Columbia River Gorge (Oregon Side)~

We are staying in The Gorge Hotel built in 1921 where my grandparents once stayed,

with the wildflowers blooming,

driving up to find the views,

my grandfather painted in his Columbia Gorge paintings.

This observant robin didn’t let me distract him,

from his worm,

and this friendly elk licked our car windows!

Cheers to you from the gorgeous Gorge~

  1. How wonderful to be staying where your Grandparents once stayed Cindy.. The views are stunning..
And your Robin so very different from our native Robin here in England.
Have a wonderful time, Enjoy the delights of May.. 🙂 xx <3

    1. Now I am am off to google image search an English Robin…. Thank you dear Sue for your thoughtfulness and stay safe & well my friend ꨄ︎

  2. A window-cleaning from an elk?? Wow, impressive! And don’t you just love watching robins catch worms? They look so excited at finding dinner. Thanks for a peek into your travels, Cindy.

  3. What a lovely spot! Even more so because of the history of your grandparents!

Wildlife is drawn to you! Great pics!

    Happy Monday! ☀️🤗

  4. It looks so fabulous that I checked out the hotel. Lovely views and ambience. They have panoramic views of the rooms for other nosey people like me! How marvellous to share this view with your grandparents. The artistic genes live on!

    1. I am a nosy person like you.
      Constantly curious.
I scoped out the rooms like you.
We may be lucky in this?
Jim asked at least twice, “Have you been here before?”
      I hadn’t.
But he found the viewpoint my grandfather painted from.
It was this small rather odd looking Art Nouveau structure on an amazing viewpoint.

  5. From the wide vistas of the Columbia River and flowers, to the close-ups of birds and animals, thank you for these wonderful photos, Cindy.

    1. Oh Jennie, thank you so much more for what you do.
I told the twins last year in preschool, when they asked what the school sign said, it read, “Children Come First.”
      Owen was amazed
He asked, “Why do children come first.”
I answered honestly. He was fascinated.
But then questioned, with a octave raise in his voice, “Don’t grown ups matter too?”
I said, “They do. But not as much as you, and children do.”
      Love to you Jennie.

  6. Beautiful pictures. However most impressive for me is wildflowers one.
I remember from my youth the song, part of which is as follow:
    “Don’t pick flowers, don’t pick
    Let the Earth be decorated.
    And instead of bouquets give
    Cornflower, forget-me-not and chamomile fields”

  7. Spectacular photos, and fascinating to see an American robin. There is an eastern yellow robin that pops up in my Australian garden, which looks quite different. And I didn’t know that elks lick car windows 😊

    1. Smiling…. I didn’t about elk doing this either until it happened! I would so love to see your yellow robin. Thanks much for stopping by & cheers.
