We keep going back to ‘The End of the World.’
This poppy was as big as a salad plate!
This was our third visit, but this time we were joined by our adult children for the holidays, which made it the best ever.
Ushuaia Argentina is the southern-most city in the world,
and can be accessed via the stunning Beagle Channel and Tierra del Fuego.
The city is surrounded by the towering glacier-rich Andes cordillera (spine), which was shrouded with clouds on this visit.
This part of the world is a wildlife and birders paradise and I will post some critters next.
Not too many people come here, but those who do are rewarded with vast tracks of open spaces and pristine nature everywhere.
So gorgeous! Thanks for the delightful journey!
I am so happy you travel with me! <3
Would not miss it! <3 🙂
🤗
💕🤗
Gorgeous!
It is hard to show how pristine this part of the world is. Thank God there are still places like this!
Love the colors in the pictures, and that one with the red airplane has great timing too. I always love the power of the color red in a photograph.
Thank you very much and yes, red pops out and pulls our eyes in.
Superb! Love your journey’s. Thanks so much for sharing them. 😀
Thank you so much more for coming along with me <3
What a beautiful place!
Thank you. It is incredible~
Absolutely fascinating.
Ahhh, I am honored. Thank you Jim!
Sounds like it was a wonderful trip. What a lovely place the “end of the world” is!
And right next door is Antarctica which is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Hugs to you Carrie and congrats on your new book. It sounds interesting and I will read it!
Thank you, Cindy. I truly appreciate your support. 😊
<3
Stunning Cindy & how wonderful you were able to spend time in this beautiful place with your family!
Thank you Lynn! We traveled extensively together and it was a wonderful experience.
Interesting to think about the similarities and differences between the lands near the two poles.
Yes! We were supposed to go to the northern pole in 2017, but a family health emergency compelled us to cancel. It is on the books for this year. Fingers crossed…..
Yes … And a toast to the boys of travel.
Three cheers!

Beautiful images, Cindy!
Thank you Indah & I am very happy you enjoyed them~
I wonder, after journeying to the end of the world so many times, have you ever considered going just a bit further south? Maybe even to Antarctica? Now THAT would be the trip of a lifetime.
Yes! We have been and I posted about it. It is the most mind boggling experience ever and it changed my life. I really got serious about photography AFTER going to Antarctica and I want to return & take photos. It is actually hard going to Ushuaia and not hopping over The Drake Passage into Antarctica. It is the most wildlife dense location on the planet and the animals are not scared of people! Visiting Antarctica was a spiritual experience for me.
Incredible! How were you able to visit Antarctica? Did you go there as part of a research team or something?
Ushuaia is the jumping off place to go to Antarctica and has ship tours leaving from there. We went for almost for almost a week and went far into the arctic circle.
How incredible! I’d love to visit Antartica sometime, maybe to document scientific work being done there.
I strongly recommend that you do so.
Then I will 😉
Cindy, I love the look at this End of the World – astonishing place and the colours are divine. The blue on the Andes is almost surreal. Astonishing photos and the innate peace of the place is captured beautifully.
I am so glad the feeling of quiet, silent, peace was able to translate in the photos. Thank you for telling me <3

Que hermoso y apropio! El ano nuevo mas feliz para ti, mi amigo, y muchas gracias! <3 <3
Gracias Cindy por ser un sol.

Stellar photos. I enjoyed my visit.
So pleased you did and thank you for taking the time to tell me!
My pleasure, Cindy. Peace.
<3 peace!
May music and poetry be with your days.
<3
How wonderful to visit this place with family members. The pictures are amazing and make me want to go there too. Can I be a part of your famly?
You already are! I love traveling with you Darlene <3
I can’t wait to see more photos from that area, Cindy. It looks both stark and majestic at the same time.
It is just incredible. The pristine waters, empty spaces and pure clean air, make visiting here a joyous experience~
Thanks for sharing your wonderful travels. 🙂
Thank you much more for your very kind appreciation!
Beautiful series of landscape pictures! The mountains and ocean make them awesome!
Thank you very much. The photos were a bit of a challenge due to heavy overcast skies.
Clouds are the part of these pictures too. I do not like flat and sky. Clouds crate drama and character.
Good point! I have photographed this area in the sunshine with clouds but not overcast, and it was more of a challenge whilst overcast, but I really appreciate you appreciating the results. Thank you Alexander.
Sorry, I missed the point – overcast. Yes, it is better to have clouds and sunshine together. Anyway, they are looking great.
Be well my friend~
How truly beautiful and exciting. I appreciate the fact that you bring me along when you travel. There are so many lovely things to see. I’m so glad you’re having a fabulous time.
You make my life better <3
Breathtaking views, wow! Beautifully captured, Cindy. Clouds and snow made even more beautiful. 🙂
It was challenging photo wise, but I am very happy you enjoyed & cheers to you Amy <3
Hello Cindy and Family

Cheers, Cindy. What a beautiful place 🙂
Thanks much & it is an amazing part of the world. Cheers back to you!
Wonderful pictures from the end of the world!
Muchas gracias. The End of the World is a very nice place!
I hope to get there one of these days – it’s on my bucket list!
Oh good, be sure to visit Chile while you’re here~
You have been to some amazing places!
Thanks, and there are so many more left to see!
Love it.
We never know where you will be next – even at the end of the world! Loved tagging along!
So happy you travel along! You make the experience better. Cheers to you~
Wow – absolutely stunning Cindy!
Thank you Val. It is a stunning part of the world!
What a beautiful trip you must have had, Cindy. 🙂 🙂
Yes, this part of the world has a definite way of calling you back, and back again~
Incredible photos! I felt like I was there with you. I kinda wanna plant some poppies 🙂
These poppies were so huge and so gorgeous. There were a whole ocean front garden full of them. I am so happy you travel with me <3
Here I am at the end of the comments world, so far! 😀
I’m so impressed that you’ve been all the way to Tierra del Fuego! I’m also sure it’s one of the last least unspoiled places on earth. I say “least” because it seems our global warming is ruining the ice that penguins live on.
My brother-in-law went down for a job (photography) about 10 years ago. He lived on a ship that went through all that ice where the penguins live, and photographed them. So austere, but the penguins are beautiful. So, now I know 2 people who went to the end of the world.
Amazing photos, Cindy, and just plain amazing!
The first time we were here we went on to Antarctica which changed my life. That was ten years ago and I had just taken early retirement. We came back a second time and stayed for a week. Going through Tierra del Fuego this time, my husband and I were struck with the retreat of the ice. It was extremely dramatic. Black rock instead of ice met the sea. Penguin chicks are reportedly dying because the parents go out one at a time to fish and bring food home, and they have to go so far out to find fish, the chicks starve while they wait. It still looks pristine and incredible, but the damage unfortunately is even reaching down here.
Wonderful rugged landscapes! Were you by chance on your way to Antarctica?
This was our third visit to this region. On our first, we went to Antarctica which is by far the most incredible travel experience of my life. I do want to go back, maybe next time we travel down here. But the first time was so magical, spiritual, and perfect, with perfect weather, that I am almost afraid to spoil the memory. There was a guy with us who was on something like his 30th trip to Antarctica!
Those mountains are impressive, Cindy. And to be able to enjoy them with your kids, special. –Curt
Yes. It was pretty awesome, and the fact that they loved it made it even better~
Fantastic picture of this very lovely place – a small town near the sea or port and surrounding nature to explore. The view in the last picture is so soothing!
This whole area, the gateway to Antarctica, is just like a soothing spiritual dream. I have to keep going back to convince myself it is real. People aren’t here so much, but creation is everywhere.
Lovely photos Cindy.
Leslie
I am happy you enjoyed them <3
🙂
Beautiful, colorful captures. I know I’d be happy here, and I haven’t seen your critter photos yet. We love boats and water too. 🙂
Thank you & yep…. have to be on them both (boats & water).
Regularly.
Wow, what vistas! Sounds like my kind of place. <3
Oh yes it is Eliza! You would find so much room to breathe here. And you would be less intimidated by the ice & snow,
Reblogged this on charles french words reading and writing and commented:
Once again, Cindy’s photography is beautiful!
Ahhh, and once again, I am so lucky to have a beautiful friend like you Charles. Thank you most sincerely~
Stunning pictures as always Cindy. Thank you.
xxx Huge Hugs xxx
Hugs back to you sweet friend & thank you’s too!
Wow! That is a stunning place and spending time with the kids is even better. Thanks for sharing the trip. I will never, ever get there any other way. 🙂
Who knows how long I will continue to be able to travel due to intervening variables… called real life.
But the best thing is, I can travel right now, and do travel, everynight, in my imagination, and these trips are the best ones ever, because unlike real life, they are perfect, since I make them up.
If these photos put positive images of far flung places in your mind and you travel there in your imagination, then I am very happy, because you are engaging in perfect travel, and you deserve it.
I’ve seen a lot of the world but from moving place to place and being exposed to different cultures in depth. We never sought out the lovely areas. Those days are done but I still have my memories. You get to fill in all the other blanks. Books and documentaries add to it. Then I get to feel like I’ve been there. I’m glad you have such a vivid imagination. 🙂 Maybe that’s what makes your photos extraordinary. I’m lucky you can travel but my guess is you would see the marvel in anywhere you are. You change my perspective with how you see things.
“….but my guess is you would see the marvel in anywhere you are.” This is exactly it! I can be anywhere, and I will find the beauty. It is always there, no matter where you are, just waiting to be noticed. You are an extraordinary person and I so glad we had the opportunity to meet.
Thank you, I brag on you to anyone who will listen. 🙂
Wow!
Yes! <3
It looks beautiful there! Hugz Lisa
Hugs back to you and Lucy <3
More beauties
Thank you kindly!
Wait! What? You’re coming to ESSEX?
Laughing…..I wish!
🙂
You take the best trips and the best photos, Cindy! Lovely place!😍
Awww, so kind & so appreciated! Thank you~
I’m glad this wasn’t the “end of the world” post my mind projected with your title. 🙂 Who knew the end of the world was so pretty! 🙂
Laughing….plus, right past The End of the World, is Antarctica which is a most magical place~
Wonderful!
<3
So jealous! Looks marvelous!
It is special. We have only visited in the southern summer. I can barely imagine what it would be like here in the southern winter!
As usual, Cindy, your photos are mesmerizing! We would love to hike up those mountains. 🙂
The Andes are magnificent and you can hike in them. El Calafate where we were in prior trip is a great Andes hiking starting point. You can also access the Andes from Chile.
That’s great! One of our long-term plans is to visit Patagonia. I think we will squeeze in an adventure in the Andes in there.
The Andes and Patagonia are one! You will enjoy yourself immensely and probably return as we have.
Ah okay. Sorry for my poor geography. I thought they were different. LOL!
Stunning scenery, Cindy! And having the whole family together in such a beautiful spot must have been heavenly!
Thank you Debbie and yes, being together at The End of the World for New Years was wonderful!
I am already looking forward to your wildlife and bird photos from El Fin del Mundo!
That makes me very happy! Thank you & cheers too~
These photos are absolutely stunning, Cindy. The detail is exquisite. I love traveling with you to such beautiful places ❤
I love traveling with you Tina! You make it much more fun <3
Aw thank you, my lovely friend ❤
<3 <3 <3
If this is what the end of the world looked like, Cindy, I would not mind it!
My feelings exactly! Bring it on….
🙂
The end of the world is truly an unspoiled place.
Yes it is and this is why I keep returning to it!
Reblogged this on Die Erste Eslarner Zeitung – Aus und über Eslarn, sowie die bayerisch-tschechische Region!.
Vielen dank mein lieber Freund!
Thank you!

What an amazing place Cindy no wonder you keep returning. I look forward to seeing what critters you found
So pleased to have you traveling along Pauline & cheers to you my friend <3
Always a pleasure, and especially as you visit such exotic and interesting places
Well, from my side,
especially,
you are such an exotic and interesting person.
Which,
think about it for a minute….
you are!
Thanks Cindy, what a lovely thing to say 😍
<3
An awesome place to visit. I hope you are compiling a book of all your blog posts. They are fantastic!
I just thought of this and you a few days ago. I initially did make some books, prodded by you, but haven’t for several years now.
I would keep going back to “The friENd of the world” too. ٩(๑•◡-๑)۶ⒽⓤⒼ♡⑅*•. ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙·̩̩̥͙*̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .•♡

Hey Cindy, Namaste 🙂
Travelling the world from the comfort of my armchair hardly seems appropriate but whilst you continue to enthral with images and views of so many destinations, I shall continue travelling with you sat here 🙂
I’m actually very taken with the minimalist simplicity of Ushuaia. It feels a place untouched by excess and untainted by the machinations of humankind. I imagine it a close community. The wilderness that surrounds it is spectacular: pristine is a great word – I will look forward to images of the local wildlife as and when you post 🙂 Great stuff, thanks.
I was taken with the poppy….the red of her is such an allure.
Lady Poppy is magnificent, she always catches my eye.
“Lay down your weary head my Love,” she whispers with a sigh.
“Come dream the dream of Kings and Queens in my Opiate lullaby.”
“Morpheus waits At The End Of The World: – are you ready to fly high?”
~*~
Hoping all is well Cindy and life is a peach on a beach or a stroll on an atoll or a circumnavigation of sun-drenched decking 🙂
Namaste 🙂

My great grandfather was a poppy plantation owner in Bulgaria. I don’t actually know if that made him an opium supplier or just a flower lover. I suppose he could have been both. He reportedly was a staunch sort and his son became a judge in the US who rarely drank wine, and never grew poppies, only cacti and roses. I have inherited a love of poppies, but thankfully not of opium.
I am so pleased you travel with me, my friend. You make the experience richer~
Lady Poppy inspires dreams in all manner of ways and was no doubt just waiting for a reader to ask after her 🙂 That is a fascinating little story and you told it so well – there’s also a poem just itching to start about a judge in the US who rarely drank wine, and never grew poppies, only cacti and roses – I couldn’t of come up with that as a character profile in a million years. 🙂
I love the idea of Cacti and Roses growing side by side: such a beautiful balance (and another poem!) My grandfather also grew cacti having been a rose enthusiast and if memory serves secreted away a Maple Bonsai: but I have just the faintest recall as if I am remembering nothing more than one glimpse.
Tis a pleasure to travel with you Cindy. I enjoy all you blog.
Namaste 🙂

You know something?
I just basically love you.
And you know,
it’s true.
Well now Cindy, that is a beautiful sentiment to wake up to on a Sunday morning 🙂
~
Might we have met once before in a poem?
In a forest bathed in Moonlight.
Might I have been led by your ethereal Vixen
As you danced me to the end of night?
~
Might I recall the gifts you gave to me,
When in the chamber of your bower:
Might Chivalry, Kingship and Noble Love,
Have been the order of the hour?
~
Might we have shared one moment so fine,
One moment to last in my heart for all time.
Might we always be together in the poetic wishing well,
Waltzing through the wilds as one bound within Love’s spell.
~*~
From London Foxes onwards we’ve shared one Loving heart,
You are the travelling Hummingbird with a fiery Appalachian hearth
I am the tramping stowaway who walks with you stride for stride.
The Minstrel whose melancholy leaves him when journeying by your side.

Thank you for being Empyrean’s luminary daughter 😉
Love you Cindy. Have a wonderful weekend.

All are beautiful. Thank you.
Oh, thank you more!
I’d so like to get there one day… sadly, it’s never going to happen – so your photos are a very good reminder of what I’ll not see! RH
I am sorry to hear you won’t see this part of the world, but pleased you enjoyed the photos. Cheers to you!

Stunning views Cindy!
Muchas gracias amiga mia!
🙂 <3
Great shots, Cindy – they capture the End of the World very well. I’m just “up the road” though – in Los Lagos in Chile right now – recommended (!) if you can make it on your current trip.
Thanks for the pics of Ushuaia!
We were just there at Lago Llanquihue! Small world & beautiful region!
Cheers to you!!! Looks wonderful
Thank you & its is! Cheers to you~
What an interesting place with great photos as always. Thank you for sharing your them and your experiences.

Danke für Ihre Freundlichkeit und sei gut mein Freund~
I like travel with you! They are marvellous surprises!
Thank you for your company. It makes the experience much better!
When I went to Wisconsin with hubby… that seemed like another world – right on the edge of Lake Michigan. How wonderful to have your whole family travel with you!
Send some warmth this way… while we have had a spring-like day or two, our winter has been bone chilling!
Hugs, and thanks… Jules
We’ll take your precipitation and you can have our sunshine! I am so sorry to hear about your troll. You do know you can blacklist sorts at WP and they are not allowed to comment on your blog. It works beautifully and is one of the benes of WP. Happy New Year Jules~
I did that… I’ll explain in an email.
<3
Are you travelling by ship or train? It looks a bit chilly but beautifully still. I feel I need some sunshine this year 🙂
A bit of both, but this is the longest I had been on a boat at one time, a total of 30 days. I live in the land of perpetual sunshine in Southern California, so traveling to the colder latitudes is fine for me, but if you live where it is colder, as you do, it makes sense to travel to the sun!
What a gorgeous blue in the sea and sky! Are you back yet??
Thank you & yes! We just got home~
beste Grüße von mir zu dir, Klaus
Danke Klaus und sei gut mein Freund!
wünsche ein topp Wochenende, Klaus
Vielen dank mein lieber Freund und Frohe Wochenende!

A part of the world I have wanted to visit ever since reading about it as a child. Wonderful! Lucky you!
If you go, you will want to go back! This is our third time. It calls to you because it is so stunning~
Such deep blue hues on the mountians.

You need to add this to your bucket list Oscar. You will love it here~
What a stunning location Cindy– glad you got to enjoy it all together!! You’ve been there before?? Not many people get to far afield more than once! hugs!
Thank you Rhonda for your very kind thoughtfulness. The more I travel, the more I realize how small our world really is!
I would love to have your travel schedule Cindy!! So thanks for sharing it around with us… xox

Lovely, as usual. So clear. Love the colors!
Thank you so much and lovely to meet you!
All the photos are gorgeous, but the second from the end is a masterpiece. Thank you for taking us to a place I haven’t seen in real life. I almost feel like I’ve been there now 🙂 Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend!
I am so very lucky to meet and make friends like you in our virtual blogging world. Thank you so much for your kindness & be well my friend~
I feel very blessed too 😊 Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
<3 🕯️
What a lovely post, Cindy, and to be there with your children had to be extra special. That poppy is fabulous!
The poppies are so huge! Truly gorgeous & thank you my friend for the thoughtful comment <3
The sky looks so huge. The city looks isolated. As if the rest of the world didn’t exist.
That is exactly how it feels being here!
I think you must like those feelings, given the holler probably has some of the same qualities.
Yes. I do. I love solitude and natural spaces and wild critters. You know me <3
Who could blame you after a career of dealing with the out-of-control anger of others? You deserve space and wild critters. 🙂
You really do know me. Wild animals are a lot easier…. <3
Yes, less complicated by far. Trauma makes people do things against their own interests. Become irrational. That’s an explosive mix. Animals are just hungry or scared.
Exactly.
Argentina is the tip of South America! I like the idea of it being the “end of the world,” Cindy.
Hope this 2018 holds many more family trips, wonders and delights. 🎉 💗 💐
Happiest New Year to you dear Robin and only the very best for you and your family! <3
I am so thankful our paths have crossed and journeys shared, Cindy. ❤ 🌈 Peace and joy always sent your way!

Aww, this is a really cool “new to me” special message, Cindy. xo 💖

I’ve often read about this area, and I’ve seen a few photos, but never as spectacular as yours are, I can see why you’d want to visit this place as often as you do!
What a thoughtful thing to say! Thank you & cheers too~
