Snapped this kestrel today on Vancouver Island. Super excited about all the critters I am seeing.
Cheers to you and more amazing Canadian critters soon~
We were just there. It gets wilder the further north you go. Today we take a float plane to a cabin where the grizzlies are gorging on the salmon run. Watched black bears yesterday. Hope all is well with you & cheers too~
Wonderful, Cindy! I am on Vancouver Island (it’s my home!!) and happy to see you in these local parts 🙂 Wonderful photo ~I hope the bird has a pretty voice as it sings too
Christy, I am so in love with this island and The Sunshine Coast. I wanted to move here when I retired, but my hubby was reticent. I just feel so comfortable here with the nature and wild ones, and their citizen protectors. I just learned that generations of Bartons (my father’s famiily) had settled all over Canada. I never knew this. Today was grizzlies, scores of them, river and sea otters, I could go on and on….
I’m not so sure I like Canadian birdies very much… The Toronto Bluejays just came into Seattle and took 2 of 3 games, putting a damper on our playoff hopes ~ your photos, however, quite brilliant like always Cindy 🙂
I was just in Seattle. I am still reeling from Pike Place Market. Fabulous and full of life, but oh so many tourists! It’s like Disneyland. I put off going there for years when it was less visited and this is my penance. Love all the volcanoes. Beautiful.
Summer at Pike Place Market can be miserable…in the fall/winter, nothing better 🙂 My grandparents met at a coffee shop here, so I love it when there is a more blue-collar, working atmosphere there 🙂
It was a Thursday mid September. Word has gotten out. The entire world loves Pikes Place Market for good reason. It feels very Latin American open market to me which I love, plus of course, we did go twice, to eat the seafood, which Seattle does like it should be done.
You can see why women have been wearing bird feathers for centuries. We envy birds looks for good reason. Birds are also highly intelligent but that is not so easily emulated~
think of all the “bird” adj and nouns that are applied and used to describe women.
Envy is right – you can wear the outfit, but it doesn’t make you the real thing.
Great picture!
This is a fuzzy shot where its feathers are all “fluffed up!” I like that it looks like it came from the local beauty shop and had a “blow dry!” 😀 Hugs to you, dear Cindy! <3
Goodness, what a complete joy to see and photograph. This little sweetheart must enjoy the temperate climate on the coast as I’ve not seen them in our hood. But I wish I did as she’s so beautiful. The beak looks more like a Budgie or parrot. It’s so different than most wild birds I see. Little poofy wonder. Was it chilly at the time? xk
What a beauty birdie1
Well of course he’s a Canadian!!
I remember seeing some amazing stuff on Bainbridge Island when I was in Seattle for a few days. That’s just down the road.

Retirement seems to suit you. 😀

So beautiful. Love the color of it’s feathers.
It is a beautiful little feathered dinosaur!
He is definitely the king of the castle.
He (or she) is so happy you think so. (So am I!)

Such expression! Such lovely textures. Amazing soft colors and patterns of the feathers. Fabulous bird.
