Bird Watchers~

(click/tap to enlarge)

You just need,

to be alone,

silent,

and still.

If you do this,

you will find,

that birds are avid people watchers!

Cheers to you from the always observant birdies~

Note: Featured birds are a Stellar Jay and American Robin.

  1. So true, Cindy! We have a family of blue jays that come to eat the cat food we leave for our cats and they watch us through the windows. It’s hilarious.

  2. We get robins here, too, and they’re so interesting to watch. So chipper and busy … except when they’re staring down a worm! We get jays, but not the same variety you do. Ours don’t have as dark a head, but do have lots more white on their underside. Lovely photos, Cindy!

    1. You may be describing a Scrubjay. We also have scrubjays at The Holler, but no Stellars. I only see them when I travel. You’re lucky to have the Robins. They are very rare here. Thanks much Debbie & enjoy დ

  3. 100% true! You make me want to drop everything, go outside and sit on my screen porch, and just be quiet. Good for my regular bird friends – but better for me.
Thanks as always for the lovely images, Cindy.

  4. Hi Cindy, I just put up a bird feeder on the window by the kitchen table. It is such a delight to see them come and feed there. We get the smaller birds – Gold Finch, Pine Grosbeaks, Wrens and Chickadees.

  5. Beautiful as effurr, Cindy. We love birdies and we know they’re watching us all the time, and we have the best conversations effurry morning, they like us kitties too I suppose😸😸Double Pawkisses for a Happy day🐾😽💞

  6. Deborah

Haven’t seen a stellar jay before, but their bluejay cousins I’ve seen. Not as many before West Nile came. Robins, we have our personal flock.

  7. Greetings from Gatwick airport! Waiting for a flight to Jamaica 🇯🇲…could be a long night! Only another 9 hours to go! Beautiful birds 🐦 I’ve been lost in new phones world for weeks and the follow-up picture sorting since there’s no sd card support on them 😢 So beautiful birds are a very well received break 😀 There’s only so many digital pics you can stare at and sort through before you can’t bear the sight of them anymore 🥴😅

    1. Oooooh….. Bon Voyage! Have an incredible time in Jamaica and fly safely. Look very much forward to hearing about your trip. I love Jamaica. Enjoy the sun and sea დდ

  8. The word is over used. I apologize. Turning the tables here is “brilliant.” Reading that brightened my day. Recently I’ve taken to just sitting in my garden, doing nothing. Listen and observe. You given me more companionship. Thanks Cindy.

I do know they pay more attention to us, than we to them.

  9. No matter how quietly you sit, once you point a camera or a binoculars or even a nose their direction they seem to know instantly, even if you think they’re looking elsewhere. It’s almost like radar.

You have some healthy looking birds.

    1. Yes. Absolutely. It is this sixth sense they have to detect the stare of predators. Scientists in Bristol did a study demonstrating this, but you indicate an important point that has not been as well documented, that birds and wild animals in general, are puzzled by lenses stuck to human faces, and have a tendency to stare intently into them. I have seen this so many times with birds, grizzles and all sorts of wild critters. I think the lens, attached to a human face puzzles them and makes them curious. It is fascinating. I have also noticed with birds, that everytime I locate a bird with my lens, they are already looking at me, even at 1200 mm zoom. Thank you for observing and sharing this Dave დ

  10. I love these birds they look so elegant, the colours of their feathers so pretty, I almost feel like touching them. I know they won’t appreciate me trying to touch them.

  11. You’ve captured not only wonderful images, dear Cindy, but you’ve captured exactly the energy I have been feeling of late. Much love, dear Cindy. ❤️ and thank you for all of your wonderful photographs xx 😘 ❤️
