      1. I know they are big.
Long time ago, when I was a boy, beside my parents home there was an electrical pole. Every single spring the white storks family came back to their nest on it.
They were beautiful, big, and very interesting birds.
Unfortunately, here in North America we do not have them.

      1. It is very encouraging! Funnily enough, after I responded, I did some digging and it seems that population numbers here are indeed on the rise and have been doing so for the last few decades. It has apparently taken this long for the near extinction caused by the fashion for their feathers to have readjusted itself!

        1. This is wonderful news isn’t it. People used to want steal bird’s beauty. It doesn’t work. All it does is eliminate the birds and feathers look best on a bird.

  1. Beautiful Cindy , and it’s amazing what can be done on one Leg! 😉 Great bird and Totem …

“The white heron is regarded as a representation of innocence, grace, and fresh starts in numerous cultures all over the world. ”
An auspicious Sign for New Earth in 2023 I think.. 🙂 💜 🙏💜

    1. Thank you Dale. I thought it was most considerate! 😉 I apologize for the late response. I found your comment in my spam filter along with 12 other comments from bloggers I know well დ

      1. No worries my dear Cindy. You found me! And my spam gets so ugly, I don’t even check when I empty it – which is awful but when there are 175 pages of it…

  4. Whoa, look at his eyes!! They’re an amazing color. I like that he came to you for his photo shoot, too. See? Word is getting around how good you are, Cindy!

  5. Spirit has given you a lovely gift Cindy, they now come to you, attracted and in fact groom themselves for the shoot 😂 A beautiful bird dear lady, thank you for the share 😀❤️🙏🏽

  6. Of course, a lovely study in herons. Statuesque (sp? had to look that one up). Why does that make me think of you? Don’t know. Take as praise, if you please. Moreover, me don’t mind making up myth on the spot. Good fortune then, this heron on top of your roof. Better than me climbing up there! Fun is also a good word describing you.

    1. I love it when these BIG Birds drop by. The first time a Great Blue Heron showed up at my front door, I glimpsed it throught the glass and my first thought was, “There’s a dino at my door!” 😉

  8. Simply outstanding…. Word is out in the Holler avian community now, and I’m sure many more will arrive hopeful and ready for their “close up.” How absolutely wonderful for all of us! 👍😁.

  9. Cindy, beautiful photos… and you know I want to pat him or her. It’s a thing with all birds and me. Pat, pat, pat, make them boing on their cute short or long legs. So, this one is not as large as an ostrich: ) hooray for me.

    1. Laughing…. He has this like 6 inch long knife beak that he uses defensively if he feels threatened and he goes for the eyes. I was told this when I called animal rescue to save a Great Blue Heron that took up residence by our front door. Giving them space works well. I have followed them around while they hunt at The Holler and they aren’t bothered if you respect their space. They remind of dinosaurs. I love them too, but I wouldn’t try and hug them! 😉 😉

  10. Dear Cindy
what an elegant bird. We have here lots of little egrets but unfortunately not these great egrets. Thanks for sharing

    1. Yes! Common is good news. White herons were almost a decimated species, men and women, contemporaneously, and historically, liked to wear their feathers. White Herons are recovering from our absurdity დ

Such an elegant bird landing on your roof. We have lots of hawks and crows landing on our roof.

O/T: Letting you know, it seems WP is back to disappearing your likes. You left a couple of likes when you came to visit. We received the notification, but no like. Dad said they’re notorious for doing that to you.

    1. Wonderful that you get hawks actually landing on your roof! I just discovered a bunch of bloggers I know well whose comments were in my spam filter. It is blogging with artificial artificial challenges! It won’t stop me. Thanks for letting me know about the likes. Heading over to your blog now to leave some more likes and see what happens. დ
