Anxiously calling,

from land,

out to sea.

Others still must brave the waves,

to safely land.

The rocks are hard and the waves are big.

Finally resting,

reaching land is victory.

A kiss of encouragement steals the nerves.

Rest and respite so well deserved.

Cheers to you from La Jolla’s resting sea lions~

Wonderful shots, Cindy thank you for sharing.
Ditto, they are fabulous
Merci beaucoup mon Ami Sheree ღ
De rien
I am just happy you enjoyed them dear Ranu and thank you! ღ
Your blog is very interesting…
They truly do thread a story! May I ask what are the imperfections we see on the seal’s skin in the second photos?
This is in reply to Endless Weekend: What you are seeing on the skin is the annual molt. California Sea Lions molt their fur in Autumn to February. Females molt earlier in the season, and moles later დ
Thank you so much my friend. I hope all is well with you ღ
Your photos are astounding!!!!!
You are very kind Luisa & most appreciated. Thank you! ღ

Wow, so many . Amazing.
I never saw such a wonder.

This is some thing we can’t see in this part of the earth. I will save a clip from the lot for my screen saver.

There is something so endearing about a seal. I want to give them a big hug!
Yes! I think it is their soulful eyes ღ
Great pictures. They are rather compelling subjects I enjoyed getting up close and personal with them in the Galapagos.
Yes. They are wonderful beasties. They are fun to swim with too, if there aren’t too many of them ღ

how joyful!
Yes! Thank you. They make me smile ღ
I was going to say ‘Active lot!’. Then I saw them all zonked out. Great shots.
Thank you Margaret. I think they are pretty exhausted by the waves and storm. ღ
Perhaps they came ashore to escape those huge waves from the past few days.
Exactly right ღ
They are cute! Like dogs of the sea. 😊
Yes! I think they were called this in the olden sailing days ღ
True water dogs. 😊
ღღ
Fantastic series, Cindy! I love the way you’ve captured them at so many stages of their progress. Are the ones who have landed, calling out to the others? Celebrating their own arrival?
The ones in the water trying to land call out the most vociferously, but the ones on land who are missing someone call back too ღ
So cool!
yes.
Alliteration always alluring — Oh the heck with it. That was another fun post with great photos.
Subtle satisfied smiles 😉 😉
gorgeous shots captured, Cindy❣️
So appreciated Cindy. Thanks much & cheers ღ
Reminds me of my visit. Wonderful gallery.

So appreciated. Thank you Derrick & be well my friend ღ
I hope all the sea lions survived the storm without injury. It’s good to know how this crazy weather affects the creatures we share the planet with.
Thank you for caring Liz. The world would be a very sad place without all the wild ones. ღ
You’re welcome, Cindy.
Such interesting creatures. These photos make me smile.
Your lovely comment makes me smile ღ

They are a great sight. I used to see them when visiting relatives who lived in Santa Cruz.
My daughter lived there for quite awhile and my son in law still works at UC Santa Cruz. Small world ღ
These are so images Cindy.
Grazie mille Anita ღ

Superbes photos
Honored you think so. Thank you! ღ
Those sea lions look like they truly earned that rest. Great shots of them going about their “business” day!
So happy you enjoyed Bruce & thanks for letting me know ღ
These are a delight Cindy. We rarely get them here and create a beautiful stir when they do. Great share kind lady, they are natures water warriors 😀❤️🙏
So happy you like them Mark! Some people don’t like sharing the sea with them. I do, so thank you! ღ
Enjoy your weekend and also keep an eye on the waves while you shoot the seals 🙂
Yes. Critically important. ღღ
Wow I have never had an issue with comments from my followers.
Wonderful but keep track of the waves.
Exactly! Thank you Eunice ღ
Wonderful photos.
Thank very much & cheers ღ
Much to wonder here Cindy (your fault, thanks). What are those gulls so intermixed/seal cubs too mature to be at risk? Those “white gulls” are they something else or just adolescents? Score more to wonder about life half in the sea & half out – how much NOT like us. Good you showing us.
Those are Heermann’s gulls. Their range includes the west coast of North America down into Mexico. I don’t see them that often here. I am seeing lots of sea birds that aren’t in their designated places, due to the storm. (Love this!) Happy you like the critters Neil & cheers ღ
Fascinating images of the seals!
Thanks much Sharon & cheers my friend ღ
Gorgeous shots of these rugged sea farers Cindy🦭
Thanks much & happy you enjoyed the rowdy ones! ღ
Love the photos in this adorable post. Thanks Cindy.
Are Pinnepids Sea lions… I guess I should not be lazy and google that! ❦
No need to google since you already knew. So happy you like the finfooted ones Resa & cheers to you my friend ღ
ღღ
Wish I could sleep as blissfully!
Smiling. I hear you! ღ
Fabulous and beautiful!
Awww…. Much appreciated. Thank you Donna ღ
These photos take me back, Cindy! When we lived in SoCal we would sometimes drive to La Jolla and watch the seal colony in action.
I am happy you have experienced this Mitch. They are fascinating critters ღ
Bless their hearts. They work so hard and deserve a rest.
Yes thank you Sheila. Survival for them takes lots of work ღ
