I am photographing him now in the sunlight. If I post more of him it will be in honor of The Ukraine and the bloggers who pointed this out to me. Thank you Resa .
I am taking more photos of him now in bright sunlight and he is iridescent. If I post more I will post in honor of The Ukraine. Thank you for seeing this.
Oh my goodness! Have you reported it to eBird? Every time we’ve reported a vagrant, we’ve had hoards of people come to our property…so maybe you don’t want to report it. 😉 We have Indigo Buntings but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Lazuli Bunting. What a beauty! 💙🧡💛
I’ve never seen the Indigo, except in photographs. I didn’t know about reporting to ebird, but I will pass. Hordes of people will scare away the birds!!!
He is gorgeous, and his blue head just shimmers! How wonderful that this little guy is now a local at the Holler feeders! I’ve been reading lately about how blues are created in nature, and it’s fascinating! The book is called Blue, In Search of Nature’s Rarest Color by Kai Kupferschmidt. May you have a blessed Easter, Cindy.
As I was looking at the lovely Lazuli Bunting photos, a twist on the old “Over the Rainbow” quote came to mind… “Somewhere over the rainbow, birds are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” 🙂
Happy Easter Cindy, and I have this funny feeling that if you search all around The Holler you’ll probably find the remains of the ‘Ark’. Every bird variety known must reside there…or is it the deluxe meals at the feeder? 🤣 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
I think it is the combo effect, of The Holler spa with fresh water bathing daily, grape jelly (even the birds that aren’t supposed to like it, love it) and then of course, the steadily available gourmet seed blend, along with fresh oranges, and daily nectar. These birds know well (and others follow them) that there is such thing as a free lunch, dinner and breakfast.
He is here consistently now. He is smaller than all the other birds excepting the hummingbirds. I haven’t heard him sing yet because all the other birds drown him out. I suspect I will soon and I am pretty sure his mate is here too, and probably soon the parents will be with the babies at the feeder! Can’t wait.
Always fun when someone new shows up. While our trees are starting to leave, we’ve had some chilly days. Most of the daffs and hyachiths are spent… I still have a few hyachiths that I took in for my holiday table!!
I recall a certain crow (a squirrel as well), back when I had a house and garden, that would pick out the cashews first, every morning. I loved watching them.
Thanks, ♥
Yes, I have lots of feeders for different species, tons of flowering plants, and a bird spa! Identifying birds is half the fun. I love when a new species arrive. I research the ones I don’t know დ
He’s a beauteous fellow indeed!
His blues make me happy!
I can see why!
Such lovely colours. Thank you for sharing.
You are most welcome & I am happy you enjoyed.
Gorgeous little thing!
The Lazuli Bunting is the colours of the Ukraine flag. He come to the Holler, because he knew you would post amazing pics! ❦
I am photographing him now in the sunlight. If I post more of him it will be in honor of The Ukraine and the bloggers who pointed this out to me. Thank you Resa .
❦❦
Love their colouring! They remind me of a landscape scene with blue sky on top and yellow grass on the bottom. Also the Ukrainian flag.
I am taking more photos of him now in bright sunlight and he is iridescent. If I post more I will post in honor of The Ukraine. Thank you for seeing this.
And how dapper he is!
He’s all dressed up and ready to fly!
Nice clips. Easter greetings and smiles.
Visa versa 2UX2! Happy Easter! 🥚🐇🐾🙏
I also never heard of a Lazuli Bunting but an impressive chap he is. And perfect spring colours. Happy Easter Cindy!!
Happy Easter Chris! 🥚🐇🐾🙏
What a fine new neighbour. Hope you keep him happy!
He is here for the third day, so, so far so good!
Excellent!
დდ
❤️
He’s such a little cutie, Cindy! ❤️🥰
He’s adorable, and now the sun’s shining and he is iridescent!
He’s a pretty one. Looks kind of sassy as well.
He’s a tad shrimpy, but who cares when he’s that good lookin’! 😉
He is a beauty, and you capture that beauty well, beautiful image! I love all the colors he has.
Thank you John. He’s a looker that is for sure! He’s here right now, so hopefully he likes it here.
So pretty! Does he have a lady friend? I do hope they are busy making more.
I hope they are too! The females look a lot like house finches, so he probably does. We have so many house finches, but the buntings are much smaller.
That’s the downside to reporting to eBird…but the upside is that the data collected is of great help to scientists tracking these things. 🙂
I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know.
He’s gorgeous Cindy this new kid on the block.
Right in time for Easter!
💖👏👏👏
Happy Easter Cindy! 🥚🐇🐾🙏
Happy Easter Cindy! The Lazuli bunting is a beauty. 🐦👍

He’s here right now! I think he’s going to stick around.
I would LOVE to have a variety of beautiful birds like this hanging around my place. Enjoy!
It is a pretty awesome place to live for a person who loves birds as much as I do.
Just keep that camera working so you can share with us! 😉

As I was looking at the lovely Lazuli Bunting photos, a twist on the old “Over the Rainbow” quote came to mind… “Somewhere over the rainbow, birds are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” 🙂

I am beginning to suspect he flew in for just this purpose. Gives me goosebumps.
What a beautiful bird! Thank you for sharing with us. 💛
Thank you more for appreciating him Michele.
What beautiful birds!
Yes. Thank you.
He is gorgeous. We are still waiting for ours to show up.
You have plural Lazuli’s, and they show up regularly? How exciting!
Yes, we do, as they breed in our county. They should be arriving in the coming weeks. 🙂
Sounds heavenly.
A beautiful bird and It has a nice song as well!
I saw the video. There are so many song bird species here. It is hard to hear just one, but I will listen for it.
A truly beautiful lifer Cindy to have turn up at your feeder, what a blessing my friend 🙂
Yes. I am thrilled. He is tiny compared to the finches, but he is here everyday now, and holds his own effortlessly. I am sure his mate is too.
he is lovely I was just going to ask if you had heard his song.. when I saw Tofinio posted a video.
waves.. sends love.

Camouflage is for sissies!!
This little guy has the courage to flaunt his colors!!
I like the painting scheme, the shade of blue for just the face and slightly down to the chest. That is really cute!
He is quite the looker!
Reblogged this on GrannyMoon's Morning Feast.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness & cheers to you!
I chime in with the blue bird and tweet Happy Easter, Cindy!

I confess to having the best possible neighbors!! 😉
He is beautiful! His colorful feathers shimmer, and his upper and lower beak are opposite colors. Happy Easter, Cindy!
Yes. You would be good at identifying birds. You pick up the details. დ
I love birds. 🙂 I have told so many people about you finding a cardinal, which is common here.

What a beautiful bird and how nice to have a new local, Cindy. Hope you had a beautiful Easter!
Thank you Terri. We had a wonderful Easter with the twin grandsons and an epic Easter egg hunt. Have a wonderful week and take good care დ
Always fun when someone new shows up. While our trees are starting to leave, we’ve had some chilly days. Most of the daffs and hyachiths are spent… I still have a few hyachiths that I took in for my holiday table!!
Hope your holiday’s were joyous!!
It was a wonderful, thanks Jules. Hyacinths are such lovely flowers. I bet your table looked lovely დ
I only needed a few hyacinths – their sent can be heady 🙂
Yes indeed.
What a beautiful bird! Spring colors, Easter colors, and Ukraine colors! Hope you had a Happy Easter!
If I post more photos of him, I will definitely mention he is flying the colors of Ukraine! Thank you for seeing this Dawn დ
I love your new visitor – new to me!
And to me. He is now on the feeder everyday with the missus! დ
I do love the blue and yellow!
Striking isn’t it დ
Love the colors !:)
I do too. Thank you დ
Ah! such a beautiful bird. Love these images, especially the 4th image.
I am so happy you like the birdie Damyanti and thank you very much! დ
I have never seen a Lazuli Bunting as it seems to live only in the West. Beautiful shots!
Thank you very much. I had never seen one either. But now he and the missus are happily here everyday დ
Were those cashew nuts you were giving that gorgeous bird? Bootiful! 💙
It is a mixed nut assortment befitting the discerning birdie palate. Sunflower seeds, cracked corn, and millet!! 😉
I recall a certain crow (a squirrel as well), back when I had a house and garden, that would pick out the cashews first, every morning. I loved watching them.
Thanks, ♥
Cashews are my personally favorite nut. I don’t have them on offer for the birds, because I know I would eat them first. Love to you დ
Ah, well, fair enough, Cindy. Understood. 💙
დდ
The colors are beautiful.
He is a strikingly beautiful little surprise დ
Love this image Cindy. He is so photogenic. 😍
Happy you like him. He is quite the beauty დ
Simply stunning. (That blue a favorite shade of mine!!!)
Isn’t he a gorgeous creature. Quite petite too, but he holds his own with the bigger birds დ
The world would just not be so good without birds and puppies in it.
Agreed დდ
How do you “get” such incredible birds? Do you have a feeder? (And then how do you identify them?)
Yes, I have lots of feeders for different species, tons of flowering plants, and a bird spa! Identifying birds is half the fun. I love when a new species arrive. I research the ones I don’t know დ
A bird spa now? 😀 Good idea.
We’re gonna need to hope to Amazon. I love the idea. Thanks Cindy. 🙏🏻
Lucky you! I’ve never seen one of these guys up close, I didn’t even know we had them in our area!
Neither did I. Until he raised his beautiful blue head! დ
Lovely catching up with your beautiful photographs, I hope that you had a lovely Easter holiday. Sorry I’m late.
Lovely to hear from you at anytime Charlotte. I know how busy and full your life is, so thank you for taking the time დ
