Oh, I’m being followed by a moonshadow…leaping and hopping in a moonshadow~ Cat Stevens
Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Beauty I’d always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I can’t say anymore ~ Moody Blues
Three things cannot be hidden, the sun, the moon and the truth~ Buddha
The sun, the moon, and the stars would have disappeared long ago…if they’d happened to be within the reach of predatory human hands~ Havelock Ellis
The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is undiminished~ Deng Ming-Dao
The moon is battered isn’t she, all those meteor impacts, but still she shines brightly on us, to keep our nights from drowning in the dark.
When my children were young this was their prayer every night:
I see the moon and the moon sees me. God bless the moon and God bless me~ Irish children’s lullaby
May the light of the moon always brighten your darkest nights. It will. If you just look up.
Cheers to you.
Such beautiful work

This is wonderful . I love all the lyrics. That was our “day”. These need to be shared.
Oh you are so kind! And it’s great to hear from you! Thank you~
Well, you had my immediate attention. You used the Moody Blues. One of many I have seen in concert. But I love your blog and would have read it no matter which lyrics you used. LOL Hugs, Barbara
So kind & so appreciated~
amazing pix, Miss Cindy, as usually… I’ve been fascinated by space, in general and planets, in particular since my childhood…(I know the Moon is not a planet, but the Earth’s satellite!) I did touch moon rocks several times at JSC Houston, as I lived in Clear Lake, NASA area for 5 years… a very challenging and exciting experience, indeed! 🙂
good night, have a sunny Friday like here and respectful regards, Mélanie – Toulouse, the European capital of space and aviation(Airbus city!)… 🙂
You live in beautiful Toulouse! Lucky you and gazi for your gracious comments! I am so glad you enjoyed the photos of our beautiful moon. Cheers to you~
I love both of those songs.
Am I showing my age? 😉
You are demonstating good musical taste……lol!
OMG! That’s amazing!
Awwww thank you & cheers!
Loved that song by the Moody Blues…and these are wonderful photos and quotes!
I was thinking of the “cold hearted orb that rules the night, removes the colors from our sight,” lyrics but that wasn’t the feeling I was going for!
Beatuiful!
Merci beaucoup!
Exceptional images and lovely quotes! I’m fascinated by the Moon 🙂
The best views I have ever had were from Africa. Did you take the photos and where from?
You are very very talented! luv xox
How kind of you! Yes I took them at my home that I call The Holler! I remember the moon in Africa and the amazing sunsets! Thanks for triggering the memories~
beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
So happy you liked & cheers to you!
Pawsome 🙂
Grazi & happy Friday!
Always loved the song and fab pictures too …
Muchas gracias mi amiga~
Fabulous photos and Iovely to be reminded of that sweet lullaby.
Beautiful isn’t it!
What lens – a lot of detail
It is my remarkable sony hx300. I love it!!
Lovely captures…
Poor moon takes a lot of hits & keeps on shining~
So so beautiful. I just absolutely love your posts and pictures…
You are very kind and it is most appreciated!
I love your photographs,Cindy.
You are a wonderful blog friend Ranu~

Awww…… that makes me feel great!
Just wanted to let you know,i’ve deleted my old blog. This is my new Blog; http://adamsymposium.wordpress.com/
Oh, I’m in love with the Moon. So funny, I had ‘Nights in White Satin’ on my mind for a couple of days well… x
Jung would see this as an example of synchronicity!
So schöne Bilder vom Mond wünsche dir einen schönen besinnlichen Advent liebe Grüße von mir Gislinde
Gluckliche Advent Gislinde und vielen Dank!
I LOVE the moon! Your pics are fantastic! Have a wonderful day! Hugz Lisa and Bear
Hugz and thanks flying back at you two!
Fantastic! I have no idea how you do this, but you always capture nature at its finest! Thanks for posting. http://ohtheplaceswesee.com
That makes me feel good! Thanks~
Wonderful photographs.
So pleased you think so!
These are beautiful photos, Cindy. It’s like looking through a telescope! And Cat Stevens and the Moody Blues are still two of my favorites. Still listen to them! All of the quotes are wonderful. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
You too my friend and thank you so much for the very kind comments!
What lens were you using to get such magnification? Obviously you must have had a tripod in action too. Cindy, you really captured such detail–almost as though we are looking through a telescope (as Linda also mentioned). Stunning and eerie and even inspirational.
Ohhhhh, these comments are so thougtful and appreciated! This is my hand-held sony hx300. It is capable of great moon shots when the moon is low in the sky. The only stabilization I used was reasting my head and shoulders against our house.
We need the moon as much as we need the sun.
So true!
These photos are breathtaking, Cindy! Did you use a telescope in order to capture the moon in such gorgeous detail? I love the accompanying quotes as well.
I can do these shots when the moon is low on the horizon and the sky is clear. It was done with my sony hx300 which has 50x optical zoom. I am so pleased that you liked the photos!!
Hello Cindy!
These are wonderful photos!
They make me imagine where there jade rabbit might have built his white palace, under the single Acacia tree that grows on the moon. There it lives with the beautiful Goddess Chang’ Er.
😀
They are so lucky to have the moon to themselves! I am sure you are right. They run to the dark side of the moon as it turns so no one sees them, and live on the border between light and dark. They fled to the moon because on earth no one would let a jade rabbit be with a beautiful goddess!!
You seriously rock Hari~
The moon photos are amazingly beautiful! Thank you so very much for sharing the inspiring quotes, Cindy!
Thank you for liking them and cheers to you Amy!
Remarkable, really great. Reminded me of standing out in a field in rural Michigan as a kid with my telescope. I’m curious, what is the far range of your zoo?. I’ve tried using a 200 mm, but it wasn’t long enough. Thanks. Ken
So great to hear from you, the 50x optical zoom I am guessing is around 900mm, with maximum angle, which maybe is 19x…..
900mm!!!! No wonder you’re getting detail. Ha! Good for you. Happy holidays. Ken
Cheers to you~
Cindy, the shots of the moon are fantastic, and the quotes so appropriate! I have always been fascinated (and affected) by the moon, so I particularly love this post!
Oh I am so pleased with your kind comments and so happy you are fascinated by the moon as am I! Cheers to you~
I’m really in love with the moon, and one of my favourite songs to sing is “Silver” (music by C. Armstrong Jones and words by the poet Walter de la Mare).
Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in silver feathered sleep
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws, and silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.
This is just lovely! I will save it for future use. Thank you for sharing it with me my friend!
Glad you liked it 🙂
Super prose interspersed…this is a great post–such a departure of your usually, vibrant stuff–and yet every bit as visually compelling. Maybe you are the 7th sister? 😉
Maybe I might be a far descendant….I am a night owl after all! She was sad and quite dutiful and I am neither though! (Thank goodness!) If I were her I would stay with my love and let the sun shine all the time!!!! I’d tell my sisters to vacay and visit a nebula or something…..too much work for seven sisters every night!! lol and cheers to you~
Wow! Awesome pictures, Cindy!
So happy you enjoyed them & cheers to you!
An emblem of peace & power, indeed! Enjoyed…
Happy Holidays to you Bette!
Wow alright! What a powerful camera you have. You have compiled beautiful quotes and lullaby to go with it too. Magnificent!
Thank you dear Fae & Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Awesome “HW” – almost as amazing as sunrise and sunset – God’s greatest gifts! Happy Weekend!
Happy weekend to you my friend & thank you!
This is GORGEOUS. I am spellbound.
So happy you are!! 🙂
Excellent post with outstanding pictures. Love your closing words. Instead of Nights in White Satin, Moon Shadow is in my head … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NM_4njNUjU
Yes Moonshadow does stick in one’s head! I’ve always loved it! Thanks for the clip~
Love the scenes in that video.
simply stunning!
Amazing pictures Cindy… WOW… blows me away! I use to have all the Moody Blues albums, back in the day…LOL. Night’s in White Satin was one of my favorites! 😀 Have a happy holiday Cindy! I’ll try to get back to catch up over the holidays if I can.
Have a Happy Hol & thanks for stopping by~
Oh me – oh my on the detail that you capture!
It’s an awesome little moon isn’t it! Taking all those hits for us~
Awesome photos, Cindy! I especially liked the Buddha quote.
Thank you. Kinda pops out at you because it is so true!
Beaten and battered, but pure in her essence, she rides high and proud in the night sky
Be she full or a crescent, on the wax or the wane, she’s a beauty to hold in your eyes.
Wonderful shots, Cindy. Happy Holidays !
Paul
Such lovely words and Happy Hols to you Paul~
Wonderful just isn’t enough to describe your moon shots….. but just had to say something.
Eloquently expressed and very much appreciated!
A poignant post! Cheers to you too my friend and kudos for another wonderful set of photos!
Hugz back at you Dor~
Great moon shots and I love the quotes… especially from “Moon Shadow,” one of my all time favorite songs. –Curt
It’s one of those pieces of music that pops into to your head forever at random times~
Sun-moon-earth shine upon each other. I like seeing the new cresent moon reflecting the light back from the earth, which the earth reflected from the sun onto the mood.
Oscar
The views in our world are incomprehensibly beautiful aren’t they! Cheers to you my friend and don’t work too hard~
I won’t be seeing the moon for a while…our third winter snow storm (in less than 7 days) has just started. But last night I wish I had a telephoto lens… the moon could be seen shining through the cloud patch with a silver then pale pink corona. It was really beautiful.
Love me a good moon shadow and moon dance! Cheers!
Ooooh that moon sounds beautiful and yes these are danceable tunes big time! Hugz to you Jules~
Beautiful Moon photos and lovely moon shadowed thoughts!! 🙂
Mil grazi & Happy Hols!
You too 🙂 Hope the Hol’s are totally awesome for you!
Excellent photos – other-worldy, even? RH
Yes, quite out of this world!!
Just lovely! In the city the moon can seem to be hidden, so high above the glow of the buildings and the noise of the streets, but you have reminded me how wonderful it is! I’ll remember what Buddha said and look out for it tonight! 🙂
Yes the light pollution from cities ruin star-gazing in general much of the time. But it is always worth it to look at the stars and the moon and this time of year is great for it in this hemisphere. Cheers to you and happy moon gazing!
I am always fascinated with photos of the moon. Your words were very beautiful!
You and most kind and it is very appreciated!
Fantastic moon shots, Cindy. Buddha was so right, wasn’t he? 🙂
Yes! That statement just pops out at you and you say, that’s certainly true!!!
We may never pass away again played at our Senior Prom and was the theme. Two years before it was ‘Those Were the Days’.
Ahhhh, sweet memories!
Something ethereal about the music, probably because it was us. We were the teens and our music was not odd, just different.
‘Those Were the Days’ was the first 45 I bought, in elementary school! Great tune~
awesome Cindy…I love to see photos of the moon, they fascinate me!
Me too obviously!
Great shots, Cindy. Shooting the moon is simply irresistible.
It is one keeps finding new features on the surface~
I’ve missed two moonrises over the Sandias photographing other events this weekend.
Can’t wait to see them when you finally get a chance~
Amazing and Thank you for writing which is quite good and best wishes always, and greetings. Kindness blossoms in your heart

Well you are most welcome even though I have no idea what you mean!! Cheers to you & Merry Christmas Sheri!
Cindy, have you noted on other blogs that they’ve been singled out by wordpress for their excellence, doing something unusual. The blogger will post whatever the trophy is. It’s a huge honor when you consider how many blog are out there. There is a key on the left side of your page. I think it says trophies or something like that. You should find your notice there. I don’t remember the date of the wordpress message that I read.
Huh? News to me and I never noticed this…..I will see if I can find it and how kind of you to notice for me. I think this is just the sort of person you are! Thank you~

Your shots are just stunning Cindy so much detail. What zoom do you use to get such clear photos?
Thank you my friend for your kindness, approximate estimate is 900 mm~
Wow that would take some holding to get such clear shots. Your photography is awesome
You are very kind and you are most appreciated!! Cheers to you~
