A face only a mother could love?
Nah, I think he’s a looker!
Apparently the lobos girls agree!
Patagonian Sea Lions are larger than their northern counterparts, and genetically distinct.
The males can grow up to 8 feet in length and weigh up to 800 pounds.
They have the archetypical lionesque heads with manes of fur, which make them quite impressive.
They are a protected species as there are only an estimated 265,000 of them left in the wild.
Comments are restored and will hopefully work, and I so very much miss hearing from you!!
Cheers to you from El Fin del Mundo, Ushuaia Argentina, the southern most city in the world~
A cool post!
Yay!!! Back in touch with my friends! Thank you & cheers too~
I hope y’all had a great Christmas!
I hope you did too, and hoping you have a Prospero Ano Nuevo! <3
Awe, I love that face! Great pics Cindy.
Muchas gracias mi amiga. They have such soulful eyes don’t they!
They are sweet and having so much fun!
Which is exactly what we want all creatures, great and small, to be able to do!
Indeed we do!❤️
<3
What beautiful creatures they are. You took some amazing pictures. Happy New Year my friend!
Ahhh, so incredible to hear from you! I really have felt cut off and “at sea.” Happiest New Year dear friend <3
Sea animals always are cool… ehm, wait… Good to be able to send a greeting to you again Cindy. Hope you are having a good trip.
And Ushuaia is a very COOL place. Unseasonably so, now in summer! Still it is the my third time here, and I go on purpose, and this time I brought my adult kids along. Ode to Joy! Sending love to you from the southern seas~~
I hope you had a great Christmas. 🎄You seem to be having a fabulous trip. Wonderful photos. 🌝
And I hope you have the most awesome New Year! You have no idea how good it feels to talk to you!
enjoy your time Cindy 🙂 i can almost hear those sea lions…smiles from etown ~ hedy 😀
It is pretty amazing here. Nature still has the upper hand. God Bless Her!
How beautiful! Such cuties. You are so fortunate to see them in person. Hope you’re having a fantastic time and that your holiday was merry and bright.
I am so very happy to hear from you! <3 I hope you, dearest one, have all the blessings possible in the New Year. You deserve them all <3
Great shots as always! Always a pleasure.
Makes me happy. Thank you!
Awesome photos! Happy Holidays!
Visa versa 2UX2! <3
😃
Cute! More than his mom will think so! 😉
Yes! I think so too!
It is so sad to think about how the creatures of the world are becoming extinct – great photos of course and a wonderful share my dear HW.
Yes, Elon Musk is planning a future on Mars. I would prefer to put our resources in defending our only amazing home.
They are so very cute! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas my friend! Hugz Lisa and Lucy Goosey
She would meet the most handsome German Shepards here, guarding Usuhaia. Incredible guard and service dogs. So incredibly beautiful and well trained. If Lucy were here, she might turn their heads off duty…….
Love to you and Lucy!
I sure do love German shepherds! I dream of having a poodle someday though! Tee hee! German shepherds are sure very smart dogs!
<3
Wonderful photography. Any mother would love them!
Yes! Any would be mother too! Love to you~
It’s good to “hear your voice”again, Cyndy! Your photos are always great, but we have missed you: to read your comments adds another dimension! Have a wonderful trip. So glad your grown kids are with you – these will be life-changing days for them! You seem to be near “the end of the world;” where can you go from there??
It is so wonderful to hear from you!
And yes, it is pretty amazing to have my children here too. It is the end of the the southern world. And it is a risk to take them here because maybe they wouldn’t experience it like I do . We are having gale force 7’s and such. And lots of the God smacking scenery is obscured.
But still when the skies clear, it brings you to your soul.
The further south you go, the more incredible it becomes.
Antarctica seems to be God’s specific unruined home.
I haven’t taken them there yet.
Let’s see how they like this.
I think they like it, a lot.
It’s getting close to God’s unspoiled human world.
Nice shots, Cindy. 🙂
Love to you dear Ranu <3
Seasons Greetings Cindy, Namaste 🙂
Intrigued by the title I had to call by:
A ‘wolf in water’ caught my eye.
But as I now sit and keenly spy,
Lobos is more Lion than a wet-wolf on the sly!
~
The photographs are excellent – I learn so much by enjoying them as I do. Thank you 🙂
Best Wishes for 2018! 😀
Love and Peace. Namaste 🙂
DN
Wonderful to hear from you!
So much love to you. The farther south I go the closer I feel you!
Happiness and blessings to you in the New Year, and I hope we share the year together~
😀 Thank you: your welcome as a host is always so warm sometimes it is hard to leave: winter is upon us in the UK and judging by the sound of the wind whipping up a torrent outside, winter cometh with vengeance knowing only blind fury! lol
I’m certain we’ll share the year together: here on Word Press none of us are ever more than a mouse-click away from a friend 🙂
How far south have you now travelled? Shall I put the kettle on? 😉 lol
Have a wonderful evening. Namaste 🙂
DN
We are rounding Cape Horn as I type, rockin n rollin! It is extremely cold with high winds so I am sharing the cold with you!
I knew we had a connection if only by way of sharing similar weather 🙂 Mind you, I’m grateful to be on terrafirma in a storm.
Curiously my Wednesday 27/12/17 feels as if I too am afloat and rounding Cape Horn.
Hoping we’ll both have sunshine and calm seas imminently 😉
Namaste 😉
DN
Mercurial weather soul mates!
Hey Cindy, Namaste 🙂
Indeed it must be so for thee and I have connected across time and space sharing common denominators of weather and wily Lobos disguised as lions or is it wily lions disguised as wolfish Lobos. Crazy lol 🙂 Mercurial to the very last lol 🙂
Hoping the storm has abated and your view of Cape Horn much improved. Take care of one and all 🙂
Namaste 🙂

What a fabulous trip, Cindy! Thank you so much for taking us along! Beautiful photos. 💖💓
Thank you Amy and so look forward to actually being able to download your amazing photos soon. Happy New Year my friend!
Happy travel and Happy 2018, dear Cindy! 💖
Beautiful photos as usual, Cindy! Figured you were too busy for comments! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
It’s not busy, it is just super limited access to internet. It is frustrating. Thanks so much for reaching out, and I hope you have the best possible 2018, and that we can share the year together.
Such a sweet face!
Yes. It takes a good person to see it!
It’s good to have you back. Happy New Year.
Visa versa 2U!
Happy New Year, Cindy! Love the photos… <3 xo
Gracias y Prospero Ano Nuevo mi amiga!
These definitely made me smile with a chuckle. Safe travels.
So glad you smiled & Happy New Year!
They all seemed to love YOUR face! (As well they should.)
They are probably near sighted out of the sea!
Impressive creatures. Great photos of them. Happy Holidays where ever you are.
Visa versa 2UX2!
They have a kind of cute muzzle or pug like look. 🙂 Bet it’s a whole lot warmer down there in Argentina, huh than up here in Colorado which has been in the single digit temperatures for the last few days. We even had a white Christmas, but a warm family gathering. 🙂 Hope your Christmas was warm, bright and sunny. Happy New Year, Cindy.
It is very chilly in Chile and Argentina. After we round The Horn, it should start warming up. Stay warm and Happy New Year in gorgeous Colorado!
We will. Have a good one, too. Bet it is a beautiful country to see.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by “Write Light.” I love the photos of the sea lions. So different than those I’ve seen before. The feet blew me away. At first I wondered if it was a bird near the back of the sea lion, and realized those were amazing appendages for swimming. Imagine having feet like that. We’d be in trouble in the shoe store and on land! Your pictures made me want to go swimming. God bless!
Sweet faces ! ☺
So happy you see this & thanks!
Reblogged this on Talmidimblogging.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness & Happy New Year!
You’re very welcome Cindy and likewise my friend 😎
They’re kind of cute in their own way. How cold is it there Cindy?
Leslie
Today 9 degrees celcius with 34 knot winds. It’s chilly down near Chile!
That’s rather cool, Cindy. I hope you’ll show us more photos of Ushuaia.
Leslie
When I sea their handsome faces and I know you must be lion. They are seal-liously too cute! LOL! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, my friend. ☆*✲゚*。(((´୧(๑❛ั⌔❛ั๑)୨+)))。*゚✲*☆
You are the bestest and I hope your New Year is as good as you! ☆*✲゚*。(((´୧(๑❛ั⌔❛ั๑)୨+)))。*゚✲*☆

Danke mein Freund und ein frohes neues Jahr!
Great pictures, thank you for sharing these ! It should be mid-summer, where you are now, but I do not think the weather is too hot there… 🙂
It is summer and we are at The Horn right now at 9 degrees celcius with 34 knot winds and rough seas!
Must be a great adventure, really ! Hope, no one will be seasick and you will always have a favorable wind for sailing 🙂
Thanks so much, we have encountered quite a few gales, but no seasickness so your wishes are working!
Happy new year to all of you !
🙂
Those are big guys (and gals 🙂 ), Cindy! Such expressive, beautiful close ups! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you much joy in 2018.
Thank you dear Jo and New Years blessings flying to you my friend <3

Thank you for your kind thoughtfulness Patricia. You touch my <3 !
I think their faces are loved by anyone who see. I think they are cute.
This is why you and I get along so well! <3
Marvellous – both photos and captions
You are very kind and most appreciated!
Majestic. It’s been lovely seeing all your posts even if comments have been unavailable.
I am lucky to have friends like you! Happy New Year! <3
Good to have you back! 😉
Wonderful to hear from you and be back in touch!
Lobos del Marino…in Spanish, another thing one learns.
You said a “face only a mother could love”, lets be real not even the mother would love
that face, she might pretend like my mother but no way.
But they are actually cute in their on way. And as always fascinating to see these pictures of animals very close.
They are very similar to your bulldog who you have to admit is entirely adogable. Happy New Year Charly!
That’s true, they are both as ugly as ugly one can has, you made me smile here.
And I won’t say happy new year since it is 28th still, but today my mother has decided to bring me the bulldog to my “house”, hopefully she’lll remind to take some pictures, and by the way…. I need to clean this room, for the life of my mother!
You are a good son!
No I’m not, the poor woman a.k.a mother, I put her through hell by my actions, including joining the army, and later on when I left that life I screwed it up even more.
But thank you for the comment.
What amazing creatures, Cindy. You captured their personalities so well! Happy end of this year! Hugs.
Lovely to hear from you Teagan and Happy New Year from Cape Horn!
I’ve been enjoying your photo stories Cindy and am also glad to be back in touch. thanks for sharing your gifts with us. Hugs and holiday blessings, Brad
Lovely to hear from you Brad from the stormy seas off Cape Horn. Happiest of New Year’s to you my friend. <3
Enjoy!
So lovely to be able once again to congratulate you on all your wonderful pictures and adventures Cindy. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas – wishing you every happiness in 2018 and looking forward to our continued exchanges 🙂 xxx
Thank you dear Liz. I so look forward to sharing another year with you! Happiest New Year my friend~
Wonderful photos!
Muchas gracias mi amiga!
Such characterful faces. So different from seals.
Yes, in various languages they are referred to as either wolves or lions, creatures I am quite fond of.
I love their happy faces!!
Yes! I do too and cheers to you sweet Rebecca from the end of the southern world~ <3
What characters! Great captures Cindy. I am really enjoying your South American adventure! I hope you are too ❣️
Happy Holidays to you 💛🙏🌟
Sweet friend! Sending New Years blessings to you for an amazing 2018 <3
Just fabulous Cindy, what an amazing journey you are taking us on. Thanks for taking the time to show us these magical moments. I missed being able to talk to you. Hope you had a beautiful Christmas. Love and hugs from me and Jack xxx
There are Aussies on board and I told them about you and Jack and Matilda, and our plans to meet up on The Gold Coast. Happiest New Year to you and Jack!
I’m really looking forward to that. Will you be going home between trips or are you just keeping moving on…
We’re going home for a break, get used to our time zone again, just in time to drastically change it!
And a bit of a rest!
Dunno if it is intentional, but comments are closed on the 2017-12-11 post.
I had wanted to comment there that «flying rainbows» is great as a vivid short description of the splendidly photographed scarlet macaws in Costa Rica.
While the Patagonian sea lions are impressive (and also splendidly photographed), the scarlet macaws are in a class by themselves.
Yes they are indeed! Seeing them flying wild, instead of in a cage, was a thrill of a lifetime. I echo your thoughts completely, they are splendid, intelligent and curious creatures!
Very special faces indeed – but I like them!
Good! That is why you and I get along so well <3
What a terrific cruise this is, Cindy – I’ve been enjoying every post – esp. the birds! <3
Everyday is a cornucopia of amazing new bird species! I can’t wait to share them with you! <3
Looking forward to it!
Me too! <3
Precious in their own charming ways.
Muchas gracias amiga mia!
I have really enjoyed traveling along on your amazing trip, Cindy! What amazing creatures inhabit our unique Earth!
Yes, indeed, all creatures great and small! I am so glad you love them all too & I am happy you are traveling along with me. Happy New Year!

Wonderful photos of those ‘sea wolves’. What a fantastic place to be physically at the end of the world. All the best to you and yours for 2018.
Happiest New Year to you dear friend and lovely to hear from you! <3
And you. Enjoy your travels.
<3
ich möchte nun vier Tage vor dem Jahreswechsel nochmals herzliche Grüße senden im alten Jahr, Klaus
Fröhlichstes neues Jahr für Sie und Ihre Familie, lieber Klaus!
Loved the colorful Peruvian Artists and those brilliant red feathers. Looks like a wonderful adventure Cindy.
It is particularly nice because the sun decided to shine today and the temp rose out of single digits. Happy New Year to you Ruth <3
Those sea lions are cute! Like sea puppies! 🙂
Yes, they have limpid mammal eyes!
I love their faces. When I saw the first photo I couldn’t tell exactly what type of animal it was. I remember seeing sea lions profiled on a sea rescue type program and I was shocked to find out how massive they are. They are beautiful creatures.
They are amazing and I grew up around the nouthern ones and have always loved them. The northern ones are bigger and even more impressive!
What an experience it must have been to grow up around sea lions.
As I read your comment I was thinking I need to get to the zoo. While I’d love the opportunity to see many of these types of animals in the wild it’s highly unlikely I’ll be able to do so any time soon. But should the opportunity present itself I am thankful for the technology of cell phone cameras to see and capture these beauties.
I am so pleased you enjoyed them and thank you for taking the time to tell me! Happy New Year my friend <3
You’re welcome Cindy. Happy New Year to you and yours!!
Hope you enjoyed a special Christmas season and wishing you the merriest and happiest New Year in 2018, Cindy, husband and your family! 🎆 💞 🎉

Oh my goodness, Cindy! How ever do you have internet or time to reply,my dear? xo 💖 🕊 Thank you so much!
It is quite a challenge, but worth it to connect with my virtual friends like you Robin <3
It really is wonderful how many lives you touch, brighten and make feel better by sharing You and your beautiful photographs, Cindy. ❤
The same exactly can be said about you Robin. I look forward to another year of our virtual friendship.
I’m sure the number of people’s lives I reach are enough for my time I have, but I do admire how each person you “meet” becomes close as a friend.
I also look forward to another year of our virtual friendship, Cindy. Now, toot some horns or beat a pan tomorrow night! 📣🎉
I can’t tell whether they are kissing or mating, but I love them!!

Nature sure does express it’s uniqueness Cindy.Never seen a Lion like this. Was it mooching around?
Definitely! They are great moochers!
Such an adventurous way to end 2017. Next stop Antarctica. Ha ha! Happy New Year, Cindy! <3
No Antarctica this time around which is good as gales have been severe. We have been before though and I highly recommend. It is incredible!
danke für die Freundschaft, hiermit möchte ich mich vom alten Jahr verabschieden und dir und deinen Lieben ein gutes Jahr 2018 wünschen, Klaus.

It sounds Heavenly. Have a save New year’s Eve.
How exciting it must be to be in the southernmost city on Earth! I hope you’re enjoying yourself!
Also, an 800 pound sea lion sounds both magnificent and terrifying to me.
They are powerful creatures, made to survive in the incredible southern sea! I watched a guy snorkle with them which I would not do!
I definitely wouldn’t snorkle with an 800 pound sea lion!
You always inspire me, Cindy! May your new year be amazingly blessed for you and your love ones. Love, hugs, and blessings always my sister!
Blessings and love winging your way Wendell from Argentina <3

Aww, they are adorable!
So happy you like them! I apologize for my tardy reply. I am finally back on terra firma and trying to catch up!
🙂
As always, amazing photos. They sound like fascinating creatures.
Thanks so much and yes, they are powerful, intelligent, and resourceful! Happiest New Year to you Mary~
Happy New Year!
<3
Maybe it is the mother!
Happy New Year!
Yes, I think you are correct!
What great adventures, Cindy! I am enjoying your travels vicariously. All the best to you and your loved ones in 2018!
Same to you and your family, and so glad you are traveling along with me, even though it is harder on this trip to stay in touch!
So totally adorable 🙂 I once went for an early morning swim with some seals and sea lions in a sanctuary (not Patagonian ones, of course), and fed them some fish for breakfast. Sea lions have really tickly whiskers if they brush up against your bare legs 🙂
Wishing you a wonderful New Year, Cindy, filled with peace and joy.
What a wonderful memory! There was a guy snorkleing amongst these big guys but he was in a fell wet suit!
They sure are sweet looking…..until you see those teeth, LOL. As a kid of 14, I holiday’ed with a family down the west coast of Oregon. We stopped at a lighthouse in Seaside, Oregon where you rode an elevator down into a cave where sea lions swam into to rest on rocks. You also got an envelop of fish to throw out at them. I remember it being super loud with their honks for food. “Over here, over hear, over hear” it sounded like to me. I don’t know if it still operates but that’s as close as I ever got to sea lions in nature………hardly a natural habitat, LOL. xo K
What a fun experience that clearly stuck in your memory. When I was a kid there was a big storm and this big male seal lion used the high tides and waves to strand himself on top of a giant rock. He sat up there like king of all he perceived! He eventually got off, but I have no idea how!
I guess he’d have to swan dive off of there when he got hungry 😀 Now that there, would have been another great photo 😀 Kawabunga !
Laughing….he would have nose dived into the sand as the tide was not in his favor!
oh, LOL….and my maritime career comes to a swift and sandy end 😀
Hopefully he was bruised, but not defeated…..kinda like me on a very bad day!
Well, comments surely work, but my notifications for this post didn’t! Nonetheless, I’m in love with these creatures. Hopefully man won’t destroy them.
Eeeks. I hope it had to do with me being ‘at sea’ both literally and figuratively. Now that I am back on land after a month on the ocean, I wonder if all things will become normal! Laughing & hugs to you dear one <3
Those are big fellows! Thanks for the wonderful photos, Cindy. 😀
Thank you more for appreciating them! 🐧
Hi Cindy– what an adventure you are on??! And– 800 pounds??!! I can’t imagine them moving around on land! thank you for sending them our way… xox
They definitely lighten up in the water! 😉
Are you home?? What a fascinating place to travel Cindy!!
Not yet, but close, and finally on land with connectivity! Woo Hoo!
What a wonderful trip!! Going to check for more photos… xo

Just brilliant holiday photos, so fabulous that your adult children joined you, my parents aren’t going to shake us off 😄. Especially with such fantastic adventures you have. Happy New Year x 🙋🏼💕
We were together for almost a month. They just departed. It was so awesome to go off on our own devices in some city like Montevideo, and run into one or another of our kids by chance. Serendipitous and very fun. I hope you your parents do this sometime soon and Happy New Year sweet one <e
Thank you for your visit, Cindy. 🙂
