It is a delicate time to visit Russia due to the crisis in the Ukraine. Wifi is difficult to access.
Check out the interiors of the Hermitage in St Petersburg. It has 22 miles of interior corrirdors!
The Russian Orthodox Church of the Spilled Blood is amazingly beautiful!
The interiors are solid mosaic.
A visual feast!
The Peterhof Palace Gardens designed by Peter the Great, has a channel connecting the palace to the Gulf of Finland.
The Gardens are lovely!
We covered a lot of territory, and I will post some photos of typical Russian homes in the city and countryside when I return to better wifi. Until then, excuse my inability to follow your blogs. I miss them!
Cheers to you from Russia with Love~
So glad you found enough wifi to send these lovelies.
I forgot to even look at my fotos of the forbidden to photograph Amber Room in the Catherine Palace. A huge room entirely covered in Amber!
Oh that would be divine! I adore amber.
Fabulous photos of a fabulous place 🙂
Yes! Such lovely people!
Thank you for sharing your lovely photos Cindy.
Thank you for appreciating them Ranu!
The interiors are awe inspiring. Not so sure what I think of the golden statues.
Pretty over the top aren’t they? I didn’t include a lot of fotos of the Catherine Palace as it was so over the top!
Cheers to you too, Cindy, enjoy your days
>
You too my friend and cheers!
🙂
Wunderschön. Und tolle Bilder.
Vielen danke! Freundschaft!
I loved the Malachite Room. All that glitters might well be gold (leaf?). I saw Kermit being filmed in Red Square. “Hmm. I smell a little Basil in the air” he said. Top that!! (I also ran the Moscow International Peace Marathon but I was much younger then (in my forties).) You must get out more. 🙂
Laughing…..I will try. I did take fotos in the Amber Room, a room in the Catherine Palace completely covered in Amber. It is forbidden to take fotos. I forgot to look at the fotos which I will do now!!! 🙂
The Malachite Room is at the Hermitage/Winter Palace. When I saw it there was lots of malachite furniture and accessories in addition to the malachite colums. All that glitters I’m referring to the statues at the Peterhof Palace you have pictured. Enjoy. Say hi to Vlad (not The Impaler).
Wow
concordo! dalla Russia con amore

Yes they are quite remarkable and I was surprised by the same thing<1
Beautiful and colorful pictures of this incredible trip. What a joy to even receive them while you are traveling.
Awwwww, such a thoughtful comment!
prachtvoll!
The Russians just kidnapped an Estonian officer on Estonian territory. I could spit Putin in the face!
Please stay in Russia and never come to Sweden or Estonia!
All other decent persons boycott Russia , you are supporting facsist killers, stupid yankee!
You, by your snide, juvenile, anti-social comments have insulted one of the kindest, gentlest people I know. I would demand an apology for her, to her, but those who think like you never would !
I love you cuz and send you hugs from Russia. Hope you are well my friend.
Wow….amazing places
Beautiful images, Cindy. Take care. xx 🙂

I really like the painting on the wall in side. They are fantastic and fascinating.

Amazing colors!
Magnificent photos, Cindy! I haven’t seen photos of St Petersburg this close and beautiful. 22 miles of interior corrirdors, Wow! Thank you for thinking of your followers while you’re traveling.
22 miles, wow that is incredible. Oh, Cindy, how envious (in a good way) I am right about now. I have always wanted to visit Russia, but for now, I shall settle for your pictures. Thank you!
Lovely. Are you going to the ballet??????
Your photos are stunning. I like!
Beautiful art and architecture. Thanks for the tour, Cindy! 🙂
Stunning architecture. Such talent never ceases to amaze me 🙂
Bingo! The love, talent and time boggle the mind! Cheers to you and thank you~
They’re great. Keep them coming when you have WiFi again. I took a tour of Russia and Ukraine in 1989 to commemorate my grandfather’s family’s 100 yr. immigration to the U.S. from Odessa, Ukraine and loved everything there although it was during the ‘cold war’ and communist regime. I saw all these same places then and love them all and got fairly good photos then with a little Kodak Instamatic camera before the goo pixel ones came out, but the trip was great. Traveled with people from the U.S. from different states as my husband was unable to go with me then due to job obligations. Have a great time and stay safe. Wish I could visit it again but as you said it is probably a little riskier a trip to take right about now. 🙂
I love that you know just what I am seeing. Truly remarkable. Your trip sounds fascinating as well! Unfortunately travel to the Ukraine is quite impossible now, but I know it is beautiful and would love to see it under peaceful circumstances. Cheers to you and thank you~
This is wonderful work Cindy, amazing! Greetings to you in Russia from the heart of the Mediterranean 🙂
Honored by your thoughtful comment and cheers back to you from Russia!

I love looking at your pics and remarking to myself “I was there!” It’s interesting that you are finding the environment “delicate.”

I was brought right back my student days when we walked the corridors of Hermitage and had an adventurous week in St. Petersburg! Thanks for sharing these glorious pictures!!
oooooooh! I want to hear more! That sounds like a major adventure and some incredible memories too~
Oh…that was a fairly wild trip…we were a social science class from my university visiting our counterpart class at the then Leningrad University. Very different from today’s Russia as you can imagine, but the historic places were the same of course.
Wonderful!
You are very kind my friend and very appreciated. Cheers to you~
I seriously can’t believe you were in Russia with all that is going on with their government hopefully you are safe there and can come home with no problem. I do hate to worry lol but I sadly I am up on current events lol Maybe you know my Russian Watercolor Teacher she goes back each year and runs a tour but then again she is Russian 🙂 Stay safe Cindy
Soooo wonderful to hear from you Eunice and so glad to see your posts, even though I have only had limited access to to wifi lately. I am safely out of Russia in Europe now so no worries my friend.
OK you worry me with your out of country gallivanting lo you know they hate Americans in most places 🙂
One cannot but fall in love with the architecture and paintings.

Thanks, Cindy! That’s such a lovely thing for you to say! 🙂
You are a lovely person~
I’ve wanted to visit St. Pete’s and the Hermitage for as long as I can remember, Cindy. It looks fabulous, as expected 🙂
Oh I hope you go! It is pretty much jaw-dropping and will keep you fully occupied for days on end! Cheers to you and let me know if you do go~
The genius of Peter the Great and his understanding of the “water works” astounded me and how he used gravity to power the fountains. My friend shared her photos with me last year—it is nice to “visit” Russia again through your photos!
Yes, my husband just read a 800+ page book about Peter as we toured Russia, a micro analysis of every detail of his life. He was an amazing architect, world traveler, and intellect. I learned a lot about him second hand!
Peter the Great knew how to live in style! The channel to the sea is unique and the statuary is gorgeous.
He certainly did and I agree with you about the channel to the sea and the gardens leading to it. Quite remarkable! <3
The most beautiful Cathedral in the whole world!!! Wow my goodness. 🙂
That was exactly my reaction! I was stunned by the beauty. So happy you like it!
Awesome! I’ve always wanted to visit, you’ve just reminded me I shouldn’t leave it too long. What an amazing place!
Yes, and with the current political situation, I didn’t know how long it will be fully open to visit, so I didn’t put it off. It was fascinating and I am so glad I went. It a definite learning experience on many levels and wonderful to meet the Russian people who were of course so nice and warm and welcoming. They wanted us to visit again!
Esti, simt, expresia concreta, specifica delicatului Univers Feminin!
Onu
wow very nice place ,,, thanks for sharing
Thank you for appreciating & cheers to you დ
