Look who’s been posing like a model,
at our local ponds lately,
Wood Ducks, which are uncommon in Southern California.
I need to go back and photograph the females,
who are not quite as show stopping as the males,
but are beautiful none the less.

Alison, who lives in Vancouver says they are common there, maybe they haven’t flown over to Tofino yet…..
Oh and that greenery reflected in the water is a great back drop!

I would love to write one! I am so frustrated with the books available for my two year old grandsons, that I just make up the words….
There are so many children’s books being published now; I’m curious as to what you’re seeing as lacking.
First I thought it was an Imperial Peking duck (alive not roasted) then I started to think about roasted Peking duck and now I am in trouble. 🙂
Laughing….. I photographed Peking Ducks in Baden Baden Germany of all places. They were wild and thriving. They do look quite similar დ

What a handsome dude! Around here wood ducks are very shy and one can never get very close to them. This guy seems right at home in front of cameras and people!
They were definitely shy. It took two separate attempts to get these photos and I used zoom. Next I will attempt the females….. დ
