Duck, Duck… Quack!
Cute little quackers aren’t they?
The Moms apparently decided to “pool” their resources and go for the group day-care option.
Clever moms!
But one little duckling swam to a different drummer, out on the pond all by his lonesome! He refused to bow to peer pressure, or his mama’s stern quacking. I have a child just like this. I suspect most of the WP bloggers I follow are like him as well. Kudos to all who dare to be different!
The mama’s had their bills full of little quackers.
Seems much like herding cats!
Cheers to you from The Holler!
That independent-minded duckling reminds me of a child in the junior choir I teach — always the one standing back-to-front on one leg, with her music upside down, talking when she’s meant to be singing!
Oh I love her already. I’m such a sucker for non-conformists!
So funny, I just wrote a poem with ducks. They are the cutest little things. You manage to get amazing wildlife shots.
Synchronicity! Jung believed these coincidences were important. Going to check out your poem~
I had a duck… er daughter, just like that. Never did want to follow along and insisted on making her own mistakes… er decisions! Thanks for the smile today.
Yep, if you have a child like this you can recognize the breed everywhere! I of course would get along with your daughter! LOL! Cheers to you!
They are so cute.
Yep, just adorable, little ducklings…….
Ducklings are one of the most precious creatures on earth. love the photos
So incredibly cute! At the zoo, people were not looking at the exotic animals, they were massing around the domestic baby ducks! LOL~
So adorable! I had a duck named “Dinky” when I was a kid — back when they used to sell the babies in the ten-cent store at Easter. He finally got so big my parents had to give him to a family with a yard and a pond! 🙂
I had ducklings too and bought some for my children when they were little. They came back every year to nest! Dinky is a great name for a ducky~
Have you ever noticed the “common” in nature means extraordinary? And you bring out this message in every post, every comment and every photo!
I have definitely noticed, but I am so pleased you have too! Not surprised though. You are a perceptive person~
🙂 🙂 🙂
My little duckling … ehm son is the same, but mostly I wouldn’t want him any different. Cute pictures.
Exactly! Non-conformists are creative and interesting, and the most fun to hang out with! Danke!
so cute and sweet! 🙂
They are aren’t they! Mil grazi~
Was für süsse Fotos Wünsche ein sonniges Wochenende.Lieber Gruß Gislinde
Danke Gislinde! Sehr nett ~
comment allez-vous?
no duck a l’orange in the making here–they are much too cute
I agree! Cheers~
Cute! It’s much nicer to see them out in the wild than in the yard through the fence of one of the houses in the burg. I’m not sure what they do with them, I’ve never heard of duck on the menu here anywhere. And the poor things have no water to swim in like your little duckies.
Maybe they eat the eggs! I agree with you though, duckies need h20!
So cute and such good photo’s 🙂
So nice! Thank you~
You’re probably right about wordpress bloggers quacking to different drums..
LOL! Love the way you phrased this!
“Behold the duck.
It does not cluck.
A cluck it lacks.
It quacks”
Excerpt from “The Duck” by Ogden Nash

Oh mein GOTT! You are like a walking google of poetry! I am seriously impressed Russel~
Your duckies are just the best 🙂
Kinda partial to them myself! Mil grazi~
lol You are so lucky my Mom had FOUR!
Four is more manageable! LOL~
LOL not sure My mom would agree 🙂 While waiting for grill to cook our meal we got into a heated discussion well it was almost 100 and we were outside lol I told her I think we were all pretty independent thinkers and that I thought we all turned out good 🙂 she agreed none of us had gone to JAIL it is a wonder I do not have silver hair like her 🙂
Just a tad hard to please is she! My mom is the same.
The Holler is truly an enchanted place and I think your duckies (and certainly your photos) add to the magic.
Hugs to you my friend~
So cute!
They are so ridiculously cute, aren’t they! And they are all pidgeon toed, which I think should be called duck toed! 🙂
Yes, we had baby chicks but didn’t know how to keep them…had to take them back to Farmer’s Market.
I think this happens a lot when people give ducks as Easter presents……
I AM THAT DUCK, Cuz !!! Most of these look like mallards except the 2nd pic. Those have different coloration.
You are too smart! I can’t slip anything by you! This is an Asian duck. You and I both are “that” duck cuz. Maybe it’s the Barton genes~
Isn’t it wonderful that even baby ducks have so much personality !!!!
Yes. I think sometimes we underestimate animals to make it easier to justify eating them and I eat meat, so I’m not proseltizing! Just observing~
The road less travelled … Has made all the difference.
Frost should be this ducklings name! Great idea~
Awww! Too cute! Lol 🙂 Daycare looks to be a job and a half … As does little lonesome duckling following his own path 🙂
Yes I would not accept a daycare job from these mamas! No way! LOL!
I don’t know…I think you’d be very good at it!!! lol 😉
🙂
Now all we need are the sound effects. I love the little noises the ducklings make to communicate with Mama.
I’ve seen traffic ground to a total halt to allow a mama duck and her ducklings to cross the road! Yes their peeps when distressed are so plaintive. There is a song about this is Spanish that I taught my kids when they were young.
Oh , but now we need to hear that song, Mama Cindy!
I value our friendship too much to subject you to such a cacaphony! 🙂
I have a soft spot for ducks, as you’ll know if you read my guest blog over on Daan van den Bergh. I sent the link for this to my friend whose little girl loves ducks too
Ducks rule! That’s why Jasmine & Jules call you Mr. Fluffy then~
Alas, I cannot tell a lie. I’m am the Fluffster…
One day I’ll have to fix Jasmine for getting that one off the ground.
I think it suits you! 🙂
We used to have several ducks along with our chickens, and the chickens would often “babysit” the ducklings and vice versa. It was so cute! Eventually we had to give the ducks away because they were fouling our koi pond. If only we could’ve bought ducky diapers! LOL
I love the chickens and ducks cooperating on daycare responsibilites! How clever is that! And yep, the downside of ducks and geese is that are not particularly neat!
Sooooooo cute Cindy and as always such sharp photos you can see every feather
Who can resist a mama duck and her ducklings? One of the sweetest sights in nature. Thank you my friend~
Mothers and babies make irresistible pictures
That’s true of every mammalian species isn’t it~
There’s nothing common about those ducks. They’re adorable!
Mil grazi Jon & cheers to you~
So harmless very cute 🙂 little ducks, captured very well !
Very kind ma deah! Thank you~
These are such close-up shots — did they let you in pretty close or were you having to zoom a distance? Such cute little quackers, and great pictures!
It a bit of both, zoom and getting close. Straight zoom doesn’t work that well for me with animals, but it does with the moon, posssibly because it doesn’t move?????
Overwhelmed with cuteness! (I love ducks!)
Oh Good!! So do I!! 🙂
lol…fabulous shots Cindy…your photos show them at their finest!
Cute little buggers aren’t they!!! 🙂
Got to image 4, then my ‘cute overload’ alarm triggered and I had to have a beer… RH
Hilarious!!! Still laughing…….
Such sharp photos. They are gorgeous photography!
Awww. You are very kind!
Nothing common about them. How many of us could pop out of a shell in the morning and jump in the pond for a swim? Not me.
Hilarious! Still laughing & very true!
I can’t say which photo I like best–they are all so uniquely great. From the detail of wet feathers up top, to the little feet on the duckling “outside the box” as he swims…to those bright orange shoes!! And the herding action across the fields…as my Mom would say: just ducky!!
I think your mom and you just did a just-ducky job of describing them all! Thank you~
Herding cats, a different drummer? Have you been wandering about in the grey matter between my ears again? 🙂 They never could find the right size box for moi…
You know how popular ducks are here. In a mousse on toast with carmelized onions…, grilled magret de Canard… Oh, master the possibilities! 🙂 Perhaps that isn’t what you had in mind?
eeeerrrr, not exactly! LOL! Cheers to you my friend!
What can I say, in France the canard is on the menu…
I can’t eat ducks or lamb, but I eat beef and calves are adorable so it makes no sense~
Haha … absolutely wonderful … it is bathed is beautiful .. 🙂
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed them. Cheers to you!
They’re adorable! We have a duck family that passes through our yard pretty regularly – fun to watch.
Mama ducks with ducklings has to be one of the sweetest sights in nature. Thank you and enjoy them!
Speaking of herding cats…Had a friend who let her cats out – on a leash connected to each other. They never did figure out that if they co-opperated they could go places…
I had to peek in here, as I’ve got a bunch of quakers…and ducks by me too!
Cheers, Jules
I knew a person who walked her cat on a leash……multiple cats on a leash??? Who was leading whom???? LOL!
adorable
They really are! Thank you!
Awww! Beautiful pictures.
I think you are right, WP bloggers are odd ducks. 🙂
Odd in a good way!! 🙂
Cindy, I enjoy your post so very much, thank you for following my blog. AJM
I feel the same about you, so thank you!
Oh Cindy, these are just gorgeous 🙂 Their feathers look so light, so beautiful.
Awww. Thank you my friend. Very kind~
This post gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling, and I’m giving it 5 out of a possible 5 quacks– thanks, Cindy!! : )
So kind & funny! Thank you~
