We are staying in The Gorge Hotel built in 1921 where my grandparents once stayed,

with the wildflowers blooming,

driving up to find the views,

my grandfather painted in his Columbia Gorge paintings.

This observant robin didn’t let me distract him,

from his worm,

and this friendly elk licked our car windows!
Cheers to you from the gorgeous Gorge~

Yep. We like the same things Timothy ღ
Beautiful!
Thank you Lane ღ
The views are beautiful and your photos make nature look even better . . . but I get joy from the look on the animal faces – curious but not afraid! What a delight!!!
Yes! I get so much joy from the wild ones when they let me close. I always have. Thank you for seeing/knowing this Eha & take good care ღ
My, oh my…so idyllic. Just feel it’s my kind of place…a majestic elk licking your windows, a hotel built in the roaring 20s; how incredibly cool! And your grandfather a painter!
I get get great comfort from people like you Susan. Stay safe & well ღ
That’s so sweet of you to say, Cindy. Thank you! Back at ya!

Stunning, Cindy! What a wonderful history. Hubby likes the gorge for windsurfing. Your shot of the yellow sunflowers and purple lupine looks like our area and my backyard!
You are so well deserved lucky Terri to have these beauties in your backyard! Take good care my friend.
Awesome place and superb photos!
Thank you Michael & be well.
You’re welcome. Happy weekend, Cindy.

We are getting together for a painting session tomorrow at noon. Let me know if you want to join, it’s a free event at Piedmont station food cart court
That sounds amazing! Both the painting and the food court which looks amazing. Thanks much for the invite. Much appreciated ꨄ
Looks like a great road trip!
We are having fun. Cheers to you Audrey ꨄ
Beautiful, Cindy!
Muchas gracias! ꨄ
How beautiful, Cindy, especially your photos of the robin and the elk! That’s such a gorgeous area. They like to lick vehicles because often there’s a little road salt. Cheers.
How fascinating! Thanks much for the explanation my friend & cheers ꨄꨄ
CINDY, YOU DO KEEP THE VERY BEST COMANY. nIE TO MEET YOUR NEW FRIENDS. HUGS
I travel in the very best critter circles! Cheers to you David & take good care ꨄ
Oregon is such a gorgeous state! I’m glad the elk enjoyed his taste of your car.
Yes, he cleaned our windows too which was sorely needed! 😉
A fine photographic record – good memories too, I hope
Yes, Thank you Derrick. Best to you and Jackie ꨄ
That elk must be a born cleaner, Cindy😸what a beautiful place and beautiful pictures too, like always. Now about that birdie, can you send him to us, we have enough wurms for him🐱Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend and Enjoy!🐾😽💞
Laughing. Yes we could use a diligent Robin at The Holler too! Although we have a weasel family and they are making quick work of the gophers! Best of everything to you my friend & cheers! ꨄ
What a gorgeous spot! How lovely to be tracing your grandparents steps.
It is special. I have some of my grandfather’s Gorge paintings and I think I found some subject locations. A bit eerie ꨄ
Delightful
ꨄ︎ꨄ︎
My grandparents stayed there too! (But we didn’t get any heirloom paintings out of it, just some blurry black and white photos. )
Well this is synchronistic. I have those photos too! How remarkable.
We’ve never had our windows cleaned by an elk! Fabulously inviting photos as usual.
Neither have we! It was quite surprising. A range came by in a truck and honked her away. I am not sure why she did that. Thanks very much Margaret & stay safe & well ꨄ
You too! And may your windows stay bright and clear for more wildlife watching 😉.
Smiling ꨄ︎
😊

So cool!
Gracias Pam.
Beautiful pictures. We used to live near the source of the Columbia River, It travels through gorgeous country. Maggie
Thank you Maggie. How wonderful! We were just in Cape Disappointment. I took a lot of photos. It is stunning landscapes.
What an unfortunate name 😊
I sort of like the name….. Maybe it was how the captain felt who named it when he failed to recognize it was the mouth of The Columbia River which he was searching for.
Fun photos and story Cindy. How nice to revisit places your grandfather stayed and painted.
Yes. It is a special feeling. Cheers to you Brad & thanks.
😊
Very nice Cindy! Hope all is well with you and those you love. I am well except for a recent stroke. I am lucky to have a loved one who cares [loves] me and watches over me like an angel! We got married three years ago.
Also, lucky enough to be able to publish my latest book. https://www.amazon.com/Fannys-Kaleidoscope-Waldo-John-Tomosky/dp/B0F21VML28
It is wonderful to hear from you Wally! I am sincerely sorry to hear about your stroke, but very happy you have found love and published a book. Congratulations on both! Take good care my friend & be safe and well ꨄ

Loved the robin with his worm and the friendly elk that licked your car window. Hard to get more friendly than that. Fun about your Grandparents, Cindy. Surprised you didn’t include the waterfall.
Happy you enjoyed Curt. Thank you. I am still working on the waterfall!
Connecting with grandpa and enjoying beauties of The Gorge must be so much fun, Cindy. Thanks for sharing lovely pics.

Gorgeous landscape!
Yes it is!
Wow, Cindy, that is one gorgeous gorge!
Thanks for the phenom pics!
I find it so cool that you stayed at a hotel where your grandparents once stayed. You are seeing what they saw. So cool!
If you ever go to Niagara Falls, the Brock Hotel still exists. It’s where Marilyn Monroe stayed (room 801) when filming “Niagara”. You can stay in the room, if its’s available.
I have never been to Niagara Falls. That would be interesting. You can do the same at The Hotel del Coronado from ‘Some Like it Hot!’
Ahh, thanks for the tip, Cindy!
Niagara Falls (spectacular) is over touristed now. Go off season!
Last time I went in the middle of winter. No one was there, and the falls were a frozen movement with lights on then. Stunning!
I have seen photos of that. Gorgeous. I would love to see this ꨄ︎
