Spent all day today exploring the wonder of Chinatown in San Francisco. Found so much beauty to share. Let’s start with this hand-stiched artwork from China. It is incredibly intricate and detailed. Some of the pieces took multiple artists up to ten years to create. Take a peek at some of this remarkable artwork:

Ah…remarkable…
Yes, I thought so too! Cheers to you Rebecca~
-You are in San Francisco ?!?!
-These embroideries are spectacular… I brought back a double sided, see-through, scenery, silk embroidery back from when we traveled to China in May 2010. Probably one of the most expensive souvenirs I brought back.
Oooooh!! Might you post a photo???? Yes, I am in SF for one more day…never enough time!
Stunning!
Yes. I would love to be able to afford one!!!
thank you for sharing the beauty of nature Cindy dear
You are so very welcome….thank you!
Beautiful. What a wonderful day you have had.
Yes, and I only explored about half of Chinatown. It is the best Chinatown in the US in my humble opinion…back for more today! Cheers to you~
So beautiful, can’t click like right now as on husband’s laptop, mine being kaput!!!!!
So nice of you to take the time to comment!
They are so beautiful.
Exquisite yes I agree!
Just amazing. Like 19th c. French lacemakers. Ken
Oh, what an apt comparison…the time spent to create such art is mind-boggling! Cheers to you both~
The last one is my favourite
Gorgeous isn’t it…..
So pretty! I always enjoy the Asian areas of the big cities, and I have noticed that the influence is MUCH stronger on the west coast. Kind of makes sense, doesn’t it?
Yes, I am an Orientophile…cannot get enough of Asian art! Cheers & thanks~

Thank you Jasmine! I agree with you!!! Thanks for stopping by & cheers!

It is almost unreal to me how someone could hand stitch such intricate work. And the colors are amazingly brilliant! As always, Cindy, your photography brings it all to life.
Amazing achievements aren’t they? Hard to comprehend the detailed work and time devoted to it. Truly lovely work~
Breath-taking! They must be brilliant in person

Enjoy
Oh, how wonderful! Beautiful piece! I adore the macaws and the blue especially!
so very beautiful Cindy…you are fortunate to be able to visit…
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment…I was amazed by the beauty and detail of this exquisite artwork too!!!
Beautiful! I love the treasures you can find in Chinatown. I missed going there the last time I was in San Francisco. Thanks for sharing your visit.
I do too…..one can find beautiful textiles and art and clothes at incredible prices and it is just an incredibly fun place to visit! Thanks~
Wow! I make and sell embellished photographs – mainly on a commissioned basis – but those are simply spectacular
I agree that they are exquisite and not affordable for me.I was able to make a major acquisition today from a gallery that is going out of business. I got a 300 year old embroidered sleeve from an artistocrat’s robe from China…something I could never begin to afford. I will post a photo when it arrives……This Chinese embroidered art is just magnificient. Can you post some photos of your work? I would be fascinated. Cheers to you my friend~
Hi Cindy, you can find some of my work on this page : http://iggandfriends.wordpress.com/igg-and-friends/
Enoy!
Whoops, that should have been enjoy!
Have been to SF but never to Chinatown. Obviously I misses seeing some real treasures. These are wonderful, Cindy. Did you get one to bring home?
Paul
The one I loved the the most, four women carrying birds in a cage, was so exquisite….all beyond my affordability level. I am content to look…..
BEAUTIFUL!!! *Cynthia
Merci beau coup!
Wow! Breathtaking color!
Yes they were breathtaking. If I lived near Chinatown, I would be broke…….
exquisite work.
I agree! Thank you.
did you find any double-sided embroidery? I saw some in Suzhou once. It was utterly beautiful. downside is that the embroiderers ruined their eyesight by their mid 20s
I have seen this before…..Do know that all good embroiderary and weaving is more complex on the underside than the top….On the last day we happened by a closing gallery, got the sleeve portion of an Ming Dynasty gown and Ming Vase for a song….will see what this embroidery looks like on the back…can’t wait!
I can remember haggling over the price of some antique embroidery and antique hand knotted lace when I was in China. I drove a very hard bargain and came away well pleased. Then I did some sums in my head and realised I’d been haggling over 1 yuan, or about 16p (25 cents).
Hilarious!!!!
So beautiful Cindy!
I agree! Wonderful creations you have been whipping up my uber-talented-friend, while I’ve been away……..FAntabulous!!!!
Thank you Cindy! ooxx

Amazing work, that blue parrott looks so realistic
Isn’t he a beauty…imagine him and the Iris’s together on a wall….stunning!
I am a blue and yellow person so would look fantastic in my place
I honestly think if I owned these I would be afraid to leave them on vacation. But I’m with you I love the Irises and the parrot!
So much work, and so beautiful, Cindy!
I agree. Thank you~
True oriental beauty! Many hours of dedication and loving hard work must have gone into creating these beautiful artworks
