Wow. Now these are beautiful creatures who have to establish priorities swiftly. I never knew this about these moths so thanks as always, Cindy, for the education. You should be required reading.
Maybe the ceonothus moth is dressed for a grand party. Thanks for the gorgeous photos Cindy and fascinating discussions about perspective, time, and what makes a full life.
For the moth, this is an end of life well dressed party. Thank you Brad for your sensitive and intelligent recognizing, “perspective, time, and what makes a full life.” დდ
I am happy you let your thoughts be provoked Carol. I like your pondering. And there are other questions, is our sense of time real, or is the moth’s დ
Stunning photos and fascinating creature. The short lifespan hit me hard, but I’m learning to embrace “how” over “why.” Now, I’m starting to understand the mantra: savor every moment.
I think I saw some of this moth’s friends at various butterfly houses that I’ve visited. I’ve got some close ups of some… one Owl Butterfly that I found by chance on a walk in the woods… sooo pretty!
If one stands still enough that can happen at the butterfly houses too…
I’ve gotten close enough to photograph Monarchs and Swallowtails in my yard! But they have never landed on me. 🦋
We often overlook moths, thinking only butterflies are beautiful, so I’m glad you’ve shown us such great pictures of these beauties! Stay safe in your continuing storms!
Oh, Cindy, I’m going to enjoy feasting my eyes on the winged wonders you’re posting! The science of nature is fascinating to me. Congratulations on your website success.

“beautiful creatures who have to establish priorities swiftly.” Thank you for this understanding Sheila დ
Wonderful photos… I used to have a pet moth like this. 😊
Well that is amazing დ
It looks like it’s made of velvet.
I know. It’s indcredible დ
Love the post. The photos are really great! Life is short!
Yes. Thank you. Like is short, no matter how long it lasts დ
Yes, and moving faster the closer we get to the end of it!

A wonderful Moth… and such a short life span in which to find a mate and leave its heritage for another generation… Wonderful capture xx <3
Thank you Sue for thinking about this moth’s brief and beautiful life დ
🥰🤗🥰
Beautiful image. Anita
Thank you Anita დ
Lovely! And a thought-provoking post that causes me to ponder what matters most – the length of time one has, or how one uses the time one has.
I am happy you let your thoughts be provoked Carol. I like your pondering. And there are other questions, is our sense of time real, or is the moth’s დ
💜
I trust they relish every minute.
And their one minute might be our entire lifetime დ
A beauty!
Yes, thank you Curt დ
That is gorgeous.
Thank you for seeing the beauty & be well my friend დ
❤️❤️❤️
Life is too short for nearly every creature. This creature is a beautiful miracle.
Thank you Dawn. Be well my friend დ
Stunning photos and fascinating creature. The short lifespan hit me hard, but I’m learning to embrace “how” over “why.” Now, I’m starting to understand the mantra: savor every moment.
Yes. So very true. Don’t waste precious time. Take good care my friend დ
Absolutely beautiful. I’ve rarely seen them. Maybe only a coupla times. Great shots.
Yes. I have only seen them a handful of times too. დ
The ceanothus moth is a fascinating creature that adds to the beauty and diversity of our natural world.
Yes. Thank you Adelina. We live in a stunning natural world დ
I think I saw some of this moth’s friends at various butterfly houses that I’ve visited. I’ve got some close ups of some… one Owl Butterfly that I found by chance on a walk in the woods… sooo pretty!
They are transcendant creatures. In Iguazu Falls, amazing jungle butterflies land on you like you are their friend. Magical დ
If one stands still enough that can happen at the butterfly houses too…
I’ve gotten close enough to photograph Monarchs and Swallowtails in my yard! But they have never landed on me. 🦋

Beautiful. And talk about ‘life is short’. 🙂 <3

Wow! Indeed flying beauties! Amazing shots, Cindy!
So appreciated Eugi. Thank you დ
You’re welcome, Cindy!
What a beautiful creature, but so sad to think of its short life. I would have never guessed its wingspan was so large. Hugs.
Maybe, this moth thinks he led a long and happy life. Let’s hope so დ
That’s amazing to think of! But I feel they don’t worry about it and are happy instead.
Yes. I like the way you think. For them, 10 days must seem like eternity დ
That’s sad and beautiful at the same time! So short lived!
Love that you see the sadness and beauty დ
Oh, Cindy, I’m going to enjoy feasting my eyes on the winged wonders you’re posting! The science of nature is fascinating to me. Congratulations on your website success.

People just do not know how long a bug’s life span truly is.
True.
Beautiful photos – interesting how short a life span they have flying free!
