Birds of The Sea of Cortez~

(click/tap to enlarge)

Jacques Cousteau referred to The Sea of Cortez as the world’s aquarium,

which it clearly is,

empty, stunning, and full of wildlife.

The region is also,

home to a huge variety of birds,

including the formidable Harris Hawk,

comical,

peli- cans,

curious grackles,

and stunning,

frigate birds.

Cheers to you from all the birdies in The Sea of Cortez~

  1. When I see the peering eyes of the hawk I think of the song Cortez the killer by Neil Young. There must be some resemblance. 🙂 Great pictures Cindy, and as always poetic words.

  2. Love the blues of the water Cindy, a color of their own. And of course the birds. We are spoiled over here with so many but they are a delight to watch as they do their thing. Thank you for the share kind lady 🤗❤️🙏

  3. Deborah

Sea of Cortez is one of those pristine places. Love that Harris Hawk. We have a lot of hawks, the Cooper kind, at home.

    1. OMG. I didn’t know about this book. I know his California fiction well, and remain entranced by it, and him. So he was stressed out by public reaction to ‘The Grapes of Wrath,’ escaped to The Sea of Cortez to get unhuman centered? What a wise person, as are you. I just bought the book. Thank you დ

  4. Such stunning photos…. I especially loved the Harris Hawk… What a magnificent bird… And the Pelicans. What a beautiful location Cindy..
Thank you for sharing those Blue skies and oceans…. Much needed here in England right now 🙂

  5. I’ve seen shows on TV about this area and the collection of marine life is outstanding. You’ve taken some fantastic pictures of what can be seen above the waterline, Cindy.

  6. Looks so wonderful. In the midst of a very cold winter I wish I could use one of those Harry Potter teleporting devices to take me there right now! Beautiful photos.

  7. Ahhh, these are beautiful, Cindy. Thank you for sharing them! It’s comforting to learn there are some places in our country that aren’t covered by ice, cold, and snow!
