Amazing skies
So pleased you enjoyed nature’s nightly gift!
Incredible photos. ironically, the fox shows a lot of the same coloration of a bluebird…..wow.
Wow is right, I never thought of this and you are quite correct!
Sometimes I am jst strange Cindy. But it was the first thing I thought of and the difference between the two speicies and the irony of it.
Well, and they both have such an unusual set of combo colors. It’s not at all strange, you are artistically visual~
Lovely.
Danke schoen!
Cindy, gorgeous images. Thank you! Hugs! Veraiconica
Hugs back you my friend and hope all is well with you~
Cutest little sea lions …
Don’t you love the three look a likes stacked on top of each other? How are you? Do you have kidney stones? Have they passed? Are you okay? I have heard this is sooooo painful so I am soooo sorry! Hugz and get well! <3 <3
I do have stones. A few have passed. A few are being devilish and refuse to go away. They bring much pain, but they will pass before i do, and so there you have it! I do love those little look alikes! So precious!
Stunning pictures, Cindy, and I especially loved the sea lions. Very nicely done.
Cooperatvie species aren’t they, sharing their space like cordwood! Humans could learn a thing or three……
Sorry, sunset, but I really can’t get over how cute the little fox is. For once sunsets take the back seat in the beauty stakes. 😉
I agree. I am now in love with foxes!! They were sooooo much fun to watch. So mischevious~
That photo is mug bonita!
Muchas gracias mi amiga!
As always, so beautiful 🙂 🙂
Ahhhh, thank you! <3
Amazing great photos Cindy 😀
Honored and happy you like them! Cheers to you~
Very beautiful, all. Love the sunset photo.
Amazing that this paradise is in proximity to LA~
Yes, it is. The last time I was out there in the LA area was many long years ago when we drove out on a spring break when our youngest girl was in high school. Things had changed so much. The downtown LA was kind of trashed looking, not very neat and so different the way it looked in the latter sixties and 1970 when we finally moved from LA after living there for 4 yrs. while my husband was in seminary. Our oldest girl was born in the valley area (a suburb called Panorama City). I loved all the trips to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, etc. and up to San Fran and down to San Diego while living there. Highway 101 I think it was called was a favorite route up to Marineland we loved driving, and along the coast. Very pretty.
Always spectacular!!!
Merci beaucoup! I have been over to two of your blogs looking for your posts but couldn’t find any. How are you?
I am doing welll – have a couple of work projects on the go. Still blogging…. Hugs coming your way!!!!
So happy to hear this. Where are your posts? I checked both clanmother and chasing art????????

Thank you Cindy! What a beautiful place! No wonder so many people choose to live in California.
Despite the fires, earthquakes, mudslides, gang related crime, it has compensating factors. Thank you so very much my thoughtful friend~ <3
Love the sunsets and the seals. Seals always look as if they can make themselves comfortable anywhere and emanate that sense of being comfortable. 🙂 Good stuff. 🙂
I do agree with you, much like very large sea cats or lazy lions! 😉
incredible awesome photography:) wow
Awww, so kind and so motivating!
What a beautiful animal the fox is and the sea-lions are so sweet, cuddled up together. Lovely animals and sunset, Cindy 😀
Thank you James and happy weekend!
Wonderful photographs Cindy, thanks for posting them.
Thank you more for appreciating them Ranu~
Gorgeous sunset Cindy and there are those eyes again…
Hi Pauline, foxy eyes! Incredible aren’t they!
They certainly are
Beautiful sunsets!!! I just adore that fox!! Hugz Lisa and Bear
Hugz back to you guys and hope your hubby is doing better!
A stunning gallery but I especially like seeing the sea lions. Thanks for your visits, likes and comments on my blog, Cindy.
That is a no brainer Ruth. Your blog is awesome!
Gorgeous!
Mil grazi~
All marvelous–but it’s hard not to be enchanted by the fox and seals.
I have always been thrilled in the presence of wild animals. They fascinate me~
Wow, what an inspiration!
Leslie
Awwwww, that is so motivating! <3
These pictures a re simply stunning – the colours of animals who blend into the background, from bird to fox to…. amazing. You keep adding places for me to visit to an ever growing list. THANK you for the treasures you share.
Blessings Susan 💖
Thank you so much for allowing me to share them. A shared experience is a better one. Cheers to you my friend~
I lived in LA area for thirty years, one of the most calming things I could do was go down to the beach and listen to the waves and watch the beautiful sunsets. All my problems in the world would evaporate when I did.
Isn’t it amazing how nature does this? Even close to LA! 😉 I wish more people would realize how healing the natural world is to the body, mind and spirit. One senses in nature that one is part of a much more important whole. This is soothing and calmning. Cubicles and urban crowding create stressed out psyches. Get out of the florescent lights and sit while the sun sets!
Beautiful photos Cindy! Thank you for sharing them 🙂 I usually read the blogs I follow to my morning coffee, and this made for a good start of my day. Thank you!
Then posting this was important! <3
Very beautiful. 🙂
Danke schoen!

Although Cindy Knoke is back from her European Grand Tour then is no shortage of spectacular scenery that begs to be photographed… seals and foxes and a glorious sunset.
Oh so honored and most grateful! Hugs to you my friend~
Beautiful! 🙂
Merci beaucoup!
Breathtakingly spectacular. <3
Awwww incredibly kind! Thanks so much~
I did archaeology on San Nicholas Island as an undergrad; they flew us in on a tiny little plane every other weekend for a semester. The wind howled and howled! It was so surreal. The foxes were my favorites, and the walruses and seals. Good memories!
Where were you studying and when? I believe this island is not part of the NP and is inhabited is this correct? The Navy uses it for weapons testing and telemetry. You must have been excavating Chumash sites? How cool there were walruses. Where did you sleep? Have you posted on this? Enquiring minds want to know……My son did a lot of field research on the islands as well and he is the one who introduced us to them. He feels as you do about them. Wonderful memmories!
Hi! I measure my life in apartments and degrees. San Nicholas Island was 12 apartments and 3 degrees ago. Since I have only started this blog a couple of weeks ago (i.e., zero apartments and zero degrees ago), please forgive me for not having blogged about it yet. I actually hadn’t thought about San Nicholas Island for years, until seeing your adorable fox! It was an undergraduate program with CSULA. San Nicholas Island is officially uninhabited, and you are officially not allowed to go there, as it is protected. In reality, some people do stay there temporarily: military personnel, scientists and archeologists. They do military testing on San Nicholas, as well as non-military research. We were staying in a military hotel. I don’t know what you mean by “NP,” but it is a part of the Channel Islands. I don’t remember the name of the sites we were excavating, but judging by the Wikipedia article, they probably belonged to the Nicoleño people. What does your son do?
Some of the channel islands are now national parks, hence the np. San Nicholas isn’t, nor is Catalina. Your description of your stays on the island remind me of when I stayed on Treasure Island in SF after it was offically closed by the Navy. I stayed in the female officers barracks and I was the only person there. It was pretty awesome walking around the island at night. Your experience sounds incredible. My son is a biology grad student studying rattlesnakes. Welcome to Blogging! It is so much fun and you get to blog about whatever you choose with no apologies what-so-ever! I am just a nosy blogger. Cheers to you and great to meet you~
Awesome (to rattle snakes)! Great to meet you as well!
Ps: What were you doing on Treasure Island?
The Navy sent me to do a survey of the needs of military families in the Bay Area.
Beautiful Cindy.
Merci madam!
Didn’t you have fun, Cindy! Such a pretty fox too 🙂
Almost as much fun as you! Actually we both have fun. You’ve got to while you can right! <3

Love the fox pic, Cindy! One of my favorite creatures – that is a great portrait.
One of my favorite animals too, so glad you enjoyed!
It is beautiful!!!
Tis a beautiful planet as you know better than most. Thinking of you~
The opening pic stopped me in my tracks.
That is a very good result! 😉
It is definitely an art catching those amazing shots like an artist! Simply no different!
Awwww, you are so kind. Mother nature is the most rocking artist of all isn’t she! <3
Wonderful photo
I greet and wish you a nice Sunday
You too my friend and many thanks~
Heavenly shots! Thank you for making my morning so beautiful.
Thank you more for the appreciation! <3
Seals are amazing and love the sunset Cindy
They are a lot of fun and they bark like very rude dogs! 😉
The subset silhouette could be on any postcard or travel brochure!
Awwwww, so encouraging! Happy Sunday and mil grazi~
Fantastic channel island photos! and you included that lovely little fox 🙂 Those trees are awesome…they look so exotic, I wouldn’t expect to see them here. The sea lions look wonderfully content and happy too!
National parks are precious places where animals are unmolested by humans and so they are happy places too for humans! I hope you are well my friend~
amazing photos – 🙂 <3
Mil grazi~
That is the most adorable little fox!
I agree. Fantastic, tiny, smart foxes!
Loved that sunset, Cuz. Already homesick for my warm summer and it’s more than 9 months away. …And the fox is just toooo foxy !
I think you need a dose of California sunshine! We could swap houses. You can handle the holler critters/hummers and soak up the endless sun with no rain in sight, and I can take care of Lily cat and soak up the glorious rain. Trading spaces as it were…… <3
You really tempt me, Cindy !
Well you are due for some sea and sun. The Carribean is always nice and so close to you too!
Wunderschöne Bilder liebe Grüße und einen schönen Tag und eine glückliche Woche Gruß von mir Gislinde
Guten Tag Gislinde! Danke schoen Freundschaft~ <3 <3
Gorgeous, Cindy! Have you ever taken photos of coyotes, my wild neighbors in Arizona?
Oh yes!!! Many! We have several groups of around 60 or so coyotes at The Holler. They are the Lords of the Night! Here are my most recent pics. All coyote pics are under category Holler Happenings:
http://cindyknoke.com/2014/10/15/holler-homecoming-hoedown/
Heading over to your blog now to see if your posted on your neighbors!! 😉
No coyotes on my blog, must change that! But one did make my twitter feed 🙂 https://twitter.com/AngieMc6/status/363847749801754625 Thanks, Cindy!
That is one skinny coyote. Good you have the fence!
A-MAY-ZING
I wonder if I would ever have checked these islands out if it weren’t for my son. They are wildlife sanctuaries housing so much wildlife, incredible that it is so close to the urban quagmire of LA.
Beautiful pictures–what picturesque locales!
They are really are exceptional and I am defintely going back to visit the other islands and spend more time~
The sea lions seem to enjoy the sun-bathing, Cindy. 😀
Maybe that’s why they call them (lazy) lions!!!! 😉
I love their funny grins and sounds. 😀
I do too! They seem normally happy, unless a shark is after them of course~
Stunning photos <3 I truly liked them!.. Wishing you a great day Cindy. Aquileana 😀
You are an awesome blogging friend my dear and I love your erudite blog!
It looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

you are truly blessed to live in an area that has so much outstanding beauty. I wish i was there with you. Eve
The Holler is not for everyone, it is very rustic and isolated, but it suits me perfectly. I am so glad you like and cheers to you~
Great pictures! I enjoyed them all, but love the sea lions. LOL You are blessed to be surrounded by such beauty! 😀
Why thank you! Beauty is everywhere, it is just a matter of seeing~ <3

I loved this set, Cindy, my two favorite shots are of those lazy little seals resting on the buoy. And of course the fox —they are such handsome little creatures. Your photo of him is amazing. I am assuming you were using a zoom lenses for the capture?
Yes, I was on zoom but they also let me get fairly close after awhile. Those sea lions always crack me, so photogenic! So happy you enjoyed & thank you~
