Would you like to live an alpine life,
by the lapping shores,
of a languid lake,
high in your mountain hideaway.
You might never feel lonesome,
with wild creatures for comfort,
because there is nothing more lonely,
than a crowd of people.
Cheers to you from some mountain sanctuaries~
Absolutely yes….what a beautiful place captured in your photos 🙂
I am so glad you are a kindred spirit who loves the mountains and the lakes!
so very true, about a crowd of people. beautiful photos.
I am loneliest in a crowd and love to avoid them~
Beautiful scenery, Cindy! You visit some marvelous places, and thank you for sharing them with all of us. 🙂
Thank you more for letting me share them with you Lavinia & cheers to you my friend~
Hello Cindy I love your photos, I don’t know how I’d feel living there. 🙂
Some people love solitude and others perfer crowds. To each their own~
I would! such a breathtaking place <3
Yes it nurtures one soul and psyche~
It really does 🙂
<3
Is that Gold Lake?
Nope, Bennet, Saddlebag, TJ and Mono Lakes~
Beautiful shots, Cindy! I do so love lakes. It seems like they are the watering holes of our planet.
And our psyches and souls~
Such beauty. Can make you feel very small!
Beautiful country.
It is gorgeous, but cold in the winter!
https://s3.amazonaws.com/lowres.cartoonstock.com/animals-penguin-bird-arctic-cold_water-south_pole-mmln205_low.jpg
I agree. It is very nice to not feel important, takes the weight of the world off of your shoulders. 🙂
It does just this and I love this feeling. It calms me. Wonderful that you do too~
You comment and my response keep disappearing. It is the missing comment mystery~
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/45/90/b3/4590b381e8222a073808d4676f2d59be.jpg
Your comment is disappearing on my app, too! How odd…. WP. 😉
That is so wierd! It just showed up!
It definitely does, I love this feeling of connection to something so much larger~
Nothing more lonely than crowds, no. 😬
Solitude is comforting to some, crowds to others. The key is parking yourself where you feel best~
Absolutely. If we all needed/wanted the same things, we’d be in trouble 😉
The mountains would be super crowded for example! 🙁
It would be so peaceful to live there!!!! Nice and quiet and fresh air, nature’s beauty! Hugz Lisa and Bear
Plus Bear would be in dog heaven!
right on right ON! 🙂
Yay! Thank you!
I agree – right on and all shits are great – but the feature one is a slice of heaven retreat!
Awww, so appreciated and thank you!
They are beautiful images Cindy! It must feel amazing to be surrounded by the scenery.
Thank you Maiko. The mountains are incredibly calming to me and always have been!
I’d live there in a heartbeat!! Gorgeous!
A kindred soul! <3 🗻
I’m torn between wanting to be stranded there for the vast eye candy -vs- a city dweller for comforts and culture. After living in the country for 25 years, I remember how isolated I felt at times. Maybe if I could have all my buds in little cottages with front porches to visit. To say your photo’s are intensely beautiful is so inadequate, there just aren’t enough superlatives. But to echo many travellers, I’ll say, “a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there” x B
It basically comes down to an introversion vs extroversion scale. Introverts are comforted by solitude and avoid crowds, extroverts tend to be less comfortable with solitude and prefer being around lots of people~
Awww, so nice and I hear you about the snow. That is the rub. There is always a rub!
Breathtaking … in summer and in winter for different reasons. I would join you there Cindy 💛 Thank you for sharing these special mountain lakes!
We could motor across the lake to visit if we ever felt lonely, or snow shoe in winter!
Beautiful pictures of the place. I am not sure I could live there but for certain the views of the place are breath taken.
I might wimp out in mid-winter……
https://s3.amazonaws.com/lowres.cartoonstock.com/weather-snow-climate-snows-snowman-cold_sweep-gfon651_low.jpg
It does not take more than few days any season for me to wimp out 🙂
<3 <3
The water is so clear! Very beautiful 😊.
Wonderful to see the lack of pollution isn’t it!
It really is, Cindy.
<3 🗻
Stunning! Just amazing.
Very happy you enjoyed & cheers to you my friend~
Pristine wilderness – so lovely for a getaway. And no crowds, how’d you manage that? 😉
I’m allergic to crowds! 😉
You, too? 🙂 That’s why I live where I do!
And that is also why we understand each other~ <3
Lovely photos taken in the most beautiful place Cindy 🙂
I don’t like crowds either.
Enjoy a beautiful weekend.
You too Irene and may the crowds not be with you!
Thank you Cindy, nature is all as we need and a good camera 😀
😀
Exactly my thoughts!

Beautiful photos Cindy! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you more for appreciating & cheers to you~
Thanks! Same to you!

Whoa Cindy! That first photo is unbelievable with the clarity of the water and the reflection playing behind. Just exquisite! thanks for bringing us beautify week after week… xo
Thank you so much more for your kind support and appreciation. Be well Rhonda~ <3

Beautiful mountain sanctuaries! Cindy found some lovely hideaways…
🙂
It’s very true…I feel more lonely in a crowd, than I do when I’m by myself! Lovely, serene hideaway, here.
🙂
No surprise to me that you feel this way too. Crowds are not places where meaningful interaction often occurs and if you are an introvert, you don’t like them~
That’s exactly it…spot on!
*HUGS*
🙂
<3 <3
Beautiful, until winter comes. Probably beautiful then too, but no place for me.
I understand, but it is awesome for skiing and snow-shoeing!
These are superb. I’m lucky enough to be writing this from the Finnish Lakeland so while I don’t have any mountains I have stunning lakes too. And no, no loneliness either. Far too many mozzies in the evenings!!!
I know just how stunningly gorgeous the Finnish Lakeland is! Lucky you, except of course for those darn mozzies!

Amazing view of your journey into the wonders of pristine nature. Loved it! <3
I am so pleased you traveled with me!
So very true (about being lonely in a crowd of people).
One never feels lonely in Nature.
Wonderful images.
Some lucky people feel quite content in nature’s embrace! <3
Oh, I would absolutely want to live there! With all the non-man made sights and sounds (and soothing ones at that), solitude in nature satisfies my brain so much more than the urban jungle does. We’re of like mind here! <3
Yes, we are of like mind in most on the most important things Lynn~

Give me wide open spaces with clean fresh air, awesome scenery and wildlife any day! Your photos have captured the beauty and serenity that I love Cindy.
It is nice when two people understand each other completely! <3
Liebliche Fotos…
Vielen dank Ernst und Frohe Sonnentag!
Only nature could give us such refreshing tranquility. I could live there forever.
♡〜ლ(๑癶ᴗ癶๑)ლ〜♡
We could live on different sides of the lake and paddle our canoe over for a visit!

That’s a wonderful idea, my friend!

This week Cindy Knoke takes us to the isolated but stunning lakes and mountains that are home to wildlife but few humans. Imagine waking up each morning to one of these vistas and sipping your coffee while you watch nature at its best. thanks Cindy for another stunning array.
Thank you dear Sally. It would be nice to tele-port to all the places we might want to go at any given point in time. Until that happens we have to settle for airplanes and cars~
Or trains.. we are still contemplating the Rockies trip.. and your photographs this week certainly motivated. xx
Train trips through the mountains are magical!

Nature lovers are welcome here! <3
Nature’s refreshment – just wonderful Cindy <3
You know you have a standing invitation! <3
Oooh, thank you – one day I may just come <3
What a healing, peaceful view. <3
Thank you Dina. We all need lots of views just like this to counteract all the negativity in the world~ 🗻
Just awe inspiring – photos are great and they invite the view to go there – such a joy!
You joy made my morning! Thank you & cheers too~
So very beautiful, Cindy. It would be a nice life, for sure.
I would be quite content and am happy you would be too~
Very beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing

You too my friend and I am sending healing, happy thougths to you! <3
is the area you showed us one winter.. where you go to ski??? same idea?
Yes it is! How clever of you to remember and connect them. This is the same area in the summer! 🗻 🗻
“And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high,
I’ve seen it raining fire in the sky.
I know he’d be a poor man if he never saw an eagle fly,
Friends around the campfire and everybody’s high
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado.” ~
🙂 🙂 🙂
A pleasure to see any mountain
John Denver definitely knew the feeling of a genuine mountain high. Beautiful! Thank you Graham & cheers to you my friend~ 🗻 🗻 🗻
And cheers to you you too. 🙂

I could live there in two seconds flat. Beautiful, Cindy.
I’ll race ya! It is so nice to share such a deep accord! <3 🗻
Miss those views!! Loved Colorado Springs CO the best of all the places I’ve lived. Nothing like falling asleep on the top of Pikes Peak listening to the rustling of Aspen leaves 🙂 Thank you for this post Cindy!
I love this post because it is drawing out all of us who crave nature and love solitude! It is wonderful to find such a community. <3 🗻

Foto molto belle – complimenti –
Mille grazie!
Love the photos and the thoughts, eg, “nothing so lonely as a crowd of people” Solitude has its benefits. Once again, thanks for taking us with you.
You and I love the 🗻 🗻 🗻 Wally, and so we understand each other, which is always a wonderful gift. Be well my friend~
Oh Cindy… you are making miss the Sierras. 🙂 –Curt
Yep. I start missing them as we start to drive away! 🗻
Stunning views, Cindy. Very nice.
I am very pleased that you enjoyed!
lovely place and what a photography awesome and fabolous
I am honored and touched. Thank you and cheers too!
I love the photos, Cindy. Coming from Montana-Big Sky country, I got the same serene feeling looking at these pictures. Really nurtures the soul. Thank you <3
Montana wilderness is probably my favorite. I love it there and have spent a lot of time in Glacier National Park. Must have been wonderful growing up there~
My daughter is at Glacier right now, hiking, and sending tons of photos- it’s a breathtaking place!
Glacier and Waterton are absolutely incredible places with so many opportunities to see wildlife. Your daughter is lucky!
Sweet reminders of our visit to Rocky Mountain National Park two years ago. The first shot, especially, reminded me of one of the gorgeous lakes we stumbled upon – either Dream Lake or Nymph Lake, I’ve forgotten which was which after all the time.
Beautiful photos. They make me want to go back to the mountains, back to hiking woodland trails. I read once where it’s impossible to be in a bad mood when you walk through a forest. I believe that to be true!
I hope you go soon and am so glad the photos sparked positive memories for you!
Cindy, these pictures are lovely. They remind me of summers we spent at a lake in Northern Saskatchewan. Even though I was little I remember how great it was. Then in my “tweens” we were here in BC and summered at another more populated lake. However, it was still a simpler life than the city where my friend and I could go horseback riding in the day and to the fun park in the evening without our parents worrying. Now, in my middle age phase I still love going to a lake even for a day to feel the peace and calm it brings. Thanks for sharing and giving me my memories!
Comments like this make bloggin so rewarding! Thank you for taking the time to share your childhood memories. These memories form core inner resources in you that can be drawn upon at will to take you soaring back to these beautiful places whenever you want or need to. Be well Lydia and thank you~
Thanks, Cindy. When I went to my first pain clinic many years ago they told us to find a “happy place” where we could
Oops, I posted too soon.
We were to find a happy place where we felt happy and alive. For me it was a waterfall tucked in a little corner of paradise. You had to walk along the salmon ladders (which was awesome in itself) and over a couple of wood bridges. The trek took about a half hour on foot. The falls were noisy and there were only rocks around so it wasn’t beautiful but I felt like I could scream about my pain and only God and the fish could hear me. So, that is where I have “gone” in my head for 25 years of chronic pain. So, water has played a huge part in my life.
The power of visualizing a place in which you feel a deep emotional and spiritual connection cannot be underestimated. It is powerful and improves with practice as you well know. I am very glad you found your mental escape place~
Yes!! Such a wonderful retreat…but perhaps a few special family and friends along to share?😀😃 Amazing photos!
Yes, close family is always a comfort~
Gorgeous photos, Cindy. The peacefulness of the place is evident, and I love lakes with water so clear. Around here the water is brown and you can’t see the bottom except at the water’s edge. Thanks for taking me there!
Thank you more for traveling virtually with me!
Simply gorgeous, Cindy. Is this in Montana? We were just in Glacier and had such a wonderful time exploring its beauty. Great post!
Glacier is simply incredible, but this is the Eastern Sierra in California~
I wondered, thanks.
Lucky you for just being there!
Just beautify, I’ve got to get up that way again.
You can never visit here too much!
Beautiful!
Ah, thank you John and hope you are well!
An Incredible Beauty…
I am honored. Thank you & cheers too~
Only if I can have wifi and regular supply visits from a brawny mountain climber with curly dark hair, a scruffy chin and a penchant for bringing me chocolate.
Just you, Daniel Boone, and the bears!

LOL Um… bears?
Bigger, hairier, and brawnier than Daniel Boone~
Beautiful Cindy. Thanks for sharing your mountain sanctuary. I’d like to visit. 🙂
You are most welcome Brad and I hope you do visit!
Thanks Cindy!
thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photos Cindy

Thank you and welcome! It is a pleasure to visit your blog. Bloggers provide a different forum than is available in mainstream media for viewing the world and it is a forum that I treasure. <3
😍😍😍 I love this place 😍😍😍
I am very pleased you love the 🗻 🗻🗻 & cheers to you!
Your photos of these breathtaking views are excellent. I can only imagine how gorgeous the views must be in person.
Thank you my friend. It is hard to the beauty and serenity of an alpine lake. 🗻
You’re so right, Cindy — crowds can be very lonely places. Thank you for my Calgon moment this morning!!
Laughing, we need our Calgon moments and I am happy to provide you with one!
Thank you, Cindy, for this visit to alpine solitude. Your photos are gorgeous. And I am happy you’re enjoying the mountain sanctuaries.
I wish I was still there. But I am definitely enjoying the memory of 🗻🗻!
Lovely prose. Beautiful photos. I am a water girl. I need to be near water, but alas, unless my sprinkler system goes off accidentally and sprays me in my bed, the only water I feel is when my aid washes my hair 🙂 Thank you for sharing this inspiring post.
Ahhh, so sorry. I wish I could transport you there. <3 <3
Cindy, there is nothing as gorgeous as an alpine lake! Your photos honor these spectacular places!
I know you and I love mountain lakes and spend lots of time on their soothing shores!

Awww, very pleased you enjoyed and thank you!
Wow! Nothing tops Mother Nature in beauty! Looks like big animal country to me! 🙀😄
Yes, and I got up close with a black bear cub. He hightailed it away from me like nobodies business!🐻🐻

I’d love to live in an alpine valley in August; not so much in January.
Yes, unless you like to ski or snow-shoe, and in California, where this is, it is not long at all before spring comes. Plus we need more SNOW!
http://hd.wallpaperswide.com/thumbs/spring_illustration-t2.jpg
This is a magical place!
It is and I am happy you see it! Cheers to you~
From the mapping and feel of ghost towns of your last post, to this incredible view of mother nature and her valley’s and vistas ~ magic indeed. I like the line “nothing more lonely than a crowd of people…” 🙂
Some people love being in crowds of people. It depends where you fall on extroversion vs. introversion scales. In crowds, I feel like a lemming being dragged towards a cliff! 😉
Ha, ha ~ yes, I feel the same 🙂
suspected you might~
I am not positive if I wrote a comment about the beautiful, placid lake photographs, Cindy. I love the way they look so clean and clear, the reflections are gorgeous. I would like these locations as a “getaway,” maybe I could visit you? 🙂
I would miss my small town life with my seven grandies and my three grown children living close by. . . Hugs, Robin xo
You should visit Robin but probably not move permanently! You have too many important reasons to stay where you are. Be well my friend~ <3
A breathtaking series of landscapes! Just beautiful!
Aww, I am honored. Thank you Robert and thanks for stopping by~
Making a farmhouse near them..
Beautiful landscapes, Cindy. I always enjoy “tagging along” on your travels! Where to next?
I love traveling with you! Next we going to Vancouver Island to watch the grizzles go fishing. Bring your jacket! 😉
awesome pictures <3
Muchas gracias mi amiga y abrazos~
What a beautiful, peaceful lake. I can see myself kayaking or paddle boarding on it and watching the amazing scenic views. 🙂
Twould be wonderful!

Gorgeous photos!
Most appreciated & thank you!
the last shot I recognized! Thats the south shore of Mono lake. You must of been up on the ridge to the west looking down? Nice spot & great shots Cindy!
Exactly! The photo above that is also Mono Lake taken from The Parker Lake Trail near June Lake.
What a stunning location Cindy – this is definitely a place I could find piece and relax. You can’t beat that view!
A perfect spot for a laid back life which is my kinda life! 🗻
Another stunning post Cindy. Being in the foothills of the Pyrenees, it is not quite so high and instead of a lake it is where the Pyrenees bow to the Mediterranean. I’ve always had salt water in my veins so it seems we both have it all! 😀 xx
Lucy you! I can’t wait to be back in Alsace, eating!!!!

Thanks Amy! I am responding even though my responses are not showing up~ ):

Its ok Cindy! Msg was for you! Glad it reached you! 🙂
“Would you like to live an alpine life”
In this setting…, from May til October, then I’d have to head for a nice beach in Florida, Cuz. Both hold a great amount of beauty and attraction for me. 🙂
I hear you and I know this would be an ideal life for you~
