Beautiful, Cindy, as always. Thank you for the lovely things you have said to me over time. I look up to you for all you do. Will wish you and your family a very blessed Christmas now!! 🙏🏽❣️ And hope you have a happy year of photography and love!
You just gave me the most amazing Christmas present. You have touched my heart dear friend and made me teary. I wish you and yours all The Blessings of The Season & A Happy and Healthy New Year. I so look forward to sharing another year with you my kind friend. 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
Beautiful photos, Cindy. I see that the trees and grapes are getting water, but the grass looks so dry. Every time I’ve driven through California, it seems to be dry, dry, dry. Just imagine how it would be if it had the rainfall Hawaii gets.
The second and the last photo’s are like a patchwork quilt, it is a beautiful scene Cindy. And the dryness around them are like a frame (not much rain?). Interesting the different shades appear to be different varieties of grape responding to the fall temperatures. As a kid I used to work at a couple of the big vineyards over here but they didn’t have a display like this. I think in the early days they were mainly one particular variety and only expanded many years later. Great pictures dear lady, a lovely landscape of color 😀❤️🙏🏽🦋🎅🏽🎄🎁⛄️
You thoughtful comments Mark are so sincerely appreciated. Yes we are in a rather catastrophic ongoing drought. You can clearly see the effects on the surrounding vegetation. I too was pleasantly surprised by the variation in hues of grape leaves. It made for quite a contrast with the dry surrounding scrub. Thank you for ur discerning eye and very kind thoughts დ
And thank you for sharing such a delight, even among the strains of a drought. Nature is a beautiful creature, even among these times. And a Merry Christmas Cindy, may there always be many presents in the lens of your life 😀❤️🙏🏽🦋🎅🏽🎄🎁⛄️
I hope to someday get out there to see this part of the US, and the photos are certainly advertising Fall as the best time to do so. These pictures are beautiful, Cindy!
Thanks Cindy for this vision – by no other word so well – homesick. My old home is Northern California (SF Bay Area), but Santa Barbara too has those softly rounded sensual dry grass brown hills mapped by giant oaks. No longer my home, except in my bones and heart, forever. Not so much the grapes, although more and more small repurposed older farm lands now to family wineries. But still… beautiful, how you share, how you see.
I was born in SoCal and have lived here all my life and I know exactly what you mean and how you feel about Cali. She is so beautiful, with such varied terrain and so many National Parks all of which are quite unique. I love your description of the soft rolling hills with oak and sage. It is a subtle beauty that is etched into our collective Cali consciousness. Thank you for your beautiful thoughts Neil and be well my friend დ
He has been on my mind! So happy you stopped by. You dad is in my thoughts and prayers. Please let him know I am thinking of him. I loved hearing him sing in the latest post. I couldn’t comment. You are such a talented family. Merry Christmas to all the Ramos clan! 🌟🙏🕯🎅🎁🎄
Thank you! You know how much I adore incredible Oz. It is like no place else on the planet. I can never visit enough, or not want to go again. Kakadu got nixed due to covid, but tomorrow is another day……Happy Holidays 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
Gorgeous, Cindy! Great shots, and they make some amazing wines in California.
Our wine region has a shorter season, so when the grapes freeze, they make ice wine.
It’s really thick and sweet. The white ice wine is perfect for over vanilla ice cream.
I love ice wine. I am more familiar with the German version, but my husband is the oenophile and I am sure he is familiar with the Canadian version. I would like to try it! Happy Hols Resa & thank you! 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
This morning we visited a Santa Barbara (de Nexe) that looked very different, Cindy. An uphill climb to 2 windmills, one whole and one ruined. But our vineyards look very similar in their russet tones. Cheers to the differences and a very happy festive season, Cindy.
Yes! I was just talking to someone from Austria who noticed the same thing. I have seen this in Europe in several countries. I was immediately reminded of this when I saw the vineyards. I have been to The Algrave Region & Duoro Valley, but never in the fall. It must be incredibly beautiful. Enjoy & Happy Holidays🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
We are far behind Illinois where my family originated from. These were taken at the end of November. At The Holler our trees down by the creek turned at the same time. Quite beautiful. I should post them. Now the leaves are gone as nights dip below freezing and we wake each morning to a blanket of frost, but no snow. Happy Holidays Debbie & stay warm! 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
Maiko! How wonderful to hear from you! I am heading over to your blog now to see if I have missed anything. I hope all is well with you and wish you Happy Holidays and a Healthy & Happy New Year! დ
Those colors are magnificent. I lived in Sonoma County for one year and don’t remember it being that glorious. Thank you for sharing the beauty with us.
Southern California looks like this. Northern California mountains are the fourth snowiest in the US. All of the snowiest places in the US are on the west coast. Tamarack in Northern California holds the record for the greatest single snowfall ever recorded on earth, 884 inches, according to wikipedia. It’s because warm moisture laden Pacific storms stall on west coast mountain ranges. Happy Holidays Alexander!🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
I see. Yes, looking at the map, I can realize, California has several climate zones, which are so much different from each other.
As I understand, you live in Southern California among birds, flowers and vineyards.
Happy Holidays!🙂🎄
We have a ew small wineries here in Western Mass but I don’t recall any of the rows of bushes being this colorful. How nice that they give not only fine wine but a lovely autumn display as well.
Thank you very much Steve. Wine grape growing is complicated. I know nothing about it. Maybe, or maybe not, your grape leaves fall faster due to how hard and fast your winter falls. დ
Wow the fall colors are glorious, so bright and pretty.
I admire who-ever and how-ever they keep those vineyards so tidy and weed free. That has to be just years of experience and knowing what to safely use to fight weeds.
Your last photo should be in a frame displayed on a wall.
Always a pleasure to see your photographs, Cindy. Such glorious shades of Autumn colours.
Have a joyous festive season and a happy New Year. Peace and Love. Cheers! Joy xx
I am so sorry. I just found your comment in spam, hence my tardy reply. I hope you had a Joyous Christmas and Wish You Happiness & Health to you in The New Year! ⌚🔢🕛🎊
Vineyards are so calming to look at! The work to keep them growing and thriving must be hard, but they are wonderful to admire for the view and wines. Thank you for sharing your captures!
Beautiful photos! One house we lived in at Windsor, had a vineyard on one side, a prune orchard on another, and my dad used to ride his horse from the back side to the horse ranch he worked on. Another group of pictures that bring back memories. Thanks for sharing

Lovely. We never think of the wine country in fall.
I didn’t either! I was surprised დ
Agreed, and absolute delight! I had no idea that vineyards sported so many magnificent shades of red and yellow!
I was also surprised, especially with all the variation in hue. Thanks so much! I am happy you enjoyed დ
Beautiful photos, Cindy. I see that the trees and grapes are getting water, but the grass looks so dry. Every time I’ve driven through California, it seems to be dry, dry, dry. Just imagine how it would be if it had the rainfall Hawaii gets.
Yes. Poor Cali. The drought is terrible. დ
Amazing and soothing as usual Cindy!
Merci beaucoup mon Ami Chris! დ
I’ve been to the vineyards outside of Sonoma. Beautiful, as are your photos.
My daughter lived in Sonoma so I know how lovely they are. Thank you David & cheers to you დ

So happy you enjoyed Darlene & cheers my friend დ
Such a beautiful landscape despite the drought!
Yes. Poor Cali, she is a beauty and she is parched დ
I hope the California grape crops were large and successful this year.
I hope so too. We just got a large dump of rain and snow which helps, but we are still in a catastrophic ongoing drought დ
Beautiful colours 💚
I was surprised by the variance in hue. Happy you enjoyed Cathy & cheers! დ
Fantastic, Cindy! You’ve captured the autumn vineyards beautifully. A favorite time.🤗🍁

So gorgeous, they rival the hues of the Northeast!
The Northeas in the fall is ethereal. Cali is more muted, but still has a beauty all it’s own. Happy you enjoyed Eliza 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
I’ve never seen photos of a vinyard in fall. It’s beautiful!
Happy you enjoyed Liz. I was suprised to see this here. I have seen these colors in Europe in the fall. Happy Hols my friend 🔔🎉🎅🎁🎄
Happy Holidays to you as well, Cindy!
Danke & frohe Weihnachten!დ

Did you take these a while ago, Cindy, or is wine country that far behind Central Illinois in its seasons?!! Such stunning beauty there.
We are far behind Illinois where my family originated from. These were taken at the end of November. At The Holler our trees down by the creek turned at the same time. Quite beautiful. Such beautiful colors. Whenever I’m in Germany in autumn, I also admire the fall foliage in the vineyards.
Yes! So do I. I did several posts on the gorgeous fall colors in Germany and Austria. Here is one: https://cindyknoke.com/2015/11/17/schone-deutschland/
We actually have a few vinards here. Maybe we’ll have to look into some local tours?

…Right now some mulled cider or wine might be good it is just about 13 F and that isn’t including the wind factor!
Wow. Stay safe & warm.
Got up into the 50’s this afternoon… but they will drop. …it is winter in the north.
