About cindy knoke

I retired early after 27 years as a psychotherapist/mental health director (Cindy Barton LCSW) and moved to the outer limits of no-wheres-ville to a home I call "the holler." My closest neighbors are coyotes (packs and packs of them and they are HUNGRY), rattlers (lots and lots of them and they are MEAN), and free range cows/bulls (the bulls aren't too friendly either!) Forget cell phones. They don't work out here. Forget GPS, it misdirects. It's best not to wander too much out here, the people (and their dogs) are kinda twitchy. To reach the holler your turn right at the reeking chicken farm, down a bunch of pot-holed semi-streets/dirt roads, past the abandoned refrigerators and occupied old RV’s and then things get kinda dicey. My friends usual reaction to the trip to the holler is, “you’ve got to be kidding!” Or, “Next time let’s meet half way.” This is our little bit of heavenly Appalachia right here in rural California. I blog about traveling which I do about three months a year, cooking which I love, photography, usually of my food and trips, books, holler happenings, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Stop by the blog and take a peek. It’s safe. I promise. Cheers, Cindy

    • Well, Frida Kahlo had a parrot on her shoulder, and the post had parrot photos in it, so I extrapolated just a smidge. Not sure if she really loved parrots…….or monkeys for that matter. She was an unhappy but talented lady with lots of demons and this is one of her many, least disturbing self portraits! Yo, I am so stoked you posted!!! We are in Patagonia now……home to the Harpy Eagle and South American Condor…..what would I do at a view of either of these? Harpy, highly unlikely…Condor possibility. Already spotted many species I can’t identify.

  1. Cindy! I love the parrots shot, I love the parrot in the picture, I love the Architectural!
I love the spiral staircase, I love the endless bench! I love Cindy in the mirror, I love Cindy post today! :)

    • Move to El Calafate in Patagonia! It will blow your mind. The coyote are here along with millions of birds……I have only been here a few hours and I have already photographed 3 species I am unfamiliar with….more to come!

  2. The bird pictures looked so real and clear I felt like I could reach out and pet them! The bench at the end was definitely different and so interesting! You’re really seeing a lot of great sights and I’m so glad you’re posting all the great pictures!
