At least at the zoo, they do!
There’s a peacock in that tree! A fellow Hollorite had one on her roof! But this one was loose at The San Diego Zoo.
The Zoo has huge walk-through, multi-level aviaries, that I have been visiting since I was a small child. It is full of exotic birds.
Check out their painted plumage!
The San Diego Zoo houses the largest collection of bird species in the United States.
It’s a picture-taking paradise!
And the birdies know it!
Look at them, they practically pose.
cindy, they are beautiful!
They are aren’t they! Very cheering visually! Thank you~
Fantastic vibrant birds!! I love that peacock!!
He was shrieking his lungs out from the top of that tree! He is gorgeous isn’t he! Thank you my friend~
How fabulous! Some of those feathers look as though they’ve been painted 🙂
I think the purpley-pink ones are some type of starling. The ones from Asia have such intense coloring, just beautiful. So glad you liked them!
The colors are amazing!
Exotic birds are great photographic subjects because they are incredibly beautiful!
Those birds sure are beautiful!
I am so glad you like them! So do I!
“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune–without the words,
And never stops at all..”

Now this one I actually know!! That’s a first! I love Emily and I love your poetry selections. Wunderbar~
Beautiful colors….
Aren’t they! I love them too, thank you~
Wow such beauties 🙂
So glad you like them my friend!
I never can walk in a zoo these days and I have some nice ones if there are any good zoos 🙂 I loved Bush Gardens as they were huge enclosures but I know it is to allow us to fall in love with them and SAVE THEM in the end though sadly the worlds land seems to be needed for man more 🙁
Oh yes, I know what you mean. The birds in this massive aviary are pretty lucky though. They have lots of room and lots of good food and lots of safety. It kills me to know that by 2035 Polar Bears will exist only in zoos. This is just awful. They are aquatic mammals that are made to swim great distances. Seeing them in the zoo depresses me so I know what you are saying.
They do pose! But not for us! Beautiful birdie pictures, you’re a wonderful photographer CIndy.
You are very kind! Thank you~
Wow, stunning bird pictures! The colors are incredible! Peacocks have always intrigued me, and your photo is stunning!
Well that makes me happy! Thank you Becky~
Fabulous Fotos! Now I know the next time I’m in S. Diego, I will insist on going to that zoo.
Oh good! You will absolutely love it! 🙂
Some birds have an excellent life span. Have you ever wondered if some of the birds you see now were there when you visited in your childhood?
Now there is a most interesting thought! I hadn’t thought of it, but you are right! I’ll ask my son. He volunteered there~
Wonderful variety of paint jobs on those birds! Lovely photographic models
They put us to shame! No wonder women used to wear bird feathers for dress-up! They were copying these guys~
What vibrancy of colours! It is generally said that everything that nature displays has a purpose. What could be the purpose of such beautiful colours?
Shakti
The males are colorful to attract mates! Females tend to be drab so they can hide better on nests. Thank you so much Shakti for your generous comments!
G’day! I love the expressions on our fine feathered friends, true!
Seems you capture unique moments …thanks for sharing too!
Cheers! Joanne
They definitely have expressions, watch us all the time, and look at odd thinks intently, like their feet! LOL! So kind of you. Thank you~
That picture taking Paradise is amazing ! 🙂
Plus it has benches where you can sit, and on a quiet day, the birds will come up to you and sometimes land on you!
That is fabulous and I will love it ! .)
🙂

Hi Cuz,
For some weird reason I’m not getting all of your posts ! Would have missed this one if I hadn’t been reading through some of your older stuff. The coloration on these birds is amazing and almost unbelievable. Are you sure you didn’t touch these up with a magic pencil????? 🙂
Yes WP is hiccuping with my posts. You are the third notifier. The photos won’t load for some people and the like function frequently doesn’t work. It didn’t work with this post for example. Thanks for telling me~
A great angle on the peacock! So beautiful and majestic, and he even has a bit of a crown on his head. Really a superstar among the birds haha. I love too the pink and purple one, so radiant and jewel-tone and then the white belly – just gorgeous!
Isn’t he glorious!! I agree with you Halim, these tropical birds are stunners! Thank you my friend~
I feel in Paradise now. Stunning 🙂
So glad! Mil grazi~
Absolutely blown away! I’m wondering how the layout of the area that has all these amazing birds in San Diego?
So happy you enjoyed the birds! The aviaries are set on a small mountain side, and you walk up or down stairs through them. The original aviary that I visited as a child is the center, but other aviares have been added to this one. There is a stream and waterfalls and ponds. It is full of tropical plants, and the atmosphere inside the aviaries seem rarefied. It really is wonderful. Thank you or your kind comments and cheers to you~
An aviary, that’s it, I have been cooped up too long! I haven’t been to one since I visited New Orleans a long time ago. 🙁 I have visited California often, but never seem to make my way to San Diego, your pictures will have me out there soon, I hope 🙂 Thanks Cindy and cheers for all the cheers you spread.
that blue and red fella…he is a natural cut up, I bet…:) And the hot pink birdie!! Wow! She is red-carpet ready…
LOL!! Love your choice of words, as always!! 🙂
