So that’s what a Tasmanian devil looks like! He’s a cute little thing–but aren’t they known for powerful jaws? I think I’ll admire him from afar. I sure hope they can get them off the endangered list.
Yes, they have the most powerful jaw power to body mass of any mammal in the world and an attitude to go along with it when angry!
Great post, Cindy – I loved these creatures and their homes!!
Thank you Sheila! Both are truly wonderous.
The columns are truly unique and stunning. Thank you for showing me my first Tasmanian devil. 🙂
I am happy to make the introduction! Cheers to you Jennie დ
Cheers to you, Cindy!

Your photos are so wonderful! 🙂 The Tasmanian devils don’t look very devilish, do they?
No. They are super cute! But, I do hear they can have quite the attitude….and a bite to back it up!
I adore Wombats and all the wildlife in these pictures, thank you, Cindy. xxx
Wombats are just so adorable it is ridiculous!!! დ

Merci beaucoup mon ami Bernard!
Wonderful photos, Cindy. What an unusual place.
Thanks much my friend & happy you enjoyed!
The column has such interesting rock patterns. Nice collection of wild animals!
Yes. The columns were fascinating to me too, made of dolerite which is igneous rock. I wonder how far they stretch to the sea bottom.
What a wonderful group of beautiful creatures, Cindy. Gorgeous photos. Thanks for this visit to Tasmania. Hugs on the wing.
Hugs back to you Teagan & thank you for your thoughtfulness my friend დ
Such amazing photos, Cindy. How do you get so close?
Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you so much Felicia! I am quiet and still and keep the camera plastered to my face. Animals are curious about the lens. Happy post Mother’s Day to you my friend დ

Enjoy these lovely photographs from Cindy Knoke!
Thank you for your thoughtfulness Charles & hope you are staying safe and well my friend დ
Hey Cindy,
Austral-Tasmania has the best critters. Like the woolly mammoth, I wonder if they can de-extinct the thylacine.
Thanks for always stopping by. -AM
Even Los Angeles had wooly mammoths. They still do!! 😉
You know you like sleep when you’re dubbed sleepy wombat 😁
I can relate! Wombats sleep through everything 😉
Really lucky if you ask me 😅
Exactly. დ
Thank you, Cindy, for the info and photographs. It’s true that we learn something new every day – or almost! Although, recently, there has been a certain ‘sameness’ about my apartment…Take care. x
That is the wonder of life, it’s ability to keep on surprising us! Stay safe & well Joy დ
Once again, such gorgeous and fantastic photos <3
I have only seen Dolerite columns like that up here, of the Scottish coast on Staffa Island – breath taking: https://deborahjay.files.wordpress.com/2020/05/imga0025.jpg
Oh yes, they are beautiful and so similar! Thank you for sharing them Deborah დ
We visited Bonorong once while in Tasmania, great place. Good that they have a healthy population of Tasmanian devils since so many of the wild ones are dying off from an infectious disease.
Lovely critters. I’m finding some new birdies looking out my picture window – between the grey weather. I found out where two chipmunks are hiding… one by the back rock near the creek and another right in my front lawn!
Hope you had a nice Mother’s Day. My hubby made me Egg-bread toast and I did get a call from one of my ‘chicks’.
Oh and today I saw the geese had their gosling in tow! I even saw an white egret near a take out place where we were picking up dinner. (Near the pond by our local library.)
((Hugs))
Life is beautiful!!! You just told me so! Love to you sweet lady and stay safe დ დ
They are all such beautiful creatures and it makes me sad that we are continuing to endanger and eliminate them. Thank you for the beautiful photos to remind us.
Thank you more Marlene, for caring about them. Stay well my friend დ
Lucky you, Cindy, to meet so unique and rear animal nowadays. Have you seen some Tasmanian Devils in the wild or only in the Hospital?
Only in the hospital/sanctuary. I was able to get quite close though which was interesting and they weren’t in cages which was also nice. დ
Amazing travel and pictures, beautiful place! So lucky Cindy! 🙂
Thanks very much & happy you enjoyed! Cheers to you & stay safe დ
Tasmania. Now that is a place I must add to my Country Collection. I think That sleepy Wombat stole the show. LOL.
I think you are right!!! He just naps and grazes. Sounds ideal to me! 😉
I can’t tell you how much I always look forward to these posts Cindy. Your photographs are so vivid I almost feel as though I was there. The Columns and dolphins are breathtaking, but I confess my favorite is that adorable wombat!❤️
Awww, you motivate me! Thank you. The wombat is utterly adorable, I agree with you დ
Beautiful critters and landscape and as always very well photograph!
Thank you John & stay well my friend დ
Fantastic creatures!
Fantastic Beasts! Tasmania’s where you find them!! 😉
When I was a kid, Horniman’s Tea came with ‘wildlife mammals of the world’ cards, and a book to stick them in. They were numbered 1 – 50 and had info in tiny writing on the back. My first was an echidna which I’d never heard of & didn’t know how to pronounce. Now I know what one looks like in real life, not just a rubbish drawing! RH
What an awesome idea for the tea! You were better educated as child than I, as an adult. I photographed and watched him for quite awhile and had no idea what he was! I had to got back to my computer and google him to find out! დ
Wow, what great pictures of those dolphins! And what’s not to love about the sleepy wombat!
Thanks for beautiful photos, Cindy
Thank you Kathy for your kind appreciation & cheers to you my friend დ
Cindy your posts are spectacular. Thanks for the great photos, you’re great😜👊!
Thank you for sharing another wonderful journey, Cindy! I think my behavior is much more likeof a wombat. Lol Be well, stay save and enjoy your weekend. Michael
Laughing, yes the wombat and I are in perfect accord about how to face life. When in doubt sleep! 😉
🙂🙂 Thank you Cindy! Its my behaviour too. 😉 Best wishes, enjoy life and stay save.
Tantalizing Tasmania!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Love your alliteration! დ
Look at those dolphins! What grace and skill.
As for the land critters, your photos make me want to pick up each one of those animals and scratch their ears. Your photos have given them personalities…or perhaps it’s more accurate to say you’ve been able to capture their personalities.
Ahhh, so incredibly kind of you. Thank you & be well დ

My eyes almost exploded with wonder when I saw these amazing photographs, especially the echidna.
‘Wonderful’ is the only word for them, unless I resort to a simple ‘Wow!’
Ohhhh, so very kind of you! Your thoughtfulness has touched my heart. Thank you Lance & be well my friend დ
Beautiful! I would love to go there someday!
Thank you Pam & I hope you do! დ
Thank you so much, Cindy. 🙂

Stunning photos, Cindy! The Tasmanian devils are fascinating creatures and so cute to look at. It’s good connecting with you and thank you for following Eugi’s Causerie.
Thank you Eugenia. I look forward to sharing the days ahead with you დ
I’ve never seen a tazmanian devil before I thought they were a cartoon character! Really super photos Cindy that you for improving my general knowledge 🙂
So happy to introduce you two Charlotte. He is quite an unusual critter! დ
Wow! Great pics! Never thought i’d see a sight like those huge pillars. There’s something similar to that in Ireland – and their heritage sights – but not as big as those you took pictures of.
