Herbert at The Holler~

Herbert the cat,

is quite content in quarantine.

He watches the Holler burst in bloom! Rock Roses show off.

Bearded Iris,

and Matijila Poppies,

reach for the sky.

Cactus flowers are everywhere,

while Mexican Evening Primrose blanket the slopes.

Southern California Wild Grape vines are producing bumper crops.

Cheers to you from The Blooming Holler~

  1. Cindy,
I am a cat person and a flower person. I was thinking about having a late lunch
when I came to this post, but having found it and savored it, I feel as if I have
just had a sumptuous meal. O! what contentment! Thank you!! Sarah

  2. A lovely quarantine indeed. It’s a bit of a conundrum to call anything a lovely quarantine I know – but when your eyes, heart and spirit see all that yours does while in the midst of it, the outcome of it to my eyes, heart and spirit seems lovely. 💖

P.S. The flowers are absolutely stunning, they left me in aw … and Herbert is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve got 2 (cats not flowers hehe) that look exactly like him though with differently coloring – and of course my dog Jozie, who’s large and looks nothing like them 😋).

  3. Timothy Price

Fantastic portraits of Herbert. Your copper iris is beautiful also. Lots of pretty desert flowers.

      1. Hey Cindy, Might be safe in here….but not so much when outside. Got hit by a car while biking on Monday. No broken bones that God! Mostly cuts and scrapes and muscle trauma. Wrote about it in my last 2 blogs.

  4. Whe earth has awakened – spring has come and summer will soon be here. It is a great comfort to know that the world continues to breath and to bring beauty of our lives, even though humanity has entered into solitude. May we use this time to reflect upon our connection to earth, to the creatures who walk, fly, run with us. Hugs coming your way.

  6. Okay Cindy!

    Great shots…
However, you must pet, kiss, hug, stroke, feed, kiss again, hug more and tell Herbert he is the most gorgeous living creature on earth! (That would be from aunty Resa. He won’t know it …but I will)
No cats are watching as I type this.
    Could you imagine the envy?

    1. Herbert truly believes in his own superiority and is utterly disinterested in any alternate opinions, so he heartily agrees with your good judgement. In other words, Herbert is a totally typical wonderful cattius! Hugs to Aunty Resa from Herbert and his human დ

  7. The ‘life’ of Herbert should be our destination Cindy. Laid back, serene, at peace with the world (well, until dinnertime anyway). And all those lovely naps to celebrate it all 😀
    Great pictures dear lady, a pleasure to view 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

    1. Exactly. Herbert (and the wombat) are my inspirations. According to both of them, there are few things a nap won’t improve! 😉 Thank you Mark and stay well my friend დ

    1. Yes, especially now. After years of drought, we had this late season deluge that didn’t stop. All of the plants are so happy. Around 8-10 years ago, I planted those copper iris bulbs. They never grew. I assumed they died underground. Then, lo and behold, they bloomed this year, reminding me, that hope is patient and grows. Stay well Eliza დ

    1. Yes he is. So surprised and pleased you remember! Thank you. We adopted him as a kitten from a feral cat rescue organization. He grew up behind a dumpster in Los Angeles with his feral mama. დ

  8. Herbert is gorgeous! I’ve been wondering how he’s doing; really well, judging by his photos. And the flowers are lovely. Some of them are native to your region, I’m guessing.

    1. I love that you remember and wondered about Herbert. Thank you for caring. He is, like all cats, simply amazing, and he is a super important member of our family. He knows it too, which is best of all დ

  9. Nature seems exceptionally lovely this year, doesn’t it, Cindy? Perhaps that’s because we’ve been forced to SLOW down and that way, we can enjoy it more!

    1. Yes it does and I think you are right. I wonder how many people have now realized how content they can be when left to their own devices. I wonder how many will want to keep working remotely.

  10. You’re a beautiful boy, Herbert and the flowers in your garden are marvellous😸Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday to you all. Stay Safe Healthy and Yourselfie🙏🐾😽💞

  11. Herbert is so handsome! I’m glad he doesn’t mind being indoors. It’s cold up here and very wet. Watching rain is a favorite pastime. All the flowers look quite happy. Keep staying well. Hugs.

  12. Herbert reminds me of our Matti, a tricolor tabby. The shelter where we got her had named her Cinnamon. She is old and gentle, and limps on an arthritic front leg – so she fits right in here with us! Your blooms are terrific; I always marvel at what cacti can produce! Blessings to you and yours in these strange days.

    1. Ahhh, so wonderful to hear from you Peter. I have been thinking about you and Marion. Your kitty sounds kind, just like her family! I hope you are still enjoying your sojourns at the beach. Stay safe the three of you and cheers to all of you too. Blessings დ

  13. I absolutely Love this! You bring so much beauty to our world with your blogs and photos and writing in them. Thank you! I am catching up on reading some of the blogs of my friends and fellow followers. hugs and have a great day!

  14. That’s a very handsome cat, Herbert. I like how the fur around his face looks like a little mane that makes him look like a mini lion :-). The petals of the flowers here especially the poppies look very delicate and beautiful. Cheers to you, Cindy!

  15. Shhh! I haven’t told the two divas that they are in quarantine. They would hardly realize the difference as they are indoor femmes.
Cindy, your photos are always so gorgeous. It makes me think what you would produce here from September to April when the flamingos take over… xxx

    1. DON’t Even Tell me this! I already know how much I want to photograph them! Maybe someday I will. Who knows. You can take me to them. Love to you Lea დ

      1. Every time I see them, I think of you and your photos. WOW! I won’t say another word about it… Love you Cindy. ❤

While you are at it, perhaps you might catch a few seagulls in your scope? If I have a favorite bird, it must be them as they won’t lie to me. I know when I see or hear them that the ocean isn’t far away.

  16. Herbert is gorgeous! The flowers are so colorful. When we were in Arizona, the flowers in the desert were in bloom and it was stunning. Of all the times we were there, we only saw the desert in bloom once.

    1. Yes. Seeing the desert in bloom varies from year to year, but it is always hope in adversity, growing, hence magnificent. But sometimes, it is mind boggling. This is best year I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot. The copious rains wake the flowers. They are still awake now which is unusual. დ

  17. Hebert is a true beauty, and that white mark on his nose is the finishing touch! Love the brown tabby markings — I have seven brown tabbies among my crew and aside from being adorable they have quite distinct personalities, as do the orange tabbles. And you are surrounded by such glorious, colorful flowers! As always, thanks for sharing this inspiring beauty with your wonderful photography. All the best, Susan

    1. Awwww, what a amazing comment! Thank you. Of course you have seven brown tabbies! Herbert’s personality is often so over the top, he fits in perfectly with us! And orange tabbies too? Are they a bit more laid back. Herbert is the most awesome cat. But, then, so are all of yours. Love to you and them დ
