Gulp grape jelly,

gobbling a gallon in a week.

They love to guzzle,

and gape,

at the odd creature,

who gives them grape.

They don’t grumble and nicely share,

as long as there’s generous gobs of grape.
Cheers to you from the glorious, glutinous, Holler Acorn Woodpeckers~

What interesting and beautiful birds I have never seen before Cindy, thanks for sharing them.
I am so happy to make the introduction & thank you! დ
Lucky birds! And lucky us, to see your photos of them!
So thoughtful Audrey & so appreciated too! Thank you დ
Such gorgeous grape-lovers they are! Adore the woodpeckers; we don’t get this pretty black one but downy, hairy, and pileated woodpeckers visit our suet feeders year round and drum on our eavestroughs this time of year. Thanks for sharing your greedy guys!
Yep. We get the drumming too but grapejelly stops it. Apparently they like jelly more than acorns! 😉 😉
wow!
Smiling დ
Oh these are marvelous! Love their skull-caps 😁
Smiling. Thank you. They are ready for The Cardinal’s convention დ
Wow! These are such stunning photos of these gorgeous birds!
Thank very much Lynette & cheers დ
An attractive bird with amazing eyes! I don’t see any grapes on the palm tree. 🤭
It has grape jelly hidden around the trunk for the orioles, but mockingbirds, woodpeckers and sparrows love the jelly too! დ
Oh, oops! That sounds tasty, Cindy! 😊
😉
They are a handsome lot, and you’ve captured that beautifully.
Grazie mille Alys დ
Lovely.
Thank you Timothy დ
Gorgeous…!!!
Happy you think so & thank you დ
Love your beautiful photos!!
Thanks very much! დ
So many flocked together! Such cool birds. I saw a couple in Sacramento years ago, only one pic. Yours with the three together remind me of a crowded hummingbird feeder! Well done!
You make me happy I posted Terri. Thanks my friend & cheers! დ
Beautiful photos of beautiful birds… One spring in Oregon, a woodpecker took a fancy to my metal chimney and regularly made visits – usually early morning – to peck away. Never understood the attraction?
Yes! They do that here too. The loudness of the sound is what they are after. Metal makes more noise than wood. They use this noise to attract mates and deter predators. Just give them grape jelly and they will forget about both!! 😉 😉
Will remember the grape jelly tip! :0)

Love your excellent photos and the g-rhymed text.

So appreciated Margaret. Thank you. And yes we are in great need of positive imagery during these violent times დ
Tell me there’s nothing odd about a woman who gives grape jelly to birds. If there is, it’s wonderful. You show, inch by inch, what beauty we live within.
Smiling… Your thoughtfulness is most appreciated Neil. Of course I’m not at all odd. It’s just the birds that think I am!!! 😉 😉
Can you get lost in ‘The Holler’ Cindy? There is so much in there, like a mini Africa. Multitudes of delightful critters and landscapes all around. Thank you for the share kind lady, it is a truly an education, and of course well taken pictures to guide us 🤗😀❤️🙏
You are so welcome Mark and thank you! The Holler has lots of open space and all sorts of wild critters. We are abutting a nature preserve. Few people, lots of critters! 😉

How wonderful you give them grape jelly (How did you know they like grape jelly? Whoever decided one day to even give them grape jelly?)
Fabulous photos, Cindy.
I didn’t actually put it out for them. I put it out for the orioles who are known to love grape jelly. Turns out all sorts of birds love grape jelly! დ
Hahaha! Okay then… who figured out that orioles love grape jelly, then? LOL!
I swear it wasn’t me…….
Haha!

Woodpeckers that eat grape jelly? Are acorn woodpeckers like sapsuckers then, that eat the sap from trees?
Woodpeckers are like me. They will eat practically everything! 😉 They are omnivores. They eat seeds, nuts, bugs, but grapes and apples are special treats for them დ
I didn’t know that! Thanks for the information!
You are most welcome Josh & cheers.
I love the first photo in particular! He looks like he’s saying, “Yeah, I’m eating your grape jelly. You wanna make sumpin of it?
Tee hee hee…… Thanks for the giggles Liz & cheers! 😉

Cindy, I didn’t realize woodpeckers ate grape jelly! And here, I thought they tapped their beaks on tree trunks, looking for bugs. Or is the jelly their dessert?!?
Jelly is their desert. They are much like me. They will eat practically anything!! 😉 😉
Amazing! Thanks for the info along with fascinating pictures, Cindy.
You are most welcome. Thank you & cheers Balroop დ
