who takes beautiful photos.
Awww thanks. Rembrandt is at the top of my list. His portrait of an old man in Amsterdam just took my breath away~
I could not pick a favorite from the photo’s, they are all beautiful. AJM
Very kind! Mil grazi~
Gorgeous!
Merci beau coup!
Wonderful shots!!!
So happy you liked them!
Magnificent photos, Cindy. I would love to go and see for myself, but for now, your pics will suffice. 🙂
I think you would be enchanted with Ochard Hill Inn. We are, and go every year! Thank you~
Lovely lily pads. Art on the water.
What a perfect descriptive phrase for water lillies! Love it~
Money would be jealous!
Sorry, that should have been Monet!
Don’t apologize. You are apologizing to the queen of typos!! lol!
He would definitely want to paint it!
I really like these, Cindi. You certainly captured the Monet moments.
You and your wife might want to pop into Orchard Hill Country Inn since you are fellow San Diegans with an itch to travel. We have been going every year for about 10 years! Are you still thinking of retiring to Santa Fe? We looked at houses all over and I still remember how beautiful they were~
Hi, Cindy–Really lovely. The top photo blew me away. Had to look for a moment to make sure I wasn’t looking on some hyper-realist painting. Very nice. Ken
Awww! So nice & so good to hear from you! Heading over to your blog now to see what’s new with you two~
Natural serenity – peace and quiet….
Yes! How much do we all need that??? Thank you my friend for your kind comments~
