Looks pretty, Cindy. We had our first – and so far only – “snow” on November 12. If you can call some light dusting, that left nearly all of the grass to easily be seen, snow at all. [https://wp.me/p4uPk8-23K]
The allure of a placid lake quietly slumbering amidst a mountainous wilderness is unfathomably compelling: dust, granite and grace laced with elegance, flurried with snow. Wondrous to behold, delightful to view in your photographs, thank you 😀
Lovely colors and reflections! Snow DOES somehow accent or highlight a landscape. I saw this happen in upstate NY during the recent holiday season. Empty cornfields came into focus when dusted with snow — their geometric patterns revealing themselves due to the contrast of colors. Thank you for sharing. PS: I looked on a map to see where the Laguna mountains are. Snow in Southern California?! I guess it partly has to do with altitude…
It doesn’t just rain in Southern California, it snows! This year thankfully quite a bit so far. I agree with you about the visual appeal of snow. It makes for stunning vistas and photographs.
Cindy, do you really live in the Hollers or is this some version of paradise you aspire to live in someday? Regardless, you have some of the most gorgeous views in the world.
I love a “dusting” of snow. That’s enough for me. We have ours coming in the morning and I hope it’s just a dusting. Great shots of your views. Love that area.
Dear Cindy
oh dear, we envy you. We miss the snow so much. But in a couple of days we’ll drive up North and hope to have some snow there. In times of global warming it’s getting harder and harder to find places with real snow in the UK. We hardly have a season we would call ‘winter’ here.
Wishing you a great week

I didn’t know this and it makes me sad. We head to Oz soon and I know I will be grief struck by what is occurring there. Have a beautiful time in the north. We are heading to Greenland this year. I can’t get enough of the spectacular north. Cheers & thanks for stopping by~
It’s always great to see a little snow in the Lagunas, Cindy. When we were in SD at Christmas, we could see the snow on Cuyamaca from my brother’s home in Lakeside!
Not much snow there Cindy, just a dusting in the mountains. We are having the strangest winter. There’s a dusting here on our lawn but it soon melts when we get a warm day. We’ve had a lot of rain too.
Leslie xoxo
A wonderful photo “art exhibition.” Stellar as always. Well, snow has come to Vancouver and it is staying, with more to come. I feel like we are like the rest of Canada. Edmonton and Calgary have -25 C weather, with -41C wind chill. Meanwhile, I am in a warm coffee shop enjoying your post. Hugs!!!
Here it is January and our temps were in the 60s just a few days ago. No snow yet for us (except for a quick squall last week) and usually January is our coldest month,
A beautiful frosting on the Laguna Mountains!
Thank you Lavinia & Happy January <3
Such lovely vistas. I imagine the snow doesn’t last long??

So beautiful!
Thanks my friend & cheers!
I remember it snowing on the floor of the San Fernando Valley when I was a child. Great photo of the lake and mountains!
I remember it snowing on the coast as a kid. Maybe it was the same day!
1956 or 1957.
You beat me to that one…..a bit too early for me.
I thought so – I am, after all, a geezer.
No your not. You are experienced. <3 So am I! It is just a slight matter of degree.
Amazing photos!
Ahh, I am honored that you enjoyed them & thank you!
My pleasure, Cindy!
💗
Enjoyed the progression!
I’m glad you noticed! Thank you….
Such a glorious vista! It’s a wonder you can tear yourself away to travel. 😀
I do always appreciated coming home!
Thank you! Happy winter! 🙂
Same to you & cheers!
Gosh, Cindy, you almost don’t need to travel around the planet, you have Heaven on Earth on your own doorstep 🙂
Lovely landscapes.
Ahhh, so nice and so appreciated. Beauty is everywhere.
How fascinating to see the difference from one day to the next with that first dusting of snow.
Yes, thank you! Everything changes here when snow comes to the mountains.
how beautiful and serene… thank YOU… xxxoo
Thank you more 💗
Hi Cindy, the first snow’s always special, and an event I look forward to. We received ours in November, but sadly it hasn’t snowed much since!
I love the snow too. We had two big storms and are now waiting for more!
Gorgeous views! New snow always makes everything look more beautiful. ☃️
It makes for wonderful, clean contrast, everything looks clean and new <3
Beautiful…!
Thank you!

Your writing is so beautiful Dewin. You paint pictures with words.
Your photographs and succinct commentary are inspired by your own sense of beauty Cindy. As a viewer, I simply responds to that.
Enjoy a wonderful week. Take care of one and all at the Holler.

Take good care Dewin and thank you.
Thank you, and you.

We had our first taste of it at the lower levels today. Cold!
Yes, frost is blanketing everything now…

You are a kind friend and person Sheila. Thank you & cheers <3

We’ve gotten more snow since the dusting. With our drought, I love it all. Stay warm <3
Snow is always better than rain for droughts. It stays longer.

Cindy Knoke sends stunning pictures of the first snow in the Holler.
Beautiful photos – that’s how I like to see snow: from a distance!!
Laughing…..Understood!
I have enjoyed seeing the snow dusting the mountains – it is not a sight we see here very often.
Very happy you enjoyed Anne & thank you for letting me know <3
Fabulous 🌹
Ahhh, thanks so much <3
Amazing beauty, Cindy 😀
Very happy you enjoyed & cheers to you Irene <3
Thank you Cindy <3

And quite gracefully she did.
She is graceful and quiet (。♥‿♥。)
Such an interesting juxtaposition of colors and textures in this series of photographs!
Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated Liz, thank you.
You’re welcome, Cindy!

Hi. We’ve had almost no snow where I live (southeastern PA). So far anyway. It was in the 60s the past two days, which was very weird.
People are saying the climate is strange everywhere. It is now summer here, after really a lot of rain and snow, more in the forecast.
It’s always great to see a little snow in the Lagunas, Cindy. When we were in SD at Christmas, we could see the snow on Cuyamaca from my brother’s home in Lakeside!
I’m am looking at the same mountains right now. No snow now, but more in the forecast.

Yes, it is odd here too. Lots of snow, and then summer again.
Summer would be nice…. 🙂
<3
Lovely shots, Cindy.
I’d like to see the Snow Queen gently tip toe in over here. She iced in yesterday.
The Ice Queen is her sister. She is beautiful, but oh so cold!

Brrrr….The coldest I have been in is -50 below with wind chill. Tooooo cold!
I am with you!!!!
Snow has been dusting the tips of the hills around here as well, Cindy. Always beautiful. It’s threatening to come down here tomorrow. 🙂 –Curt
Yes, same here, storm on the horizon for tomorrow.
It’s snowing outside as I type! 🙂
Enjoy & stay warm.
Thanks!

People are reporting that the weather is whacky everywhere. It certainly is here.
Places like this show the true Church.
Absolutely holy!
Agreed <3
How gorgeous and peaceful, Cindy. 😊
Thank you Jane. I am happy you enjoyed & cheers to you!
Beautifully captured! Breathtaking views.
You are a kind friend Amy. Thank you & cheers <3
I love how you describe the Snow Queen as tiptoeing in. Perfect!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful!
