Bluebirds of Happiness~

Western Bluebirds live at The Holler, but basically never visit The Holler Spa.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was when these beauties showed up in force!

I am convinced they came,

as bluebirds of happiness,

to wish you a very Merry Christmas and even Happier New Year!

To you and yours this season,

and into the New Year,

Cheers from The Holler~

  1. What a treat to see these lovely bluebirds of happiness just after you posted them! Almost never happens for me to see a post right away, must be a happy sign! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Cindy! And the happiest of New Years!

    1. Ahhh. Thank you very much Peter. May the Blessings of Christmas comfort you and you beautiful family. And may these Blessings comfort you all throughout the New Year. With love and friendship, and looking forward to sharing 2019 with you.

  2. Okay…. now you have Bluebirds!
Again, here in the city, we have sparrows, grackles, pigeons, (some ducks, sea gulls, Canada Geese and swans if you live by the lake).
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

    1. Oh I would love this! how wonderful! Cornell estimates there are about 22 million Eastern Bluebirds, and about 6.7 million Western Bluebirds. Seeing them out west close enough to photograph is a rarity for me.

  3. I have never seen bluebirds in a bird bath, Cindy, how very fortunate that you were there to welcome them. Terrific photos (love the penultimate one especially) and a sweet message. My very best wishes to you for a holiday filled with peace and happiness.

  4. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, including those with fur and with feathers. 😁🎄 I always love looking at your photos. Thank you for sharing them.

  5. I have these beauties though the Eastern variety and like you they are here but seldom venture into my space. They came for that clean water you have out and to make your day. Mine come to devour beef suet from the butcher on miserable days of cold and snow. 🙂 Merry Christmas

  6. They are so lovely!… 😀 As I hadn’t heard of them except here and there in a song, had a talk with Google. It turns out they do not live in Europe at all… except maybe in someone’s home in a cage to brag with? Ough! Hate THAT idea!…

    1. Even here they are disproportionately distributed. There are about 22 million Eastern Bluebirds, and about 6.7 million Western Bluebirds. They are different birds, and they are faring differently geographically, which is why it is wonderful they decided to come visit us for the holidays!

      1. You can still count in millions! 🙂
Europe is so full of people, roads, highways and buildings that a lot of birds disappear by and by… Even in my little jungle I start seeing the difference… and keep hoping they will come back…

    1. Merriest Christmas to you Marlene, and the Best of the Best of the New Year is my wish for you! I look forward to sharing 2019 with you.
I am up spending Christmas with the newborn twin boys, 2 1/2 months old now!
Peace and safety for all <3 <3 🤶

      1. Thank you for your Christmas wishes, Cindy and right back to you. Christmas with new twins is what the season is all about. How exciting for you. Hope you take pictures for us. Hugs and love. M

  7. I’ve never seen a real one of these birdies, only pictures on a calendar, and they’re amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us. Yes, I imagine they did show up just to wish all a happy holiday season!

  8. They are very beautiful birds….used to see them all the time in Virginia.
Haven’t seen any of them in Texas yet. Maybe there are none here, I don’t know.
Wishing you the best in 2019 Cindy!

  9. Spreading cheer and good will to all with their presence I’m sure. Hope you have a wonderful, happy new year. God’s blessings on you and yours, Cindy.

  10. The birds are lovely but your photography is amazing! I am truly moved by your images, your compositions, your angles and the point of capture of wildlife that you have is absolutely genius! Great work! Thank you for sharing such beauty!

  11. Absolutely beautiful! I see these at my local park this time of year. Looks like you are into birds; my husband and I love to bird-watch whenever we can. East Africa is one of our favorite places to watch hundreds of birds 🙂

Hi Cindy, I enjoy your photographs! I came across some of your bluebird photos from 2018 when I was looking for photo references and was wondering if you’d mind if I used one to paint a small painting. I’d love to give you credit for the photo. Would that be alright with you?

    1. I would be honored and would love to see your painting. I think you may be referring to Western Bluebirds. Lots of them live here, but they are the shyest birds I have ever managed to capture. Where I live they have so much space and they are magical elusive birds. The time they settled on the water was epic for me, and maybe them. Please, paint them and thank you დდ

Thanks so much, Cindy. We have the western bluebirds here in Silver City, New Mexico too.
I love to see them at the birdbath, too. Not sure how to include a photo to you on this blog but I will share my results with you.
