Of what we see.

What we perceive,

depends on where we look.

Beauty is everywhere,

just waiting to be found,

even on the cloudiest days.

Cheers to you from Olympic National Park~
(Note: We are home at The Holler now. These photos were from our May trip. I wouldn’t want you to think we are never home!)

Lovely photos 🙂
Thank you <3
Beautiful photos.
Thanks my friend. Loving your balloon series!
Such beautiful photos! 🙂
Honored. Thank you very much.
While all of the photographs are breathtaking, I particularly love the third one that is a study is shades of gray with two small figures where earth, water, and sky converge.
Thank you very much Liz. I am just starting to think more about black and white. I love the spare starkness of it when the subject is really beautiful. Thank you for noticing.
We’ll see more?
So kind of you Liz. If, for no other reason, than to do it for you, because you said this, you will. Be well my friend. I am glad to know you <3
Likewise, Cindy!

Well, we can all dream of it I suppose 😀

Oh thank you! I am just starting to use more black and white and I like the stark effect so I appreciate your comment. <3
Looking at your fabulous photos this morning is really invigorating. I may never see these sights without your blog. The art of buildings in the middle of nowhere is just amazing. I like the idea of seats in the middle of forests to just sit and take a moment to really look around.
Hearing from you is a joy Charlotte. Be well my friend <3
‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ‘ Beautiful photography, especially the first one. ❤
It took me awhile in life to fully appreciate what that quote means, and of course, the converse of it to.
A good record with profound captions
So kind Derrick. Thank you & cheers my friend <3
I love this post. You always have beautiful photos – that’s a given – but I like the text, too … plus the way the photos work to make the point. Simply excellent!
Ah, I am humbled and honored by your thoughtfulness Frank. Thank you.

you are so right, Cindy. beautiful
Thank you Beth & cheers to you <3
You have given us another series of beautiful photos – and thoughts to ponder.
What we perceive also often depends on who is looking and how our mood when we look.
Copying another blogger, I have started adding “date of our visit” at the bottom of my posts because some friends and family were indeed having a hard time keeping up with where we were at the moment. 🙂
Yes. We tend to think our perceptions are reality, when in truth, what we see, and don’t see, is much more complicated. Clever idea about the date.
These pictures and captions are so calming. I’m putting Olympic Park on our list for when the nest is empty!
Oh it will be a wonderful place to visit to commemorate your evolving role!
Good to be home and have such beautiful photos as memories. Home in U.K. now but miss Navasola.
I can well understand. Welcome home <3
Beautiful pics and great choice of words Cindy!
Merci beaucoup Gary!

Another beautiful collection. Thanks Cindy. I was in Olympic National Park once in the 90s!
Oh good! I am glad you have been. It’s a stunning moody place.
Agreed, beautiful in a dark, wet, moody way.

Here are beautiful photographs from Cindy Knoke!
Thank you more for being such a kind and thoughtful person Charles.
A great message. At my school crossing, we have a neighbor’s beautiful backyard behind us in the morning crossing. Time to time, I remind the kids to look at it and to look at their surroundings everywhere, because you’re right, we’re surrounded by beauty. Sometimes, we have to remember to look!
Yes! Thank you for helping the children with this. The sooner we learn to find the beauty, the better off we are.
I was beginning to wonder! lol These photos~ I was sure that was where you were. Oh, beautifully captured! Lovely post.
I am glad that you have been and thank you for your lovely comment <3
This is such a beautiful place. We watched eagles building a nest here. It remains forever in my heart. Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I walked out to this rock many years before to see the nesting eagles and got trapped by the tide. I made it back but not without swimming part of the way. Live & lean.
Lol. At least you have a tale to tell!
Laughing and I lived to tell it. I have since always checked tide charts carefully.
It happened to me once too, in caves on the East coast. Funny after the fact.
Exactly true. It is a most unusual feeling isn’t it, to be trapped by the tide.
What a stunning group of shots Cindy. Beauty is all around us, we only need to open our eyes and have a look!
Thank you my friend for seeing and hearing <3
Incredibly beautiful, Cindy! Hope to visit this park soon. Glad to hear you are home, maybe you’re planning your next trip? 🙂
Laughing. You know me…..
Beautiful and thoughtful: thank you!
Thank you more for your thoughtful appreciation.
That has to be logging country, great photos Cindy.
Leslie xoxo
Yes. It is. They clear cut patches out of the park.

Stunning images and scenery Cindy, the fog truly adds to the magic xxx
Very kind & most appreciated. There is something magical about fog.
Your photos remind me of what Ansel Adams said: “I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful, an endless prospect of magic and wonder.” Thank you for sharing some of the world’s magic and the wonder!
How wonderful! I hadn’t read this. Thank you for sharing brilliant Ansel.
Lovely pictures with the cloudy, fogginess… 🙂
Thank you. Sometimes ‘darkness visible’ is beautiful.
A profound thought to begin my day. I agree – life is a reflection and we must, must, must embrace our moments in the spirit of this idea. The quote that came to mind when I was view your exquisite photos was by Carl Jung: “Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their environment and especially on their children than the unlived life of the parent.”
He was such an incredible person. It took me a long time to really understand Jung, but once I did there was no going back. Did you know he was struck by lightening as a young man and was pronounced dead. He resuscitated, but his spiritual experience led to his subsequent theories. He famously said, “I don’t believe in God. I know God.” Not an exact quote but close enough. Thank you for sending another of his prescient thoughts my way Rebecca <3
I have goosebumps reading your comments. I did not know that he was struck by lightening. I first read Carl Jung’s book Memories, Dreams, Reflections in the mid 1990s. I didn’t have a clue what he was talking about when I first started out and tended to discount his work. How foolish. By the end of the book I was changed. Like you, there was no going back. And that gives me great comfort. Hugs!!!
For you Rebecca. With love.
There it is Rebecca. I am so surprised I chose the right interview to send to you, because there are many, must be synchronicity. The interviewer asks Jung, “Do you believe in God?
Jung says, “That is difficult to answer. I know God.”
This had a serious impact on me.
Thank you so much for this wonderful interview. Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. I am thankful that we have connected….
I am too Rebecca. Happy Thanksgiving <3
Welcome home! Tis nice to travel, but nothing beats coming home and sleeping in your own bed! These are beautiful shots, Cindy — thank you for sharing them here.
Tis true indeed and thank you kindly Debbie <3
Beautiful images, Cindy! But you are never home that’s why you have so many wonderful pics 😉
Laughing….I knew my clarification would elicit a comment of two, and I am loving them immensely! <3
And good for you that you CAN travel so much! You earned it!
<3 <3
Wow wow wow! I am in awe of the beauty from these photos!! You are so right – beauty is everywhere. We need only correct the lens through which we see 🙂 Blessings to you & yours! ♥
Sending blessings back 2UX2 <3
Wonderful reflections! Sigh!
Of course I don’t think that you are never home. I just wonder if you are ever home.
😀
Snorting….. I greatly appreciate your sensitive and discerning differentiation Resa. This is, of course, just one of the many reasons I love you <3
