Surfers amongst storm waves. North Peaks at Blacks Beach in La Jolla, California.

California’s huge waves disrupted lots of sea life. This Stellar Sea Lion snoozing on the rocks doesn’t belong in La Jolla waters. I am seeing exotic birds blown off course and lots of other interesting displaced critters I will be sharing with you in my next posts.

These surfers seemed to do more watching than riding.

Even the resident sea lions are agitated,

by the waves,

especially as they attempt hazardous landings on the rocky shore.

In the upper right you can see the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Park,

and in the upper left, Del Mar California.
Cheers to you from still stormy La Jolla~

Awesome as always. Well done, Cindy.
Thank you sincerely Michael.
You’re welcome, Cindy.
Cool pictures of those exotic animals. I would love to see them live in the real nature like these. It also reminds me of watching surfers riding waves in the morning in Fl. It was therapeutic.
Yes. Watching the ocean and all the critters in it is noture’s soporific.
Fantastic photos 🙂
Honored. Thank you Dave.
The sea can be both beautiful and cruel you have captured both perfectly, Cindy there are certainly some wild white horses breaking on those rocks.
Love your imagery of the Sea Stallions Carol & thank you.
I know that coast line well from when we lived in Costa Mesa and your pictures brought back some memories. We camped at Torrey Pines State Park once. Looking at the direction of the waves – multiple directions – I can see why the surfers would be cautious!
Yes. Those multi-directional waves would stop me from venturing near. Happy you camped at Torrey Pines and good you do it before all the crowds.
I hope Torrey Pines will not see part of the cliffs collapse like last year.
They are sandstone and quite unstable. It usually happens with lots of rain.
Stormy Waters Cindy, But those seals are riding the waves… So too, we shall ride the storms of life… Sending MUCH love for 2024 Cindy xx <3
Love this Sue! We’re riders of the storm.
We are indeed Cindy xx
I was wishing I was out there to enjoy the show, from a safe distance of course, as I looked at the photos last week of the gigantic waves. Thanks for sharing. Cindy.
Yes. It was quite a lot of fun. Wish you could have joined us.
And awe, I’ll bet! I remember watching them roll in like that a few times over the years…

I didn’t get a chance to see it in person, thanks for sharing these spectacular photos!

I hope nature calms down soon. I remember enjoying Torrey Pines State Park many years ago. Thanks for the memories Cindy!

Is this along famous 17 Mile Drive?
That drive is further north in California
Lovely photographs, Cindy. There’s been flooding at some of the South African National Parks and the elephants and hippos are distressed (read that as aggressive).
Oh No! I hope they will be okay. I will check the news. Thanks for the heads up დ
Yes beautiful waves!
Mother Nature’s Artistry in action. Happy you enjoyed დ
Looks beautiful and i love the sea lions🥰Especially that 1st one wh looks so comfortable!
He is definitely resting up after some very fine dining! 😉
Just how it should be!😅

Wonderful!
Thank you very much! დ
Some great views of the coast and wildlife!
I am happy you liked them. Thank you დ
These photos and documentary show what the sea lions were dealing with while we were also dealing with flooding at our house. I love all your photos!
Oh dear. Flooding is terrible. It happened to us around five years ago. I hope the damage was not too severe დ
Fortunately it was not, but I worry about these upcoming storms and need to get the city or jurisdiction to help us with a storm drain. Our house is so old, 1937, and the street around was probably built up after, along with the other houses definitely after. The new waterways created by climate change are all running towards our house! 😩
Oh NO! The houses whose water is running towards yours must correct their problem, not make it yours. I hope you get this solved and am sorry you are going through the stress. I wish you a positive conclusion დდ
