Are underrated. (Click and enlarge to see the tiny details).
Like this Holler bathing birdie,
a California Towhee, who isn’t much impressed with the paparazzi, smart birdie!
This yellow house finch has a deformed beak and foot, but is doing well on Holler handouts.
Male yellow house finches are less successful with the ladies than their ruby colored cousins, but I think the ladies lack vision.
Mocking Birds may be common,
but they are oh so smart, and very handsome.
House finches are everywhere,
but are really quite adorable!
Cheers to you from The Holler common folk~
Many beautiful colors and tails on those birds.
So pleased you enjoyed them! They are having their morning bath right now as I type.
They’re lovely little avian friends. I love the contrast of colors with them in the bowl. So cute.
The most humble creatures have their own beauty. It’ up to us to see it. So glad you do my friend 💛
Love your blue and white bird food bowl. It is evident you love your wildlife❤️
Only the best for the birdies! Happy Friday Nadia 💛

Cindy Knoke brings us more birds from The Holler.
You are a lovely friend. Happy Easter Patricia 💛
You don’t have to trek to distant lands to see beautiful wildlife!
Exactly! They are in your own backyard.
A beautiful selection of birds.
So pleased you enjoyed & thank you!
You have a veritable bird paradise around your house. I can see how your feathery friends enjoy dropping in for a free lunch, Cindy! Nice shots!
Free lunch, free spa, no rent housing. It’s good to be a bird!
These bird photographs are really amazing.
Awwww, thank you & Happy Friday!
Thank you for sharing with us your many feathered friends. They are all fine.
You are most welcome and they are indeed our fine feathered friends 💛
Absolutely wonderful photos and words 💜💜
Merci beaucoup mon ami! 💛
I love all of them!!
I love the people who love the birdies 💛
So cute! And you captured them beautifully!
Very happy you enjoyed them & thank you!
Topp Bilder, KLasse, auch für dich ein schönes Osterfest, Klaus
Vielen dank mein lieber Freund und Frohe Osterfest 💛
These are very pretty birds. Thank you for sharing, Cindy. 🙂
Thank you dear Ranu & have a wonderful weekend 💛
Such lovely, bright-eyed, inquisitive looking birds, Cindy. Hugs on the wing!
Aren’t they sweet! And they people watch as much as I birdwatch 💛
Excellent gathering of the aviaries … and you captured them well by bringing their simple nature to life.
Thanks my friend. They are great fun to photograph and they love to pose!!!
Love them! Thank you so much for this inspiring photos and I wish you a happy Easter Time. <3
Happy Easter Vera & thank you for the kind words 💛
Wonderful! Happy Easter Cindy.
Happy Easter to you my friend 🐰
These are so crisp and clear! Great pictures!
I am honored. Thank you & cheers too 🐰
So Cute!!! Wonderful shots!!!
So kind of you and much appreciated too! 🐰
All magnificent. Personally, I can’t stop photographing the little sparrows – common, maybe, but precious all the same.
Exactly! 🐰
Thank you very much, dear Cindy, for your lovely post about yellow house finch. Have a happy Easter holiday. Best regards Martina
Happy Easter Martina & thank you for such a lovely comment! 🐰
I know exactly what you mean with this Cindy – it is all too easy when birdwatching to think ‘oh it’s only a robin, a chaffinch etc etc’. All creatures (including humans!) are magical and wonderful. It does us good to celebrate those who travel under the radar. Cheers to you & wishing you a great weekend 🙂
Exactly my thoughts about all creatures, including humans. After all think of everyday human heroes, and compare them to the people who get the most coverage in the news. I know who I would rather be around! 🐰
You have a nice array of birds in your neighbourhood Cindy. Happy Easter.
Leslie
Happy Easter Leslie & thanks for stopping by 🐰
🙂
Great pix, Cindy. You seem to have lots of bird visitors! I didn’t know there was a yellow house finch variation.
Our region has more bird species than anywhere else in the continental US. It makes for good species identification practice! 🐰
Lovely photos you take! ❤️
Thank you so much & happy weekend to you!
Those red finches are killer gorgeous. Luv all the birds! Happy Easter weekend, Cindy!
Happy Easter Resa & hugs my friend 🐰
Your photos are always so beautiful. It’s a treat to see your blog posts each time.
Awww, that is so kind and makes my <3 smile. Thank you & cheers too!
Wonderful photos, Cindy. I love your birds. We have bossy stellar jays who kick everyone else out of the bird feeders and baths. 🙂 And bossy little hummingbirds who rule the roost!
Ditto with the hummers but our jays are very shy. They won’t even aggress over a bowl of peanuts!
We can’t all be extraordinary, Cindy, but we can try. I wouldn’t mind a bit of plumage like that. 🙂 🙂 Happy Easter to you!
Even the most common creature is extraordinary in their unique ways. Happy Easter Jo 🐰
Common folk are my kind of critters. So much beauty is overlooked when seeking the crème de la crème. Your gorgeous photography honors these lovely creatures, Cindy ❤
Yep. You are a person after my own <3 Tina. Often we pay too much attention to the flash and not the substance.
Birds of a feather, Cindy ❤️

Lets celebrate the common folk together Cindy! UP close, they are far from ordinary 💛
My thoughts exactly! Thank you Val & hugs to you 🐰
I love them all. 🙂 I hope the birdie with the problem beak and foot continues to do well.
If it is an injury he should be fine, but if it avian pox which it may be, his prognosis is more guarded. Thank you for caring Lynette <3
Magnificent imagery!
We often fail to see the great who walk amongst us…
We do, we are too dumbfounded (and I mean this literally) by people like the Kardashians…. Thank you by the way. I really appreciate your thoughtful comments.
How beautiful…each and every one. I hope the sweet bird with the deformed beak and foot is able to be happy and have a wonderful life.
Awww, I have sweet friends who care about suffering creatures. Hugs to you 🐰🐰
Magnificent imagery!
We often fail to see the great who walk amongst us…
Thank you Russel and I think so. We are too busy heaping our attention on vacuous celebrities.
Have you ever noticed that common folk are really extraordinary. Spectacular photos – as always, my dear friend.
Oh yes indeed I have noticed this. The strength of character that flows in those who don’t seek attention or glory. I have seen so, so many examples of this from my long career as a psychotherapist. The true heroes are usually unsung. Thank you for knowing this Rebecca , of course you would, this is who you are <3
Cindy, those shots of birds in the blue and white bowl are terrific! — amazing color contrasts.
See you —
Neil S.
Thank you for noticing! I am working on the blue jays in the blue bowls now, but they are not super cooperative models.
I’m common folk so I’m all in here. I didn’t realize there were birds with deformities that need help. They are all beautiful birds and so kind of you to provide the free rent, space and food. Love those baths. 🙂
All people are common, after all there are over 7 billion of us, so we are not exactly a rare or exotic species. Success, money and fame, don’t make someone uncommon, just overcompensated. You are more of a hero because you face adversity and thrive with your artistic soul intact. <3
Thank you, Cindy. That’s very kind.
It is the truth and you are welcome.
Wanting to hold & pamper them all!! Sigh…. they won’t let me, which leaves all the pampering for Murph – but I am thankful for that!
Murph is one lucky little lizard and it is so cool what you are doing with reptile awareness.
Thanks Cindy! That means a lot to me – long distance hug 🙂
<3
Beautiful photos Cindy. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you more for taking the time to make such a thoughtful comment.
Lovely post Cindy. I love birds. And I love your pictures
I love people who love birds so we’re even & thank you 🐰
Thank you and welcome!
<3
The birds may be common but your photos of them are extraordinary. They also make me smile.
Your comment makes me smile, so we both did good today!! <3
Yay!
<3
Thank you for the engaging graphic reminders that there is beauty all around us and most especially in the commonplace.
Thanks for seeing the bigger picture Dor & Happy Easter 🐰
These ‘birds of paradise’ photos get better each time, my friend. ♥♥♥♥♥♥~(‘▽^人)
Yes there are birds of paradise, and birds in all their different glory, live in abundance in every human’s space. Happy Easter sweet friend ♥♥♥♥♥♥~(‘▽^人)
Happy Easter to you too! ♡✧( ु•⌄• )
<3 <3
I guess you need to be very patient to capture birds pictures.
Beautiful collection.🙂
Either that or it doesn’t feel like patience at all, just pure fun. Cheers to you my friend <3
Cheers.🙂
Always a pleasure to enjoy your delightful close up pictures of our feathered friends Cindy.

Thanks! They are so darn cute when they take a bath. They splash up a storm!

You are a wonderful friend Brad. Happy Easter 🐇
Thank you Cindy. You too on both accounts!
<3
I enjoyed this celebration of the common birds, Cindy, for as you point out, they are not so common at all. Brilliant in their beauty.
Indeed! Each unique in their own way. 🐇
Loved your ode to these common birds, Cindy! They are indeed both beautiful and wise.
You are I <3 our feathered friends!
Cindy, Such pretty birds and beautiful photography as always!
You are very kind and most appreciated 🐇
Lovely birds and excellent
Thanks so much and very pleased you enjoyed 🐇
Lovely birdie folk! You should publish a book of all your beautiful photos.
Thank you & I would love to. That way I wouldn’t keep losing photos!!!
Cindy I have nominated you for all your inspiration and kindness..https://kerri-elizabeth.com/category/sunshine/#.Wr_Z_IWcGKl, you certainly do not have to do anything with this just know I appreciate you and love your joy and inspirations.
So incredibly kind & thoughtful! Sincere thank you Kerri. Congratulations on your award. It is most deserved and you deserve all the awards there are! <3
Such beautiful birds. I love how to capture the color and detail in the feathers.
They are amazing creatures aren’t they & Happy Easter to you 🐇
They certainly are. Happy Easter to you, Cindy. 🐣
<3
They may be “common,” but they’re so lovely! Thank you for capturing them in their holler habitat, Cindy.
You are a kindred spirit. Happy everything to you <3
Such beautiful pics of birds. They are living the good life in your garden.😃
They are, it is true, but I am living the better life, learning from watching them. Only the best to you Janell <3

Happy Easter/spring holidays to you!
Luiza
Fröhliche Ostern und bleib warm im schönen Berlin! 🐰
Vielen lieben Dank, Cindy! Heute war der erste sonnige Tag hier! 🙂
Yay! Es hat uns letztes Jahr am Ostersonntag in Baden Baden geschneit!
Hi, Cindy. I like that you gave “equal time” to the little folk who may seem ordinary. On closer inspection, they have their charms. I love the mockingbird.
Very happy you enjoyed the birdies and mocking birds are one of my favorites! 🐰
So beautiful and a sight to warm even Frostie the snowman’s heart. xxx
Thank you & warm spring greetings to you 🐰
And to you too, Cindy. xxx
<3
Paradise indeed! They are all so beautiful. The details are incredible, Cindy!

The common folk 🙂💗
Loved these images of a regular pleasing presence! Made me laugh, too
Your comment made me smile! Have a great week~
I have a delightful Texas friend who shares your passion for photographing birds, but I have to say no one has ever captured birds as beautifully as you do.
I am saluting your awesome ability all the way from South Carolina.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Awww, I am very touched by your thoughtful comment, humbled too, thank you very much & cheers to you Sheila <3
Great group of photos, beautiful done. When you want a bird photo you can always depend on house finch, if you want a bird fuss you can always depend on a Mockingbird! 😀
Birds are quite dependable aren’t they. Love this about them. Thank you & cheers to you John~
That little finch is so elegant! Such queenly details in those images
Love the first picture of the mockingbird whose shape mirroring the blue and white vessel. Nicely done!
So nice to see (and hear) birds after such a winter. Robins are still hanging out here waiting for the warm weather signal so they can move on. We rarely see them this time of year as they rapidly pass through on their way home – (everyone goes faster going the way back home HAHA)
I wish we had robins. They are such charming birds. Thank you for such observant and thoughtful comments my friend and be well!
Cool photos Cindy– so exquisitely detailed! Are these bird feeders in your yard?? I left the back door open for fresh air this week and a hummingbird flew into our family room. It was a trick getting out the window! (no pictures to show for it!) Love yours posts! xox
Yes, these are in the garden. We get birds flying in both garages all the time. They each have two sets of windows and the birds try desperately to fly out the windows. I have the window by my computer open with no screen for photos and I have had birds fly in before. It scares both of us about equally! 🐤🐤
Ha ha! I was scared of that tiny bird too. xo
Laughing…..I wasn’t scared of the bird, I was scared for the bird! 🐦 <3
Adorable birds! The robins are out here! One is so fat she can barely move.
Oh, I wish we had robins! Maybe she is going to lay lots of eggs! 🐤🐤🐤
I hope so!
<3 🐦🐦
Cindy, these are all so beautiful! I have always loved finches. We have a couple of different kinds here at the hatchery-I think house finches and gold finches. I haven’t put feeders out yet this year. I have never seen a holler, though. It’s eyes are gorgeous! 🙂
I only see goldfinches rarely! How lucky you are to see them regularly. 🐤🐤🐤
Really? Well, we do get a huge variety of birds here at the fish hatchery in Northern California. 🙂
I shall have to visit…..
That would be great! 🙂
Uncommonly beautiful, I’d say. And unimpressed with the likes of us. Good role models for attire, posture, and attitude. And how generously they bless you with their presence. (Jealous here, happy to confess)
What a very kind comment. Thank you very much. I do think wild birds are excellent role models. I have watched so many of them over the years, and learned much about how to live. Cheers to you & thank you!
Bonne journée on bonsoir
gros bisous

Bonjour ou Bonsoir mon Ami, Amie Bernard!
How adorable! It must be spring in your neck of the world with all these birds in your neighborhood.
It certainly is! All the male migrators have shown up, but they are waiting on the females who have yet to arrive.
These shots are gorgeous Cindy and especially beautiful when viewed full size. The first shot looks like a painting, almost sculpted. You’ve topped yourself with these.
Thank you Robert, and thanks especially for viewing them fuller sized. The small wordpress format cuts out so much of the details, which with birds are the most interesting aspects. Cheers to you my friend 🐦 <3
They are well worth loading. I recommend that everyone view them full sized.
You are a kind person my friend~ <3
🙂
Wonderful photos! Such nice colors!
Thank you & very pleased you enjoyed!
I love that blue and white bird feeder!
Thank you! It is Mexican Talavera Pottery in case you want to buy some for yourself.
Thanks for the tip.
<3
They are all very beautiful, Cindy, especially through your lens!
Awww, you touched my <3 ! Thank you~
The color of your birds made me smile 🙂 Very beautiful Cindy. <3
Smiles & cheers back to you!
🙂
And what is common to one person is extraordinary to another. Vive la difference! You surely elevated these guys to new heights! <3
Ah, lovely comment. We are all both common, and extraordinary! <3
I could stare at these pictures for ages on end. (I had to scroll down forever to get my two cents worth in. You are a popular lady, Cindy!)
The birdies make me look good! (: So pleased you enjoyed them!
