These are my favorite jewels! (Click to enlarge).
Whenever I go on a trip, I worry about the hummingbirds.
I am always relieved to find them hale, hearty, and bickersome!
How long can I force myself to go without posting about The Holler Hummingbirds?
Just about as long as my trip!
Cheers to you from all The Holler Hummers (and their dutiful human!)
Love when you share your hummingbirds!
That makes me happy! Cheers to you~
Your hummingbird photos never cease to amaze me. Stunning.
Awwww, so nice of you~
Can’t have too many Hummer pics. 😉
I obviously can’t take too many! lol~
Oh my goodness, these are exceptional photos. I just love these little birds. Such big attitudes in such little bodies.
Yes, that is what keeps me committed, they have outsize personalities in tiny bodies!
Your posts are always such a delight. Thank you. x
Very kind & very appreciated!
no, I cannot resist …
YAY!! A fellow hummer-lover!!
Great shots. I’m impressed! I love hummingbird’s too and enjoy watching them feed in the garden.
They are fascinating creatures!
Who could resist these tiny gems 🙂
Clearly not I!! lol~
what a fun and happy photo!
So glad & cheers to you~
Oh these are definitely jewels! Our hummers have left for the season. I have heard they travel all the way from here in Virginia to Venezuela. So my feeders are down. Seeing yours with all that activity is quite a treat! Thanks.
Hummingbirds migrate up to 2000 miles! Incredible aren’t they~
These pictures are absolutely spectacular! So glad I’ve found your blog!
I am so glad you enjoy it! Thank you~
what beauties!!! never tire of seeing your shots of them Cindy!
Oh good, that what I can sneak in another set in a month or two!
Such beauties!
When the sun reflects on their irridesence it is quite beautiful!
They are such wonders. So small and so busy. The sounds they make are a hoot, too – like buzzing bees.
Wow! Interesting angle on that hummer. Beautiful.
Merci beau coup!
I hardly know what to say…this is so wonderful…so sweet.
Awww, that is saying plenty! Thank you~
I don’t know if they are more attracted to the feeder or your camera!
They come so close to my face and hover there looking at me! Inches from my eyes!
They taunt me!
Stunning!
They are lookers and they appear to know it! lol~
OMG ! Hummingbirds ! We have 5 feeders at home, and how in the world did you get close to the hummingbird. I tried getting a bit close to take a photo as the hummingbird was feeding, but it buzzed me over the head ! LOL
I think it is because there are so few people at The Holler. They are not afraid. When they fight they are virtually impossible to photograph except in movie mode~
so awesome…nature is wonderful.
It is a gift waiting for us to enjoy everyday~
Lovely!
Grazi~
You’re back again with the hummers–alas mine are gone until next Spring. It’s been a few weeks, so I’m happy to see yours.
Sorry yours had to leave!
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I put our hummingbird feeder back up, and then of course I can’t resist getting out the camera. They are just too beautiful and interesting to resist.
I saw your photos of bossy pants and loved them!!
Everyone can always use another picture of hummingbirds. Will have to post a pic of a painting I did several years back. Getting cold here, Cuz. Stay warm out there in the “holler”.
Oh I want to see your painting……
Breathtakingly harmonious with nature. Totally beautiful
So kind and most appreciated!
With all due respect!
Awww. 🙂
They really are natures jewels and the photos are gems. But the bugs did not bug me they are also perfect examples of natures diversity. When Fall Fell it was colourful and I enjoyed that as well as the way you use words. Thanks.
Awww, I am honored Jack! Cheers to both of you~
Beautiful photo’s Cindy. I sure enjoyed watching the hummers in Alys’s garden but they didn’t share the feeder. One bully chased the little ones away. I was telling him, “awwww, don’t be like that…you can share”..HA
Most of it is bluff. They spar and then settle down when they are really hungry and share. I have seen and heard them make body slams mid-air though so they can be lethal~
I have two in my yard–in fact one got caught in the house for hours before it found the open door. >KB
They become so panicked when caught inadvertantly. It is hard to coax them out. Glad you were able to~
Sounds like you are back home! And what a welcome back celebration!!!
Yep, me and the birdies!
Tweet Tweet!!
Truly gorgeous little jewels. The super-clear fine details you captured is just amazing!
I am so happy you think so Halim! Cheers to you~
totally gorgeous!
Muchas gracias!
Don’t resist Cindy, the humming birds have become the mascots here at your blog! I love how you refer to them as ‘jewels’ as truly they are 🙂
I love that concept, The Holler’s mascots are the hummingbirds!!
Wunderschöne Aufnahmen.
Danke schoen!
Gorgeous x
🙂 🙂
They are irresistible. I have the same worry as you because I forgot to leave a note to the neighbour to change the water feeder while I am away for 15 days. Darn, I hate to see them get the fungus from the water.
Yes, I clean carefully and am diligent about changing the feeder. You never know if others will be as careful~
Do they greet you with great excitement when you return?
They come up very close to my face which I love!
And, if you wear sparkling jewels, or red colours, do they notice you more? Just wondering.
Yes!! If you wear flower covered clothing they love it!! The times they have landed on me I was wearing a flower embroidered Mexican dress that I wear around the house!! Quite perceptive of you to intuit this~
I am so happy to know this 🙂 Clever, clever little birds!
Beautiful birds er a jewels!
Jewel birds works!! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I think mine have mostly passed all by now on their way south.
Yes most migrate, but they are year round at The Holler~
Wunderschöne Bilder lasse mal einen lieben Gruß hier und wünsche einen schönen Tag.Gruß Gislinde
Du bist sehr freundlich! Danke schoen! 🙂 🙂
Your visitors are back! I need your recipe for humming bird food!
It’s one part sugar to four parts water!! Good luck Jasmine!

Never get tired of seeing these jewels!
Me neither, obviously!! lol~
They are jewels indeed! We still have some visiting on their way south. They keep me busy making sugar water for them and I feel guilty if a feeder goes dry. Ours are very plain compared to yours. The ruby-throated do have the flash of red. Great shots!
They can flash their colors at will. If your feeders in the sunshine part of the day, you see more color! Cheers to you~
I never tire of seeing these beauties!
So glad you are also a member of the the hummer fan club!!
Thanks Cindy – it’s has great membership benefits!
In Indonesia, Hummingbird is called as “burung madu” and “Kolibri”.
The first one means “honey bird”.
The second one, Kolibri, came from an extinct indigenous language of the French Caribbean colonies (According to Wikipedia). It makes me think of the hummingbirds as some mythical creatures from the ancient world! 😀
They were also sacred in Mayan and Aztec cultures as bringers of wisdom. They carved a massive hummingbird into rock that can only be seen from nearby mountains. Fascinating about their meanings in Indonesia! I can well understand these beliefs. They are miraculous and intelligent creatures. Thank you Hari, so interesting~
Ah that’s true!
There’s a Nazca line shaped like a hummingbird!
😀
Yes, thats the term I was forgetting, Nazca. Thank you~
Reblogged this on Anything and Everything Possible 4 U and commented:
Absolutely!! I cannot resist the wonder of these little birds as they squabble over territory,, they send their scouts out to look for food and when they find it they bring the rest of the clan with them.. I purposely grew the type of vine that they love for nectar so that they would have natures best, As the cooler weather comes upon us even in the south there are still some blooms but not many and these little guys will be flying back to a warmer climate, stopping along the way to gather nectar from those last blooms along the way. Thank you Cindy your photography is awesome!
Ohh, this is so nice of you and so beautifully expressed! Thank you most sincerely and cheers to you~
Yw Cindy (hugs)

Beautiful close ups of the birds. Looked at several days and just beautiful scenes all around.
Awww, so nice! Thank you~
These are absolutely gorgeous! It really does seem that no matter how many times you spot a hummingbird, it’s just as mesmerizing as the first time!
That is so true. My husband were captivated by them at the zoo and they weren’t an exhibit!! lol~
