“Set a spell. Take your shoes off. Y’all came back now, y’hear…” (source Beverly Hillbillies.) Jim & I have been checking out The Holler to see what’s what…..We have our Chippewa handmade snake boots so I am very comfortable now. Come along with us and take a peek……It will take two posts just to show you the highlights and stick to my eight photo rule…..Oh, what the heck, I’ll break the rule and show you ten in one, if you are willing…..
The lower pasture.
The kids had told us about the mysterious buried car, but we had never gone to look. It used to be fully buried, but the El Nino Floods three years ago partially exposed it. Here it is. The Holler was originally called Rancho Lilac due to the wild lilac that cover the hillsides this time of year. I always bring bushels of the sweet-smelling flowers into the house.
There is a creek called Keys Creek running through the place.
We know that someone lives by the creek in the summertime and that is okay with us because there is lots of room and he probably has nowhere else to go. Here is where he sleeps.
It can’t be a home on the range without free range cattle now can it?
And the wildflowers are only starting to carpet the land. Life is beautiful wherever you are. You just need to look for it. Trust me on this. If I was where you are, I would find the beauty.
And the grapefruits are almost ready to pick.
