Would you like to live an alpine life,

by the lapping shores,

of a languid lake,

high in your mountain hideaway.

You might never feel lonesome,

with wild creatures for comfort,

because there is nothing more lonely,

than a crowd of people.

Cheers to you from some mountain sanctuaries~

Beautiful pictures, and so well said!
We all just want to be understood! Thank you~
Yes we do!
<3
One is never lonely when one is experiencing absolute peace. Thank you.
Those of us who feel such peace in solitude understand exactly what you mean and are grateful to you for articulating it so well~ 🗻
<3 😀 <3
Foto molto belle – complimenti –
Mille grazie!
Love the photos and the thoughts, eg, “nothing so lonely as a crowd of people” Solitude has its benefits. Once again, thanks for taking us with you.
You and I love the 🗻 🗻 🗻 Wally, and so we understand each other, which is always a wonderful gift. Be well my friend~
Oh Cindy… you are making miss the Sierras. 🙂 –Curt
Yep. I start missing them as we start to drive away! 🗻
Stunning views, Cindy. Very nice.
I am very pleased that you enjoyed!
lovely place and what a photography awesome and fabolous
I am honored and touched. Thank you and cheers too!
I love the photos, Cindy. Coming from Montana-Big Sky country, I got the same serene feeling looking at these pictures. Really nurtures the soul. Thank you <3
Montana wilderness is probably my favorite. I love it there and have spent a lot of time in Glacier National Park. Must have been wonderful growing up there~
My daughter is at Glacier right now, hiking, and sending tons of photos- it’s a breathtaking place!
Glacier and Waterton are absolutely incredible places with so many opportunities to see wildlife. Your daughter is lucky!
Sweet reminders of our visit to Rocky Mountain National Park two years ago. The first shot, especially, reminded me of one of the gorgeous lakes we stumbled upon – either Dream Lake or Nymph Lake, I’ve forgotten which was which after all the time.
Beautiful photos. They make me want to go back to the mountains, back to hiking woodland trails. I read once where it’s impossible to be in a bad mood when you walk through a forest. I believe that to be true!
I hope you go soon and am so glad the photos sparked positive memories for you!
Cindy, these pictures are lovely. They remind me of summers we spent at a lake in Northern Saskatchewan. Even though I was little I remember how great it was. Then in my “tweens” we were here in BC and summered at another more populated lake. However, it was still a simpler life than the city where my friend and I could go horseback riding in the day and to the fun park in the evening without our parents worrying. Now, in my middle age phase I still love going to a lake even for a day to feel the peace and calm it brings. Thanks for sharing and giving me my memories!
Comments like this make bloggin so rewarding! Thank you for taking the time to share your childhood memories. These memories form core inner resources in you that can be drawn upon at will to take you soaring back to these beautiful places whenever you want or need to. Be well Lydia and thank you~
Thanks, Cindy. When I went to my first pain clinic many years ago they told us to find a “happy place” where we could
Oops, I posted too soon.
We were to find a happy place where we felt happy and alive. For me it was a waterfall tucked in a little corner of paradise. You had to walk along the salmon ladders (which was awesome in itself) and over a couple of wood bridges. The trek took about a half hour on foot. The falls were noisy and there were only rocks around so it wasn’t beautiful but I felt like I could scream about my pain and only God and the fish could hear me. So, that is where I have “gone” in my head for 25 years of chronic pain. So, water has played a huge part in my life.
The power of visualizing a place in which you feel a deep emotional and spiritual connection cannot be underestimated. It is powerful and improves with practice as you well know. I am very glad you found your mental escape place~
Yes!! Such a wonderful retreat…but perhaps a few special family and friends along to share?😀😃 Amazing photos!
Yes, close family is always a comfort~
Gorgeous photos, Cindy. The peacefulness of the place is evident, and I love lakes with water so clear. Around here the water is brown and you can’t see the bottom except at the water’s edge. Thanks for taking me there!
Thank you more for traveling virtually with me!
Simply gorgeous, Cindy. Is this in Montana? We were just in Glacier and had such a wonderful time exploring its beauty. Great post!
Glacier is simply incredible, but this is the Eastern Sierra in California~
I wondered, thanks.
Lucky you for just being there!
Just beautify, I’ve got to get up that way again.
You can never visit here too much!
Beautiful!
Ah, thank you John and hope you are well!
An Incredible Beauty…
I am honored. Thank you & cheers too~
Only if I can have wifi and regular supply visits from a brawny mountain climber with curly dark hair, a scruffy chin and a penchant for bringing me chocolate.
Just you, Daniel Boone, and the bears!

LOL Um… bears?
Bigger, hairier, and brawnier than Daniel Boone~
Beautiful Cindy. Thanks for sharing your mountain sanctuary. I’d like to visit. 🙂
You are most welcome Brad and I hope you do visit!
Thanks Cindy!
thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photos Cindy
Kisses
Merci beaucoup mon ami!
oh je t’en prie Cindy, plaisir
<3 🗻
Your landscape photos are simply AWESOME…like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for also stopping by my blog.
Thank you and welcome! It is a pleasure to visit your blog. Bloggers provide a different forum than is available in mainstream media for viewing the world and it is a forum that I treasure. <3
😍😍😍 I love this place 😍😍😍
I am very pleased you love the 🗻 🗻🗻 & cheers to you!
Your photos of these breathtaking views are excellent. I can only imagine how gorgeous the views must be in person.
Thank you my friend. It is hard to the beauty and serenity of an alpine lake. 🗻
You’re so right, Cindy — crowds can be very lonely places. Thank you for my Calgon moment this morning!!
Laughing, we need our Calgon moments and I am happy to provide you with one!
Thank you, Cindy, for this visit to alpine solitude. Your photos are gorgeous. And I am happy you’re enjoying the mountain sanctuaries.
I wish I was still there. But I am definitely enjoying the memory of 🗻🗻!
Lovely prose. Beautiful photos. I am a water girl. I need to be near water, but alas, unless my sprinkler system goes off accidentally and sprays me in my bed, the only water I feel is when my aid washes my hair 🙂 Thank you for sharing this inspiring post.
Ahhh, so sorry. I wish I could transport you there. <3 <3
Cindy, there is nothing as gorgeous as an alpine lake! Your photos honor these spectacular places!
I know you and I love mountain lakes and spend lots of time on their soothing shores!

So beautiful – and true. I love your sculptured tree post too. And the Wild West “maintained but not improved” – lovely.
Awww, very pleased you enjoyed and thank you!
Wow! Nothing tops Mother Nature in beauty! Looks like big animal country to me! 🙀😄
Yes, and I got up close with a black bear cub. He hightailed it away from me like nobodies business!🐻🐻

Reblogged this on penpowersong.
You are a very dear friend. <3 Be well~
I’d love to live in an alpine valley in August; not so much in January.
Yes, unless you like to ski or snow-shoe, and in California, where this is, it is not long at all before spring comes. Plus we need more SNOW!

This is a magical place!
It is and I am happy you see it! Cheers to you~
From the mapping and feel of ghost towns of your last post, to this incredible view of mother nature and her valley’s and vistas ~ magic indeed. I like the line “nothing more lonely than a crowd of people…” 🙂
Some people love being in crowds of people. It depends where you fall on extroversion vs. introversion scales. In crowds, I feel like a lemming being dragged towards a cliff! 😉
Ha, ha ~ yes, I feel the same 🙂
suspected you might~
I am not positive if I wrote a comment about the beautiful, placid lake photographs, Cindy. I love the way they look so clean and clear, the reflections are gorgeous. I would like these locations as a “getaway,” maybe I could visit you? 🙂
I would miss my small town life with my seven grandies and my three grown children living close by. . . Hugs, Robin xo
You should visit Robin but probably not move permanently! You have too many important reasons to stay where you are. Be well my friend~ <3
A breathtaking series of landscapes! Just beautiful!
Aww, I am honored. Thank you Robert and thanks for stopping by~
Making a farmhouse near them..
Beautiful landscapes, Cindy. I always enjoy “tagging along” on your travels! Where to next?
I love traveling with you! Next we going to Vancouver Island to watch the grizzles go fishing. Bring your jacket! 😉
awesome pictures <3
Muchas gracias mi amiga y abrazos~
What a beautiful, peaceful lake. I can see myself kayaking or paddle boarding on it and watching the amazing scenic views. 🙂
Twould be wonderful!

Gorgeous photos!
Most appreciated & thank you!
the last shot I recognized! Thats the south shore of Mono lake. You must of been up on the ridge to the west looking down? Nice spot & great shots Cindy!
Exactly! The photo above that is also Mono Lake taken from The Parker Lake Trail near June Lake.
What a stunning location Cindy – this is definitely a place I could find piece and relax. You can’t beat that view!
A perfect spot for a laid back life which is my kinda life! 🗻
Another stunning post Cindy. Being in the foothills of the Pyrenees, it is not quite so high and instead of a lake it is where the Pyrenees bow to the Mediterranean. I’ve always had salt water in my veins so it seems we both have it all! 😀 xx
Lucy you! I can’t wait to be back in Alsace, eating!!!!

With the beautiful nature surrounding, how can one be lonely. Great post, Cindy!
Thanks Amy! I am responding even though my responses are not showing up~ ):
There is nothing more lonely than from a crowd of people…How true!
So glad you understand and so sorry this response may not post. My responses to comments aren’t posting on my blog.
Its ok Cindy! Msg was for you! Glad it reached you! 🙂
“Would you like to live an alpine life”
In this setting…, from May til October, then I’d have to head for a nice beach in Florida, Cuz. Both hold a great amount of beauty and attraction for me. 🙂
I hear you and I know this would be an ideal life for you~
Amazing place
Yes! We need places like this~ 🌳
