  1. Aren’t they fabulous! Did you by any chance go to Port Douglas? The lorikeets gather to roost in a line of trees on a boulevard down the middle of the Main Street. Go there at dusk – there are thousands of them and the noise is deafening. So cool!

    1. Yes. They are FABULOUS! And no, I didn’t got to Main Street. Of course now I want to, a lot. I would never have left Oz, if it weren’t weren’t for my children at home. Oz’s birds and I understand each other. Love to you Alison. ღ

  3. Oh Cindy, I do adore our Colourful Lorikeet’s. they are frequent flyers in my Geelong area, they always bring me smile…..xx 🦜🦜🧡💛💚💙🌏🌏

  4. These are such remarkable birds, Cindy! Your third photo brings out a very interesting trait about the parrot line of birds. At first, it looks as if the lorikeet has lost a toe on each foot, as we are used to see three forward-facing toes and one facing backward. But parrots and their kin have two forward- and two backward-facing toes; this is called a zygodactyl arrangement, and it is especially beneficial to them with all their perching needs and for using their feet to manipulate seeds and other food and, of course, to play with objects that amuse them. High four?!

  5. Don´t they just brighten your day!! We have parakeets here and I love the splash of green they display as they fly past and land in a tree in front of us.

  6. We are so lucky to have mum, dad and 2 teenage lorikeets join us for breakfast every morning. Jack makes them a saucer of honey and warm water and it is lovely to watch their little knobbly tongues make short work of the offering. Then the 2 youngsters harass mum and dad with their squeaky demands for feeding till finally the 2 adults regurgitate their meal into the babies mouth. Fascinating to watch. Hope all is well at the Hollow Cindy

    1. Birdie parents are so selfless and hard working and they have such demanding children!! 😉 I so envy you and Jack and your birdie friends. Stay safe and well Pauline ❧

I adore lorikeets. At the dog park today, a flock of them were squabbling with noisy mynas, who in turn were chased by doves.

    1. I miss you, but it is wonderful to hear from you when you do stop by. This happens to me too, a lot and it is very frustrating, so I understand. Stay safe and well Eunice ❧

    1. I tend to focus on individual birds, but one of the most truly amazing sights in Australia, which happens so often, are huge flocks of these amazingly colored and very vocal parrots and cockatoos flying by. It thrills me every time I experience it. Take good care & thank you Emma ❧

  8. Thank you for showing us hope through these amazing flying rainbows. Sending you bear hugs this lovely Sunday! ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ Stay safe, happy & healthy, my friend.

  9. What beauties!! They look like sparkling gemstones of a precious nature. Thank you, Cindy, for sharing them here — seeing one would be a delight, but seeing a whole bunch of them? Heavenly!!

  10. We live in colour. I celebrate our world and all the wonderful creatures. And I celebrate the friendships and conversations that I find on your blog! Have a wonderful day, my dear friend.

    1. I think it is a Grevillea Charlotte (There are many types and grow as bushes or trees). The birds are a nectar, pollen eater and love the similar Bottlebrush plants as well 😀

      1. And you my dear friend. I know you are safe where you are and ready to “shoot” and we all benefit from your gorgeous photos. (heart)

  11. Wow their colours are so vibrant. Truly beautiful birds, and as usual your wonderful photography captures the details so stunningly, Cindy! As always, thanks for sharing it with us.

    1. Since birds lift me up everyday, I am so happy, that in photos, they bring you the same lightness to you. Photos are the only way I will capture a wild bird. I am so glad they bring you joy. Thank you for telling me ♡

    1. Si! Gracias. Te amo en el Perú más hermoso y sorprendente. Independientemente de lo que ocurra, todos somos hijos de la naturaleza. Amor y seguridad para ti. დ

    1. Aww, thank you so much Jennie. I have to tell you, because you will understand, our 18 month old twin grandsons, my first, are moving, close to The Holler, and buying a house in the midst of all this covid19 chaos. I will be their babysitter. This means of course that family is close, and my 63 year old self will ramp up how much I have loved every second of my life when I hung out with children.
Oh, the nearby places we will go!I am a bit older though. I might get tired.დ
      Love to you Jenny დ

      1. That is great news! They will be getting what matters most, a loving grandmother, and a big dose of nature and the great outdoors. Please read aloud to them!! If you have on hand, “Goodnight Moon”, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, and “Brown Bear Brown Bear” that will be perfect. Yes, you will get tired, but it will be a happy tired. I’m here for you when you need recommendations, even a play doh recipe. When will they be moving?

    1. Thank you Sally. I hope the same for you and yours. My daughter and son in law, and the two baby boy twins are moving closer. They are buying a house near The Holler. It seems so odd, stay at home, or move closer? We’re moving closer, even though doing this, at this time, is challenging logistic wise. Love to you and your family Sally. Stay safe, all of you დ
