Tomorrow we head over the ‘Going to the Sun Road,’ across the continental divide, to East Glacier.

There is no internet in East Glacier so I will be out of touch for awhile, until we cross the border into Canada and Waterton Lakes National Park~
Until then, cheers to you from West Glacier

  1. Lovely photo’s Cindy and Welcome back to Canada! We were just in Calgary Alberta this weekend and loved seeing the mountains off in the distance. looks like a fire might have swept thru there some time ago and nature is in the process of renewing from the ashes. Gotta love what nature can do when left to her own devises.

  2. We went up into Waterton N. P. too when we went to Glacier Nat’l Park, after Yellowstone N.P. All of it was beautiful then that first week of June in 2011 when we went, but was still cold and snow in Y.N.P. even. They had to close the ‘Road to the Sun’ in Glacier because of snow pack there, but got plenty of other stuff to see, including a boat ride on Lake McDonald by the L.M. Lodge we stayed in and hiked the trails. Have fun and enjoy. It is truly beautiful and awe inspiring to see what our own country has to offer in national parks and nature reserves.

    1. Our national parks are so incredible. Today it is grey and cold for the first time. I had to buy a summer dress in Idaho because it was 87 degrees in Idaho and Glacier in mid-September, so I know how unpredictable the weather can be. You are doing the same trip we are in the reverse direction.

      1. Haha, just kidding, Cindy.. good to hear from you. But you know what? When I go anywhere, I don’t want to be an unwelcome guest, ever. So don’t worry about me putting up a shack there and ruining the beauty of that place 😛

  3. yay you are coming our way again… =^_^= well.. back into Canada.. safe travel..when we were in Montana we considered going thru up into that park… muah

    1. And basically anything mother nature creatures!! <3 <3 When we were entering Waterton in Canada, the ranger asked, "Why are you visiting Waterton?"
      I said, "Because it's beautiful."
He said, "There are lots of beautiful places…"
And I answered, "And I want to see them all!" 🙂

  5. Hi Cindy ! It’s been too many years since I’ve seen that country and I’m so enjoying it again through your pics. Used to do a lot of trout fishing all over western Montana, more down in the central/southern reaches, but I really liked to travel up through Glacier, Waterton, Banff, and would do it again in a heartbeat but my travelin’ companion is terrified of mountain roads, especially if she can see over the guardrail how far up/down we are. If it could be summertime all year out there I’d live there. Soooooo beautifl ! Enjoy it to the fullest !! 🙂

    1. It is just absolutely glorious country with genuinely kind and helpful people. Plus there is huckleberry pie, and huckleberry ice cream! I am in huckleberry heaven! Hugs to you cuz! <3 <3

  6. Magnificent park, Cindy, and your photos are so crisp and colorful, reflecting such beauty, and autumnal wonder. Thanks so much for bringing us along on your journey. Have fun!
