in Oregon stretches for seemingly endless misty miles.

Haystack Rock on the beach is famous both for it’s unique grandeur,

and for the variety of wildlife it harbors,

including a nesting colony of tufted puffins,

unless of course these guys decide to nest on the top of the rock and scare all the puffins away!

Harlequin ducks seem unfazed by the eagles and swim happily all around Haystack.

Many birds can be found in nearby estuaries and ponds, including tree swallows,

scaups,

and ring necked ducks.

Bundles of baby beach bunnies sleep on our ocean front patio,

using our presence to keep the eagles away.
Apparently in the 1980’s domesticated rabbits were released into the wild and bred like bunnies!
Cheers to you from Canon Beach~

This beautiful beach is in my home territory :o) – thanks for the marvelous wildlife photos, especially the ducks!
Hi Sue. You live in such an amazing place. So beautiful. I am not seeing as many shorebirds as I expected. Is it bird flu, or pollution?
Not sure Cindy but maybe it has to do with coastal habitat? Sadly, seabird population seems to be declining everywhere. The last time I visited the gold coast it was snowy plover nesting season (June). There are also many dunes lakes in the area, you might have more luck there?
Thank you for the tips. I will check them out……
Love your photos…always capturing the beautiful creation’s of God’s hands.
Thanks very much Sheryl. God gifts us with sacred Creation.
Yes he does..Amen!
ꨄ
looks like a wonderful place to live ❤️😊
Yes! Quiet and peaceful.
Beautiful Cindy! How great that there are no people, and lots of wildlife!
Thank you for your fabulous shots! 🌟❦
Hi Resa! Lovw that you are traveling with me my friend & cheers to you!
How long will you be on the road?
3 weeks. Then home, rest a bit, and off to Newfoundland and Greenland….. if they let me in!
LOL!!!
They will let you in. Well, Newfoundland will.
Your leader is MASSIVELY unliked here. (possibly utterly hated)
Yikes…. “My leader.” I can’t think of a time I ever actually followed a human leader. I am still thinking…..
Lol!!!
Lovely pictures, Cindy. Haystack Rock looks amazing!
Thank you Balroop. This whole area is stunning.
Beautiful pictures Cindy, I didn’t know the puffins made their way down to Oregon. Too bad the eagle scared them off. Maggie
Yes. But happy to see the nesting eagles. There used to be around 800 or so, at last count the numbers were in the approximate high 80’s. Sad. We are heading to Newfoundland soon where there are thousands.
Go to Elliston, on Bonavista Peninsula. You can get the closest to them, and they may even land near you.
Ooooh exciting I will check it out. Thank you. We are already going to Witless Bay.
Witless Bay may have more, but they’re further away, if I understand it correctly. We posted about Bonavista Penninsula a couple of years ago, but we were too late (September) to see many.
Yes we were too late in Iceland. Disappointing. They are so precise. There are 260,000 or so nesting pairs of puffins in Witless Bay and we are going during peak season. So puffin on!
Wow! 🤩
I ꨄ Wow!!!
I’ve never heard of beach bunnies!! Those things are adorable! I’d love picking one up and hugging it — gently! Thank you, Cindy, for another lovely look at your part of the world.
They are like puppies. They jump up on your leg for attention! And they come in the door and make themselves at home if you leave the door open!

Monkey would have a FIT … but I’d be in bunny heaven!!!
Laughing…..
A wildlife haven. What a blessing!
Today I hung with a herd of elk. Paradise!
😀
Beach bunnies!!!! I have died and gone to heaven. Could anything be more cute???
I can’t think of anything. My hubby just left the door open and here they come. They do leave politely when asked though!

Beautiful pictures. There are bunnies in the backyard now with warmer weather.
Not that long ago, two bald eagles landed on the ground nearby who had their talons stuck in each other (two males, it was thought, fighting over a female). It took some effort to pry them apart (and hold them down), and there was a moment of fright when two little dogs were loose (not hurt, fortunately).
Wow that must have been quite intense. You were quite brave to intervene. I wonder why the eagles here don’t make more of a go towards the bunnies, but thankfully they haven’t so far and the bunnies are supremely relaxed as if they own the place which I expect they do!
Großartige Fotos.
Vielen danke ꨄ
I love all the resident photos!
So happy you do Liz & cheers my friend ꨄ
🙂
Your lovely photos bring back memories of road trips down to San Francisco, Cindy! Sigh…
Yes. I know just what you mean. The gorgeous portions of Northern California.
Such a beautiful bountiful spot Cindy… And oh to have those Beach Bunnies .. Glad you are keeping those Eagle eyes at bay 🙂
Thank you Cindy for sharing those Ocean views..
Sending hugs for a lovely weekend xx <3

🥰😍🥰
A beautiful image…thank you .x
Thank you and you are most welcome Janet.
It’s a great beach to walk on.
A most pressing question (LOL) … How long did it take for you to draw your bunny?
Hi Deborah! It is a fabulous beach for loooong walks. It took seconds because I copied and pasted Mr. Rabbit! 😉
Wow, those tide pools are amazing. Great photos, as always, Cindy.
Thanks very much Carls & Happy Weekend!
That is an amazing variety of wildlife to see in a single place, wow!
It is wonderful. Today we hung out with an elk herd! ꨄ
Cindy, your photos are gorgeous! Lovely post!
Ahhh….. So appreciated Lauren! Thank you sincerely & have a wonderful weekend ꨄ

What a magnificent set, Cindy. We love Cannon Beach and have dear friends who live there. (two photos in my latest post are reminiscent of two you have here- great minds 🙂 Really fabulous nature photos- Brava!
I just went back and looked at them again and I see the two. All your shots are so stunning Jane. I think we appreciate similar things my friend which is wonderful to see.
Loved the puffins. I’d never heard of or seen them before. <3
Thanks much my friend & hope all is well with you!
🙂
The Oregon coast is truly magical! It’s been a while since I was there, so I appreciate you bringing the magic to me!
You are wonderful to travel with Teresa. Be well my friend.
I am gobsmacked by your post tonight – I have no words to describe what your pictures mean to me!!
Love to you Sheila & be well my friend.
I only got to pass through and visit for a few hours so I missed so much of the spectacular views you have captured here. Of course, the bunnies spoke to my heart. I never thought of bunnies at the beach. I guess the eagles keep the population of bunnies under control. 🙁 Beautiful photos!
Thank you dear Marlene. I hope all is well with you my friend. Be safe & well.
Beautiful photos!
Thank you very much.
These photos are absolutely breathtaking in their beauty. Thank you, Cindy!

Heavenly! I mean I always love birds! But, waking up to bundles of baby bunnies on the porch, well that’s positively spectacular!
Hoping life is treating you good!
Yes. The itsy bitsy baby bunnies running freely into your doorway is a first for me! Stay safe & well.
Thank you for sharing this snapshot of Oregon wildlife. Those tiny bunnies melt hearts. I love watching ducks, too. Xo

Wow, those bunnies are so cute. Lovely colour too. Looks most unusual.
I admit the beach bunnies were quite unusual for me too! Take good care Vicki.
Thanks for sharing Cindy, I was there 65+ yrs ago and needed to ‘refresh’ my memory 🙂
Wouldn’t it be beyond amazing to be able to revisit here then. Thank you for the idea & be well.
Beautiful photos of a lovely area.
Merci bien.
Beautiful!

Exquisite!
Such a beautiful beach. We were here a couple of years ago and enjoyed walking by the water.
Yes. You can walk for seemingly endless miles.
Gorgeous photos!
So appreciated. Thank you.
Truly wonderful…
So appreciated Willie. Be well.
Love these birds especially, Cindy!
Oregon beaches are like no others. Been to Cannon Beach several times but had to stay at Seaside. Less expensive.
Agreed. Seaside is lovely too. Hope all is well with you ꨄ
An ocean front patio sounds like paradise to me, I’d love to have one. The bunnies are super cute!
Agreed. The sound of the waves is so soothing ꨄ
Cindy I love Cannon Beach … I used to spend a lot of time at Rockaway Beach and always end up at Cannon Beach. It is a magical place. Ty for reminding me about it.
Mae 🧡
