The Cooks are for Critters~

Chicks on chairs.

Goats in gardens.

Cows in clover.

Terns in trees.

And,

in the air.

Mynas at your feet,

and at your door.

Girl on the sea,

son down deep.
The Cooks are for critters like you and me.
Cheers to you from the critterful Cooks~

      1. Thank you, Cindy! It was a travel experience that I’ll always remember. So glad to know you have enjoyed the series. 🙂

    1. Let’s meet up in paradise. I’ve never done it either, but I think it looks super easy…… If it isn’t, screw it. We’re in paradise. Who cares! <3 😉

    1. They were so completely charming. They lived in people’s yards. Not only are there no traffic lights in The Cooks, there is no commercial animals being grown for profit operation. The Cooks have always just been a different world. And considering our world, this seems to be a very good thing.

    1. Ahhh, thank you. Maybe heaven will be like this: Very helpful people. Wonderful animals. Limited civilization. People live as they have forever in The Cooks, and still rely on the land and sea. Maybe we were all basically sold into some degree of servitude to some other interests, when our ability to live independently, off the place we were planted, was taken from us. Can you imagine the Cook Islanders have resisted this, essentially forever? Now their biggest accomodation is hosting tourists like me, and I think they put me to shame.

  1. My favorite, the goat in the garden. Personality plus. Then there were the two terns showing affection. Chickens on the chairs meant I would be looking carefully before sitting down. 🙂 And I thought “loud” when I saw the myna bird— if my memory serves me correctly. Fun photos and comments as always, Cindy! –Curt

    1. Oh yeah! Lots of mynas in a tree means you will sleep only when they do, and chickens on chairs, well you have that figured that out…….. Safe trails Curt~

          1. Ah, the southern desert part of the trail. I’ll be missing that, Cindy. Pleny of dry, hot country I have to cross in the southern Cascades. 🙂 Thanks! Exciting yes. Will see if my body agrees. No question where the mind is… but also a tad nervous. (grin) –Curt

  2. Love your photos, Cindy. They always express your love for photography and nature. The terns in the tree is a real stand-out shot. Looks like you’ve captured an intimate moment. <3

    1. Thank you for noticing the fariry terns! They are a vulnerable species, so rare for me to see. I find them to be so delicate and lovely and am pleased you agree <3

  3. Fun post!
The myna here reminded me of two myna birds I met a long time ago. I have never metbeen such talkative birds. They repeated words and sounds they heard, they’d alert the homeowner of people coming to the house, they call familiar names. What fun birds to be with.

  4. Cindy, these are great!!! I want to cuddle them all (not the humans)!!! I keep seeing your little gravatar on blogs I stumble upon, you get around supporting others : ) For some reason, your recent posts aren’t showing up on my feed. When I saw your head in a “like” today it reminded me how beautiful your photos are. I had to click on your name in my “follows” to see your site. It was well worth it!

    1. Ahhh, what a lovely comment. Thank you Dawn. I have the same problem. Some blogs I follow do not show up in my reader, so I miss people’s posts which is frustrating. Thank you for making the effort & cheers to you!
