Scaly-Breasted Lorikeets,

are easy to hear,

but hard to see,

they blend in so perfectly with their arboreal home!
Cheers to you from the well camouflaged lorikeets in Oz~

gorgeous!
Thank you Linda & hope you are well my friend დ
They’re such beautiful birds. The camouflage has probably saved them more than once.
Many times I heard them but could not see them! დ
Terrific photos here! I feel like I know them…..
They are sweet aren’t they! Happy you enjoyed & cheers to you დ
I love our Lorikeets…. beautiful pic’s Cindy…xx
Lucky you, having them near! დ
Yes… in my courtyard…. xx
I am jealous დ
Such pretty birds!
No wonder so many people use that term, it fits beautifully! დ
Are the males and females similarly colored?
They are and very difficult to tell apart. I certainly couldn’t do it. Males are a bit bigger I think…. დ
They are really easy to tell apart Cindy…you get a DNA test done by the vet! 😂 🤣
Sorry guys, these ones really are very hard to tell apart. And as Cindy said, the male can be larger but that is still difficult under different circumstances. Any bird whisperer’s out there? 😀
Laughing…exactly! I am sure experts might be able to sex them on visuals, but certainly not me. I just like watching them and I miss the parrots of Oz დ
birds in the wild.. your pictures you share.. they are so amazing. I love them! Sends big virtual hugs to you my friend, stay safe, and stay well.
Visa versa 2UX2 my friend & thank you! დ
Magnificent birds, Cindy. 😍
I love them too! დ
They are beautiful, Cindy!
Aren’t they beautiful! Lucky Oz დ
They are definitely masters of Camouflage, but YOU are a master photographer who has a unique talent of being a bird whisperer.
Ahhhh, I wish, but thank you for the lovely thoughts Rebecca & cheers my friend დ
Greener than green! Is it possible? You probably coloured them, Cindy. Didn’t you? 🤣.
Just kidding. Absolutely gorgeous Bird!
It happened again. WP doesn’t like my comments. I am anonymous again!
A rose by any other name…. WP gremlins are always busy! დ
Sometimes something is going wrong with WP and my comment is anonymous. It adds a bit of intrigue.
Yes. WP does this. People tell me. Did you check you are signed in to your WP account when you comment? I must admit I like the intrigue too! It is fun to find out anonymous is someone I know well, like you! Stay safe my friend დ
Amazing!
All creatures great & small! Thank you Bette & hope you are well my friend დ
How gorgeous! There’s got to be a better name for than scaly-breasted though!
We should think of one…… I think their “scaling” looks like sunshine dappled through tree leaves….how about “Sunshine Dapplers?”
Ooh! Sunshine Dapplers is much more fitting!👏🏻
We’ll call them that! დ
I love those two-tone feathers. Beautiful.
Aren’t they amazing! Happy you like them დ
💕
Just breathtaking! Love your photography! 🙂
So kind and so appreciated Felicia. Thank you & cheers დ
Oh I do miss the screeching of parrots! And their glorious colours.
Alison xo
I would be happy living with all the amazing wild parrots screeching by in flocks and eating off my picnic table. They astound me! დ
Yes, me too, even though I grew up with them.
Lucky you დ
I love these colourful birds, Cindy!
I am so glad you do and thank you for taking the time to tell me! დ
Thanks for this amazing sneak beak, my dear friend! Do they sound sweet like Dolly Parroton too? Squawking 9 to 5! LOL! ♡♪( ‘Θ’)ノ~☆(•ө•)♡(•͈⌔•͈⑅)♡
More beautiful birds! I saw a song sparrow singing today (and heard it) and that was a treat, too.
First you hear the song, then if you’re lucky you find the bird! I am glad you were lucky დ
The little creature was sitting in the open on a wire trellis. But that’s generally–yes–exactly the drill: hear, look.
That is definitely my approach too დ
They are really beautiful.
Sweet birdies too დ
Magnificent both bird and pics😜👊
Ahh, honored thank you დ
They are so beautiful. That camouflage is amazing.
Who would think green, red and yellow would help you blend in, but in Oz, it does! დ
Breathtakingly beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for appreciating them & cheers to you დ
Amazing creatures!!
Social and outgoing too! დ
Splendid pics. They are designed for dappled sunlight
Ahh, yes indeed!! დ
I remember seeing them in Australia and being astonished by the colour and the noise they make! Beautiful pics.
Parrots like to be in flocks and they like to all shout at the same time!! 😉
The colours are so bright and yet they are beautifully camouflaged!
It seems impossible doesn’t it. Oz is bold in every way! დ
Oh what pretty colours ! ❤
Aren’t they wonderful! დ
immer wieder toll, deine Aufnahmen, liebe Cindy, genieße den Sonntag und freue dich auf die kommende Woche, Klaus
Sie sind ein freundlicher und sehr geschätzter Freund. Danke & Prost! დ
Such vibrant colours
No muted pastels for these guys! დ

Lovely shots of these parrots, they are gorgeous. 🙂
Thank you my friend დ
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, Cindy – as always! Their colors are so vibrant, yet subtle, too.
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you more for your thoughtful appreciation Sheila & cheers! დ
Nature is amazing.. Not the suits are perfect for blending into the environment as such but so attractive as well.
In one picture, there are two of them. They look like a cute couple.
They are a handsome pair aren’t they! დ
Beauties!
Grazie დ
Beautiful colors.
Amazing, but the flashes of yellow and red actually help them blend in with Australian trees and flowers დ
That’s nice my friend, how’s your health and family 👪?
Doing well so far thank you, hope you and yours are too დ
Yes 👍 we are doing well. God bless you.
დ
Beautiful birds, they could hardly be seen in trees. Nature is truly amazing
Yes indeed, endless wonders to behold….. დ
THey sure can pull off those colors. Now if “I” wore them….oh my…..
Parrots would be landing on you!!! 😉
😂. that could be interesting. (a little side story…I used to visit an elderly man who had a cockatoo. The bird would sit on his shoulder all the time. On occasion the bird would take flight and land on my head and scare the bejeebers out of me. My elderly friend would laugh until he was crying. Makes me happy to think of that. :). )
Awww, why do I love this elderly man, his cockatoo, and you? Because all three of you are awesome. Thank you for making me smile დ

Aren’t they wonderful! They are sweet birds too დ
They are so beautiful! You captured their beauty so well.
Awww, means a lot to me! Thank you დ
They really master the art of camouflaging, but you still got fantastic pictures. So you must master the art of spotting! 😉
Thank you. Often, parrots in trees in Oz can be heard and not seen! დ
So beautiful. 🙂
I am happy you like them! დ
What stunningly gorgeous creatures! Thanks for the great shots, Cindy!
Hugs to you Resa დ
Hugs!
These photos are gorgeous as always. When you wrote, “Easy to hear, hard to see” I had to see if I could find what they sound like. I did and I see what you mean. They can get very loud!

Thank you for more nature-nurture today, Cindy. Just what I needed.
♥.
Yes. Parrots are loud birds. You can find them most easily by ear! დ
This is a beautiful bird and you did a beautiful job of capturing it’s image!
Thank you John, much appreciated დ
